It improves on all fronts, being much bigger than the original and really looking to scale. The (new) colors are fantastic, and really do look like the movie version. More importantly, the shape resembles the Slave I about as exactly as you can get with Lego! The swiveling cockpit within the windscreen joined to the wings looks brilliant, as do all the other features: and there are lots of these, including hidden missile launchers and a bomb rack.
In my opinion this vehicle is the best likeness by any Lego Star Wars set to the movie version yet, although all the Episode II sets look cool.
The Jango Fett figure is again perfect, the face being a nice and inventive touch (it is printed on a black surface, so the head can be turned to make the visor look black). Young Boba Fett looks a bit strange, with his arms looking slightly too long for his body with the new shorter legs Lego developed, and which were first used (to good effect) on the Ewoks, but his addition is pretty cool.
I never fancied the Lego Slave I much, and I never bought it. I couldn't wait to get this one though, and you too will not be disappointed.
It comes with a cool removable prisoner compartment, Fold out missile launchers with missiles, Rotating rapid-fire laser cannons, a one-of-a-kind canopy, compartments for his hair (More on that later) and his WESTAR-34 laser blasters, rotating stabilizer wing and rotating cockpit, Seismic Charge load-and-release system, and a series of opening doors.
The size one of my favorite bits, along with the colors and features. It dwarfs the former Slave I and a few other ships. Now about those colors. It has this cool Yoda green and a new darker blue. The common gripe I've heard about not being able to properly hold it is the first thing I solved. I hold it right at the gap where The wing originate. Unfaortunatly This method is plagued with the two rounded black things falling off. Jango and Boba Fett are pretty cool and not to mention, one-of-a-kind. Boba looks a bit comical and stupid with his IMOBILE SHORT LEGS. He sports long hair and a mean looking face. Jango is really cool and just about perfect. His armor is cool and accurate. He has a cool new revolving head that turns backwards when you want him to be in armor, forwards if you want to have him without armor. He's better in armor because he looks awkward in hair and wears an expression that he's sniffing skunk spray. Over all I'd say it's a well worth very cool lego set.
Now about the ship. As I said, it's full of weapons, and has extremely cool Jango and Boba Fett mini-figs. The model has countless little hatches and guns and stuff which is great. At the end there are two rotating blaster cannons, there's a compartment storing rocket cannons that unfold, and there's also what appears to be an engine room which accomodates two of what appear to be missiles. Even a compartment of bombs in back - this thing's got it all. Inside you'll find a rotating platform where the figures sit, and a cargo bay box-like thing. The colors are eye-catching and the ship has such a sleek shape, you can't help looking at it.
About the mini-figs. You have a little Boba "mini-mini-fig" on those shorter legs on the Ewoks and Yoda. He's pretty cool with a long black hair piece. Jango is an A grade mini-fig. He has a special head that's black on one side, and has Jango's face on the other. You leave it on the black side and put on his helmet, or you turn it to the face and put his hair piece on. He looks better in armor and awkward in hair. As a bonus, Jango comes with a couple of little gray pistols.
This is a set that is fun to build, worth the money, and is a great choice if you want an exciting set that holds many surprises. Also look for the new AT-TE and Geonosian Fighter with clones and battle droids and pilots- WOW! I would absolutely reccommend this terrific set to any Star Wars fan.
