Description du produit

Présentation de l'éditeur

This book has been specifically formated for the Amazon Kindle.

The Law, first published as a pamphlet in June, 1850. Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850) was a French economist, statesman, and author. He did most of his writing during the years just before - and immediately following -- the Revolution of February 1848. The same socialist-communist ideas and plans that were then adopted in France are now sweeping America. The explanations and arguments then advanced against socialism by Mr. Bastiat are -- word for word -- equally valid today. His ideas deserve a serious hearing.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 A timeless classic ruined by print-on-demand - you have other options 31 décembre 2016

I love The Law and have bought many copies, but this particular book is not worth the paper it is printed on. For a book that is in the public domain and can be downloaded as a pdf, I expected a lot more. The font is tiny, the top margin is short and the bottom margin is long, and the paragraphs are smashed together. The final insult is seeing the original page numbers throughout the text. Don't buy this one!

I purchased The Law (ISBN 978-1572460737) and it was a very nice book.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Essential reading for everyone that aspires to understand politics and the role of government. 9 février 2017

This is essential reading for everyone that aspires to understand politics and the role of government. It's astounding to realize how little has changed about the daily arguments of politicians and the landscape of government since the mid-1800's. This book is as relevant today as it was in the time it was written. This book is full of reason and common sense so it's unlikely that any Democrat could understand it. They would likely be left dazed and confused for a while as the logical and reasonable concepts presented sink in. This has the capacity to transmute a few of them into a rational beings, but most will slowly transition back to their irrational and contradictory selves spewing racism at every turn. Republican's will get a lot more out of this and most often acknowledge the truth of it, but rarely ever be brave enough to follow the hardline. Libertarian's will pretty much own this and bravely walk the line without fear, because the truth will set you free.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Most federal laws plunder 22 juin 2016

Mr. Bastiat clearly defines good and proper law. The Law must apply to all the people; it must not provide an advantage to only some of the people. Also, The Law should not be a tool to forcibly redistribute resources/money from taxpayers to citizens deemed (by gov’t) to be in need. His definition of Legal Plunder is straightforward and powerful. It has given me a new, clear perspective.

Most US statutes (legislation) are Legal Plunder, especially since 1900. What would the US Code look like without all laws classified as Legal Plunder? It would be rational.

This book helped me develop another perspective on the law, what it is , can be, and most importantly should be restrained to remaining. Law is a basic and equal Justice for all. It does not meddle in affairs is does not naturally contain. It is not a tool to force conformity. It is not a science experiment for the would be omnipotent legislator.

Law is organized justice which defends life, property, and liberty.

The knowledge in this book far exceeds the .99 cent price tag.

I would recommend this to anyone, especially the individuals making our laws.

This should be required reading for anyone to be a citizen of this country, especially those born here.
