Note générale: 3,5/5

Jimmy is my favorite. There, I said it. From the moment I meet him in Lick.....I thought, now there is a man I want to get to know more. He has secrets. He has issues. He is an A-hole. He is sexy as sin. Totally my kind of man.

To say I was excited to read Lead is an understatement. I needed to peel Jimmy like an onion and see what was lurking beneath his expensive suits and death glares. But I needed help. Kylie Scott knew just the person. Lena Morrissey.

Lena is a no nonsense, don't take any crap from anyone kind of woman. Feisty and curvy and just who Jimmy needs to keep him in check. She is the rock that Jimmy desperately needs. The friend that he has never had.

In Lead, we learn just how broken Jimmy is. We learn about all the crap that he shielded David from. Even as an adult he tries to shield his brother from their money hungry, addicted mother. We begin to realize why Jimmy is such a jerk. It's easier to keep people at a distance rather then to let them in and hurt you. That is until Lena.

I LOVED that Jimmy and Lena went from barely tolerating each other to a friendship to lovers. I mean this is real life people! (winks). It was so funny to see that Jimmy had no clue that Lena was attracted to him.

"You're watching me all the time and it's f-ing creepy.I can't take it anymore."

I LOVED that when Lena started realizing that she was developing feelings for Jimmy she told him, and then he promptly told her that she was out of her mind and that there was no way she could like him that way.

"You'll get over this dumb crush you've got on me and I'll do us both the immense favor of forgetting this ever happened, okay?"

I LOVED that Lena was able to burrow her way under Jimmy's tough exterior to see the sweet, funny, caring A-hole that he really is, even if he does not see it in himself. Have I mentioned how incredibly HOT Jimmy is? How when Jimmy and Lena finally hook-up it is beyond orgasmic? How a certain singer really knows how to use his tongue. blushes

Okay, I LOVED everything about this book. I don't want to reveal to much.....but there is a lot of things going on in Lead. Dave & Ev make lots of appearances. Mal & Anne, along with killer, pop in quite a bit......and we even learn a more about Ben and his love interest. There is even a shirt that has deer boinking (even a threesome). I.KID.YOU.NOT.

If you are looking for a slow burning, friends turn lover story that has a smexy singer and a feisty strong woman that calls said singer on his sh*t.....then LEAD is perfect for you.

I'm not angry, just disappointed...

I think overall... I hated this one. Cos it was such a HUGE pointless thing. Very disappointing. At the end of the day I still didn't care about Jimmy. I may loathe him less, but my feelings I had from the beginning of this series about him, hasn't really changed.

And I truly failed to see what was so great or inspiring about Lena. She wasn't weak, but she didn't really exude all this "Inner strength take no prisoners" vibe, that everyone claims she did when it came to Jimmy, either.

She was always in her head on constant repeat about her undying love for Jimmy. How hot he was etc.. It was nerve wrecking to keep reading that over & over again for me. And that's the majority of the book. It was a lot less dialogue & more monologue in this book than the 1st two books. The monologues here were long winded & repetitive. And the dialogues, what little you got, wasn't much better. And keep in mind everything is in the female's POV so this way of "Thinking" to oneself, drove me bonkers.

It got 2 stars cos of the 1st 14%. But everything else just sucked for me. So I wouldn't recommend this read. I won't be finishing this series.

Just as I suspected from the beginning, for me at least, David & his book "Lick" is the best book here.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Spotlight on Jimmy 26 janvier 2017

I read this Book during the morning of 26 January 2017 before getting ready for an Australia Day BBQ with some Aussie pride for the author.

Book 3 in the Stage Dive series, Lead, is the story of Jimmy, funnily enough the bad reputation lead singer and Lena, his accidental personal assistant.

Their story slow burned more so than previous couples in this series. Jimmy's brokenness and Lena's emotional generosity were paired perfectly.

The banter between these two was well written. Having all the feels and plenty of laughs.

All of the Stage Dive family made return appearances and the scene set for Ben's story.

"He was my Romeo in black jeans and this story had just as much a chance of dying as tragic a death as the original."- Lena

Kylie Scott's wonderful brand of wit, sarcasm, drama and steam are delivered to us again in the hot package of Jimmy Ferris and Lena! Lead had me alternating between laughing out loud, holding my breath, cussing under my breath, holding back tears and laughing again. Mal is still my main man, but Jimmy wasn't lacking in the swoonworthy moment department either. I feel like nothing I say here will really do justice to the emotions I felt as I was reading this story, but I'll give it my best shot.

I absolutely love Lena and I want to be her best friend without a doubt! With her lack of tolerance for BS, humor, self deprecating views and sarcasm, this is a woman I can relate to. Life has kicked her in the teeth more than a few times but she just keeps smiling and rolling with the punches. Her personality comes across clearly from the very first page of the book and I just knew she was going to give Jimmy a run for his money.

Jimmy learned to close himself off from feeling at a very young age and has never seen the need to turn it back on. His home life has been hinted at in the previous books but we get the full picture and understand much more clearly why he became the arrogant train wreck that we have seen in Lick and Play. Suffice it to say that Lena turns his world upside down and it was such fun watching it happen! In so many ways, he is an emotional child, and his complete lack of understanding of his own responses when he convinces Lena to start dating is both hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time.

I have a ton of quotes highlighted throughout the book, and I couldn't honestly name my favorite scene because I can't choose between a few of them. But there is one scene centered around cigarettes that had me holding my sides laughing. As much as I want to scream from the rooftops about the love I have for the book, I will just say GO GET THIS BOOK NOW so you can experience the journey all for yourself!
5.0 étoiles sur 5 The best of the four books 26 avril 2017

Wow, this one surprised the hell out of me. "Lead", the third book in the four-book Stage Dive series, is Jimmy's story. He's the lead singer of the world-famous band Stage Dive (think Harry Styles, Adam Levine, Jon BonJovi). He's got $74 million in the bank, a garage full of classic cars, and enough houses to make the Trumps jealous. He also has enough hangups and addictions to drown a legion of sailors. I HATED Jimmy in the first book. He was an awful, miserable, unlikable, cruel person and I swore I wouldn't read his book. Then Lena came along in book 2, Jimmy went to rehab and there was hope.

Kylie Scott did a great job turning Jimmy into someone you want to root for. His abusive addict mother did a number on him and it still shows. So much that he can't even identify the feelings of love which stunts him emotionally and socially. Lena (who is much older than the other girls in the books) is hired as his "minder", "babysitter", "sober companion". Previously this job was done by trained addict counselors, but Jimmy is such a handful that the dudes kept quitting. His bandmates find someone with spunk who is outspoken and won't take shit from anyone. When they overhear Lena telling off their manager and subsequently getting fired for it, they hire her to look after Jimmy. This means living with him, eating meals with him, watching TV together, becoming friends. The other counselors kept a boundary and didn't get so involved but Lena isn't a professional so she keeps an eye on him how she knows best, by immersing herself into his life. Turns out it's just what Jimmy needs. He's alienated every other person in his life and solitude breeds a bad attitude in him. Go figure.

Jimmy being Jimmy keeps f#ing things up, though, and pushes away Lena at every turn. They fight a lot, she quits a few times, he fires her often. But the real meat of the story is when Lena realizes she's in love with him and probably won't be able to tell him "no" much longer (no to alcohol, no to drugs, no to being a jerk etc). She sets up interviews for her replacement but Jimmy won't have it. They have a smooth (in his mind) relationship and he can't handle the disruption. She's forced to admit her feelings in hopes he lets her go but instead he laughs. Yep, he laughs. And laughs. See, Jimmy is used to women everywhere falling in love with him. He knows it's not real but mostly he believes he's unlovable (thanks mom) and that if Lena hangs around long enough she'll see that, get over him, and it will be normal again. So he sets out desensitize her to him in a four-step process. Get her hobbies, get her on dates, show her his ugly side, increase her social life. Problem is, he hates seeing her date. When he opens up his underbelly for her to see the ugly, it heals him and she loves him more for his transformation. Her newfound social life ends up involving him too much which only brings them closer. Same with her hobbies (they jog together at 6am).

As much as I started to accept, like, and feel bad for Jimmy, I also screamed at him and hated him at times. I mean Liv, Jimmy? Really? Liv over and over? You are such a vindictive cliche. But it's not a bad thing for the reader. This story has layers and will inspire passion and tears. It's really that good. It also helps that these aren't young kids. Jimmy is 28 but the life he's lived gives him an older soul and Lena is the same. The love story felt real, deserved, and mature. Their story continues in the next book, where they experience a couple of surprises as a sub-plot to the main story of Ben. Yay!

The only annoyance I had with this book was all the "L" named characters (Liv, Lena, Lizzie, Lori, Lauren and I'm probably forgetting some). Overall, worth the read and the best of all four books. It felt like Lena deserved this rock star and really made him a better person. He brings her a sense of purpose and hard-won love. No one has looked out for her the way Jimmy does, even before he realizes he's in love with her. It's a natural instinct for him, something he hasn't displayed with anyone else in his life. For the first time, he wants to build something instead of destroying it. Go Lena!
