Présentation de l'éditeur

***Books 1 & 2, Now Available On Audio Book!***

See how it all begins ... Book #1 in the bestselling book series, the Legend of the Firewalker.

Teenagers with supernatural powers.

A college town deep in folklore, murder and mystery.

A vengeful secret order.

And fallen angels with dark and powerful forces that will stop at nothing to find the one they seek...

"Give this book a try! From the very beginning you're going to get thrown into scenes that are down right creepy. Mr. Bevil seems to enjoy eliciting some of our instinctive fears of the dark, and the unknown." Amazon Reviewer

"This book was well written and I read it pretty fast! I loved Nathan's dialogue and the things he would say while hanging out with his friends was hilarious. Right away this story starts off interesting and kept me wanting to read more." Goodreads Reviewer

Back of the Book

A black hooded figure suddenly appeared behind her. She gasped and her brown eyes grew wide. Nathan watched helplessly as a small trickle of blood fell from her mouth. Other hooded figures appeared; their silver swords clutched upright against their chests. Nathan held tight to her lifeless body while trying to fight back the tears that swelled in his eyes. "No," he cried. "No!"

Nineteen-year-old Nathan Urye is supposed to be having a relaxing summer as a camp counselor but ever since he started having nightmares about a beautiful girl being hunted by flesh-clawing monsters, his life has been anything but normal.

Soon, Nathan discovers that the sleepy college town of Cahokia Falls is far from ordinary when two unexplained deaths rock the town and campus. Who or what is behind the murders? Does it have anything to do with the newly-discovered cave symbol? And what about the spine-chilling campfire stories about ancient tribal beliefs and mystical legends?

For Nathan Urye, things just keep getting creepier and creepier, and now it appears that everyone at camp is in danger...

This book made me regret my rule about finishing every book I start. Like a 10 year old reading a book on writing and then writing a book. One of the collage male students ask another collage male students not to leave his room till he fell asleep because he was scared. Guys don't do that. Everyone…even the evil characters all rolled their eyes throughout the book. The book had so many mistakes it got ridiculous. They get in the car to go see Bobby. They put their seat belts on. He slam on the breaks and the guy in the back seat lands in the front between the seat. He gets back in the back seat and puts his seat belt on Again. You can't remember you just wrote two lines ago the guy already put his seat belt on. You reread lines over just to make sure you read it correctly because it contradicts something wrote earlier. This happens the whole book. I will never forget the authors name that's for sure. God forbid I mistakenly download anything of his again.

This book was so poorly written that I would give it no stars if I could. I shouldn't have expected much from a free book, but this was awful. For example, there is a difference between a smile, a grin, a smirk, and a sneer. This fellow doesn't seem to understand which is which or when to use the correct noun. The author struggles to express the thoughts of a character who is speaking to him- or herself. Moreover, I cannot understand why the author chose to use "ugh" as a filler Yes, the term has its place, but this author's use of "ugh" seemed inapposite. The English language has thousands and thousands of words. It is unfortunate that this author's apparent favorite is "ugh". The story was convoluted, but not in a surprising or interesting way; the adults in the story were all hiding something and the teenagers were all just jerks. I didn't want to finish, but I did just to see if it got any better. I shouldn't have bothered.

I confess, I haven't made it very far in this book, and I am honestly not sure if I want to continue reading it or not.
I feel like there could be potential for this to be a good book (which is why I'm leaving a review), but getting there is rather tortuous. It's almost like reading a draft. The story doesn't flow. I mean it kind of makes sense from a narrative point of view, but I'm not sure if it's the odd dialogue or the excessive visual details or what, but after Leah, the characters are awkward for me. Nathan is supposed to be the hero, but he just kind of comes off as a bit of a brat thus far. There is a disconnect between what is happening and his reactions to it. I mean if I were having nightmares about a girl and find out they were real, I'd be freaked. But you don't get that in the story. I mean, Nathan is a poor orphan who lives with his loving grandfather who is a caretaker for a rich family. There are a lot of things that the author could have done to make him more relatable, but it just gets lost in the background. For me, a good book makes you feel like you are inside the characters- I go through what they go through- I feel their pain and the details are just that- details. I'm not sure if the author was trying to do too many perspectives at once, or what, but I want to feel what Nathan is feeling, not just be aware of it.
With a good book, getting to the end is effortless- like flying. For me, getting to the end of this one is more like plodding. And just to be clear- flying is way more fun.

Unlike some of the reviews I read, I thought the book started off slow and struggled early on to have the desire to continue reading. As the story developed I was continually drawn in more and more until the end which seemed vague as to how those who were in the cemetery actually escaped from those on the other side. I do however look forward to reading the second book in the series hoping that it will give a little more clarity to the legend of the Firewalker and those who are gifted to use the Pneuma Novo. That and The Order which is a gaping hole with very little explanation about The Order including who are among their members other than Argus.
