Présentation de l'éditeur

From the New York Times, USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author..

A USA Today Bestselling Novel..
The pain was unbearable, but I had to keep moving. I had to keep running because, if I didn’t, he’d find me. I looked behind me as I ran through the streets; scared, alone, and in the dark as the mist of rain hit my face. There was no time to think, and there was no time to stop. My shoes were soaked as they sloshed through the puddles of the dimly lit streets.
My name is Rory Sinclair, and the night I was violently attacked was the night that changed my life forever. One man, a man named Ian Braxton, made it his mission to heal me, to save me, and to show me a world that previously had been only a dream to me.
Ian Braxton is far from perfect. He’s a self-absorbed, demeaning, arrogant, and womanizing millionaire. He makes it so easy to hate him, but so very hard to resist him. We’re from opposite sides of the spectrum. He comes from money and I come from poverty. When our worlds collide, his struggles become mine, and mine become his, leaving us with one question:
How much would you give up to be with someone who was meant to be yours?

I have to admit I'm having a hard time finishing this book - I probably will just because I'm already at 80% but I find myself rolling my eyes since I passed the 40% mark. The book started out so strong, and I was really excited to see how the characters will grow; they both have their shares of demons. Oh, so far there's been some character growth, but the absolute wrong kind. Rory came from such a tough background, what with her childhood and her most recent stabbing, experiences that could've made her either strong or extremely broken. The author however chose to make her 'strong' by turning her into a hormonal teenager. Apparently she cannot have a conversation without screaming, storming out while crying, and slamming a door.

At first that was OK, but when you literally have to read that every other page it gets very tiring. In fact, Ian pretty much communicates the same way (minus the crying). My goodness, if my bf and I communicated our frustrations that way all the time, we'd end up breaking up. I find I can no longer empathize nor associate with her character, and that's sad. Hopefully it'll finish the way it started, strong.

Sandi Lynn sure knows how to make you fall in love with all the characters in her books! Ian and Rory had remarkable chemistry and spark.

Rory is a girl who's life has been full of pain and suffering. She was left to care for herself and her mentally ill twin brother after her mother died when she was just a child.

Ian is a handsome millionaire who doesn't do love or relationships. He is with a different woman almost every night.

Ian saves Rory after finding her stabbed and bleeding on the street. He takes care of her and wants to basically be friends with benefits. Rory finds herself falling in love with him even as he continually lets her know he doesn't do relationships. However, his actions don't always match his words. He's so kind one moment and then pushes her away the next.

Rory can't take the heartbreak and leaves. Will her leaving make Ian see what he is missing, or will he continue to deny his feelings?

My Review:

So Rory is stabbed and stumbles into Ian on the side walk. She is taken to his home, where she is medically tended to and where Ian can look after her. As soon as she wakes up Ian demands to know what has happened to her and who she is. Feeling a little overwhelmed she denies him this information which infuriates him. Ian is a man who gets exactly what he wants.

But he is also a huge player. He wants to have sex with Rory; however he does not want to commit to her and he still wants to “see” other women. He wants to know everything about Rory without giving up any information about himself.

Ian appeared to be a very closed off man who lacks the subtle art of emotional communication. There were several times throughout the book where I felt like Rory was a better person than I was. Because I think I would have drop kicked him and left him double over in pain while walking away!!!

I get that he has abandonment issues, and a crappy role model in his life. But come on!!! Be an adult and grow up! Thankfully, Ian’s ex-wife befriends Rory. At first, I was not sure what to make of the ex. I thought that maybe… just maybe she may be playing Rory, but she was not. Turns out, she was a very good friend to her. It was nice to see a book where the girl could trust the other woman and not find out that she was back stabbing. I liked that everyone was on Rory’s side and not Ian’s. It made me feel part of the crowd, lol. I also liked that she was not whiny and was able to stand up for herself. I’m tired of reading books where the heroine doesn’t know when to walk away.

Now does Ian let her walk….. No. He is a complete Alpha-Male who has to have things his way. Ian did eventually redeem himself in my eyes when he promised her ill brother that he would take care of both of them! He realized that he was being a jerk and could not live without Rory. He finally put some effort into their relationship and went after his girl!

I really enjoyed the book. I did feel as though the ending was a little rush, but there is to be a second book. So we will see how this continues……….

Wow, just wow! Two completely broken people in two completely different way. Sandi Lynn does an amazing job sucking you into the story of Rory and Ian.
Rory just needs to survive, that's how Ian finds her, or that's how she falls into his limo and his life. But who is Rory and why and who does she need saving from? Rory has nothing, no one except her brother Stephen and he needs more help then she does. Rory has no money, no clothes or a place to stay. When Ian saves her he gives her those things and more.

Ian, the brooding millionaire, the sexy man whore of real estate development with a messed up view of women and relationships, mostly from his past and what his father has taught him. He tries to continue being the man he was before Rory fell into his life, but little by little he starts to soften and just when you think he's going to give it his all something pulls him back.
When faced with losing something you think will always be in your life, would you give up your way of thinking and go with your gut? Would you follow your heart even if it meant you got hurt?
❤️ Tara
