Lionville sind: Stefano Lionetti: Lead & backing Vocals, guitars mit: Lars Säfsund: Lead & backing vocals Alessandro Del Vecchio: Keyboards & backing vocals Pierpaolo Zorro Monti: Drums & percussion und: Mario Percudani: Guitars Andrea Maddalone: Guitars Anna Portalupi: Bass Amos Monti: Bass very special guests: Arabella Vitanc: Lead & backing vocals on track 8 Erik Mårtensson: Backing vocals on track 4 Bruce Gaitsch: Guitars on tracks 1,3,5,9,11 Tommy Denander: Guitars on track 8 Sven Larsson: Guitars on tracks 7,9

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Lionville roars with melodic passion! 16 juillet 2011
Par Michael - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Lionville is a new melodic rock project lead by Stefano Lionetti and featuring the amazing vocals of Lars Safsund from Work Of Art. This project includes a stellar group of musicians and songwriters from lots of the best melodic rock bands around the world such as Alessandro Del Vecchio from Eden's Curse, Tommy Denander from every melodic rock album available, Eric Martensson from Eclipse, and legendary songwriter Richard Marx. The combination of high quality memorable songwriting with awesome performances and production makes this one of the best albums of the year. Highlights include the killer opening track "Here By My Side", the powerful melodies of "With You", the uplifting anthem "Thunder In Your Heart", the catchy feel of "Dreamhunter", and the classic ballad "The World Without Your Love". Despite being a new project, Lionville is definitely one of the best albums this year and is highly recommended to fans of Toto, Richard Marx, Khymera, and Work Of Art - 4.5 stars.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 A Project featuring the Who's Who of European Melodic Rock. 27 janvier 2013
Par Dairenn Lombard - Publié sur Amazon.com
Backed by Work Of Art's Lars Säfsund, Alessandro Del Vecchio on keys, Erik Martensson, Sven Larsson and Tommy Denander, Stefano Lionetti's debut album, the eponymously-titled LIONVILLE released by Gregor Klee on his label, with additional backing by Alessandro Lionetti. Bass guitar duties were fulfilled by Anna Portalupi and Amos Monti. Except for two songs, music was composed and arranged by Stefano while the lyrics were mostly written by drummer Pierpaolo Monti, Alessandro, Lars and even Robert Säll--also from Work Of Art--on two of the tracks. Stefano's vocals appears on tracks like "Centre of my Universe" and "Over and Over Again" while Arabella Vitanc is the female voice on "The Chosen Ones"--otherwise, you're hearing mostly Lars on lead vocals. My initial impression of this album is that fans of Survivor would really love the music on this CD.

In spite of the army of musicians responsible for the works recorded on this album, it has a remarkably cohesive sound nonetheless. And despite of Säll and Säfsund appearing on "With You," and "No End in Sight," the songs do not sound like Work Of Art tracks that didn't make it to the final cut of one of their albums. The glue by far is Lionetti's compositions throughout the CD. One of the few exceptions was The Chosen Ones, where the music was composed by three different guitarists, including Tommy Denander. None the less, it is one of the four best songs on the album.

Another great song is "Dreamhunter," co-written by Stefano and Alessandro Lionetti with words by the whole gang plus Riccardo Gazzaniga--very up lifting, creative, and even a keyboard solo. One of the catchier songs is "Power of my Dreams," and one of the top two songs on the whole album, perhaps benefiting by being a simple team up between Stefano--who also sings on this track--and Pierpaolo. Like much of the album, there is a lot of power, energy, and spirit with this track, benefitting from the bright mix and clear sonic quality throughout. However, by far, the greatest track is the lead off song "Here By My Side"--so catchy, so memorable with a sound so good, I am dumbfounded that this song and songs like it are not in constant rotation on FM radio, reminding me why I almost Never listen to FM radio except for the occasional jaunt to the country station where there are sometimes songs that sound like "Here By My Side."

The artwork will not blow you away--although the logo is quite cool--but the liner notes are excellent, including detailed descriptions about who did what and in what parts of the song like the old days on albums like Screaming for Vengeance by Judas Priest, where they cared to impart those details to their fans. Just having photos of all of the recording artists to have appeared on this somewhat historic release alone makes it worth buying it on CD. This is a gem of a product to own.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 3.5 stars - hear them roar...well, softly at least 4 août 2011
Par Justin G. - Publié sur Amazon.com

Lionville is a new project, and AOR supergroup of sorts, put together by guitarist/vocalist Stefano Lionetti and featuring the considerable vocal talents of Work of Art frontman Lars Safsund. It also boasts an impressive array of guest performers, including keyboardist/producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Eden's Curse/Edge of Forever), Eric Martensson (Eclipse, WET), Tommy Denander (Houston) and Sven Larsson (Street Talk).

Given the players involved, it's not really a surprise that there is very little roar in these lions. Lionville's debut is an ultra-smooth, super-polished West Coast-style AOR album that's big on lush melodies and beautiful vocals, but doesn't have a lot of rock punch. That said, they do this kind of AOR extraordinarily well. Most of the songs on this album all have that "love theme from the `80s action flick soundtrack" vibe. "Thunder in My Heart" was actually used (performed by a different artist) on the Rad soundtrack back in the day. It's not all ballad city though. "With You" has an electric, Journey-esque sound, and the anthemic "The Chosen Ones" - a duet with Alyson Avenue vocalist Arabella Vitanic - is a very catchy, very rocking number, and is probably the album's best song. Of course, these songs are offset by some sappy ballads that sound more like church praise music than rock songs. In the end though, the gems outweigh the duds.

If you're a fan of old school pure AOR along the lines of Work of Art, Toto, Street Talk and Steve Perry's solo material, chances are you'll love this Lionville CD. If you like your melodic rock to actually rock, you may want to sample a few songs before buying. It's really good for what it is, but you may need to play some Motorhead or Slayer immediately afterwards to balance your testosterone levels!
5.0 étoiles sur 5 AOR group featuring members of "Work of Art", "Shining Line" and "Eden's Curse" 18 juillet 2011

Format: CD
"Lionville" is the self-titled debut album by Italian AOR/melodic rock super group built around newcomer vocalist/guitarist Stefano Lionetti, featuring lead singer Lars Safsund ("Work of Art"), keyboardist Alessandro Del Vecchio ("Edge of forever", "Eden's Curse") and drummer Pierpaolo Monti ("Shining Line").

Lionetti's vision is to deliver authentic, unblended AOR/melodic rock emphasizing subtlety and intensity on each and every of the eleven songs found on "Lionville". The objective alone is incredibly demanding yet through the support of his band, Stefano more than meets his goal. There is a fair amount of AOR ballads namely "Centre of my Universe" "World without you love and "Say Goodbye"; still it is probably the up tempo material that uncover the potential of "Lionville": "Thunder in your heart" is a powerful-as-it-gets melodic rocker with a classic chorus. "The power of my dreams" is the potential radio hit, up lifting and harmonious with an equally infectious chorus. Finally there is the male-female duet "The Chosen ones", a majestic melodic opus featuring guest vocals by Arabella Vitanic ("Alyson Avenue"), guaranteed to deliver an adrenaline rush to any fan of the genre.

Overall "Lionville" delivers on the promise of a classic sounding AOR/melodic rock album that sounds fresh and mature at the same time. No question "Lionville" fits perfectly with the summertime vibe and could be considered the ideal AOR holiday album at that. If you are a fan of any of the groups mentioned above, you will definitely make the most of this exemplary AOR/melodic rock release. Definitely looking forward to a follow up.

Well what can I say about this CD, it's a great album full with great musicians. The rock songs "Here by my side", "With you" , "Thunder in your heart" and "The Chosen ones" are truly AOR/Melodic Rock gems; "Center of the universe" is a cool uptempo ballad that reminds me a lot of Richard Marx's classic albums. The reason that I scored this one 4 stars is that it has some fillers, there are some soft songs that I think are not AOR, instead I find them more onto a west-cost/michael bolton category. Still it's worth it to get it. Actually I tend to like this CD over the latest Work of Art CD.
