Présentation de l'éditeur

The Only Book You Will Ever Need for Managing PCOS—Completely Revised and Updated

What exactly is PCOS? What are the signs and symptoms? How is the diagnosis confirmed? What causes it? And most importantly, what can you do about it? If you’ve been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or suspect you have it, and you’re looking for a way to manage your condition, you’ve come to the right place.

In this newly revised edition of Living Well with PCOS, Dr. Jennie Brand-Miller and PCOS experts Drs. Nadir Farid and Kate Marsh address the root cause of PCOS—insulin resistance—and show you how eating a low-GI diet can help alleviate even your most troublesome symptoms, including weight gain, infertility, unsightly hair growth, irregular cycles, and fatigue. This all-new second edition features:
  • The latest up-to-date research on PCOS and its treatment
  • New quick-and-easy low-GI recipes
  • Low-GI kick-start menus—with vegetarian and gluten-free options
  • Easy-to-use tables of GI values
  • Tips for a more active lifestyle

I already knew a lot about PCOS and that the route cause was from insulin resistance as I've done a lot of research over the years, but it was nice to have everything written down in front of me which I can refer to again and again when I need to. Although I knew about PCOS and insulin resistance and a little bit about eating low GI, i didn't know how eating low GI helped with combating PCOS symptoms and helping insulin resistance. I haven't yet tried the recipes in the book, but they look really yummy and I'm looking forward to trying them over the next few days. Also the sample menu looks like it will be really easy to follow :) I also like the fact that there is a clear table of foods at the back of the book with the GI, Carb and GL information which I've always struggled to find online. I can now easily refer to it whenever I want. Seems like a really easy way to eat healthily without having to cut out essential food groups or your favorite foods which often doesn't work long term.

When I found out I had PCOS I was going crazy with which book I should get to tell me EVERYTHING I need to know about PCOS and this book did it for me. It literally tells you everything you need to know to improve your living style, from eatting, working out, improving chances of having a child and how, list of what to buy from the market, just so much. I was told to take pills to help my PCOS but the tought of taking pills everyday made me so sad so I never even touched the pills and just did what the book said and........things have improved so much for me that Im hopeful that I will have no problem having a child. I will start trying this Sept. :)

This cookbook is very helpful. I like the information but it was lacking recipes. The information was good for my condition though and I appreciate that.
