Présentation de l'éditeur

Lube of Life is the emotional, physical, and spiritual juice that fills our hearts with excitement, surprise, and possibility. From a chance online encounter, Mindy and Edward tease and tiptoe their way through e-mails and chat rooms, discovering that the difference between dating in the 1960s and being sixty, is little more than expanded insight and the color of one's hair. Facing challenges and risking insecurities, they decide to meet in the middle, to create new possibilities as they share laughter, passion, and their tender selves. With a dose of daring and the belief that age is just a number, this hope-filled, humorous, and poignant tale of searching for new love in mid-life opens the door to the adventure of discovering your true passion through the heart of another.

I picked up this book at the bookstore and event though I wasn't in the "boomer" age, as it describes, I had to read it. I felt drawn in immediately by this tale. A true story of a couple, each looking for love in their 60′s. They find each other on a dating site and acknowledge they are too far away from each other in distance by a few hours and a few hundred miles, and tell each other that they may not even like one another in person.

Each meeting is their "last" meeting and never ends up being their last. I don't want to post spoilers, but I kept on reading their real-life conversations and interactions- feeling as if I was peeking into their private lives. I loved this format!

I laughed at Mindy's funny comments to Edward and felt her developing feelings toward this unique and understanding man. I read between the lines of her comments and felt her love before she even acknowledged them. I marveled at the fun interaction between the two- almost jealous of their journey.

They realized that the "lube of life is the emotional, physical, and spiritual juice that keeps us young, excited and open to possibilities." Throughout their journey, I am impressed by not only their ability to retell their story, but also by their honestly back and forth. The integrity, humor, and excitement jumps from the pages.

I want more! This was one of the few books I wasn't able to put down until I had finished it! What a sweet and touching story about two people of my generation that fumble along towards love, defining and re-defining it, and finally breaking all of the traditional definitions foisted upon our generation to create their own unique brand of togetherness. It is a true testament to the human spirit and the power of words. The vulnerability shown through the two separate voices was genuine and engaging and I found myself becoming upset with one, and then the other, knowing early on that they were perfect for each other and they were blowing it. Like a true fairy tale, love prevailed, and I have heartily recommended this book to all of my friends! It was so inspiring I even decided to try internet dating again! Thank you Mindy and Edward for a delightful read. Can hardly wait for the next installment...

Welcome to Reality Books as a genre. Mindy and Edward, aka ClarityNow and FunMrEdward, relying mostly on e-mail, chat, texting and phone conversation histories rather than diaries as in days of yore, have created a modern-day picture of the trials and tribulations of two sixty-somethings going steady in the digital age. What the reader learns of the pair comes through the highlights of their saved communiques, often consisting of light banter, with occasional edits that add measured perspective to their saved words. One's voyeuristic side is teased, just as the two tease each other. This is not a guide to character development. It is more useful as a primer for what to consider as singles contemplate getting back in the game; for considering what each does and does not want; for once more determining whether to take a chance on love... for once again risking heartbreak. I suspect most readers, this one included, will end up yearning for more depth, more raw emotion, more revelations. I put down Lube of Life feeling I knew a bit about Mindy, the lead author, and even less about who Edward is. In a metaphoric sense, the voyeur teased in me wanted the two to open their shorts more, rather than simply fade to black. I trust that the closing three words in the 224-page book will lead us more in that direction.

HASH(0x9930536c) étoiles sur 5 and was delighted with it 3 août 2015

Received this book unexpectedly, and was delighted with it! I started with the thought of finishing it in pieces over a period of a couple weeks. That didn't happen: I put my other reading aside and read this start to finish. Mindy and Edward are looking for companionship, relationship, and love - if it happens. Not a likely match, especially since they live 200 miles apart, still they start corresponding through an Internet match site. Through their match site exchanges, then e-mails and texts, we watch the couple explore their chances. The compelling part for me was virtually observing their relationship unfold in real time. No relationship ever ends; we carry them with us even after saying goodbye. So, all the more reason to hope that there will be a sequel. Don't keep us in suspense.

The true story of middle-aged single people that met on the internet? Yup. I met my husband online 14 years ago when he was 59 and I was 47, and we went through many of the same things Mindy and Edward did...not necessarily with each other, but definitely on the path to finding each other.

This honest, open and highly entertaining account of two people finding love in cyber-space should give hope to those who think they'll never find Mister of Ms. Right at their (advanced) age. As long as you're not illiterate, you just might score!

Way to go, Mindy & Edward!
