This is an absolutely great book and I can't give it any less than the 5 stars that it deserves for several reasons. I have tried numerous meditation techniques for a variety of reasons but the ones outlined in this book are by far the most easy to understand and most importantly, effective methods that I have came across so far.

What I admire the most about this book is the clear, concise writing style that is used to express the information in a way that the average person can understand. I found some great results especially from the chakra meditations and I really like how the book focuses on a 30 day method that I'm sure even the busiest people out there can incorporate into their lifestyle. I haven't finished the whole 30 days yet but I already feel more energized and grounded and I am looking forward to seeing some more great results. I highly recommend it for any beginners that are serious about meditation.

If I could, I'd give this book 10 stars!! This is THE BOOK for beginners & anyone else wanting to further learn and go deeper in depth in their meditation path

The author includes a mindful activity each day, along with a quote/day on meditation

It's a 4 week "program" & the author starts the reader off with 2-3 min/day, breathing meditations. Takes you on a slow beginning to allow you to learn to focus for longer periods of time as the book progresses. The first week is devoted to just breathing exercises in meditation

Week 2 is now devoted to 10 minutes of meditation once/day---minimum and teaches the 7 chakras. This week goes through each chakra/day. Author tells name of chakra, the color to imagine, what part of the body it's good for & what happens when it's out of balance & when it's on a good path , how it helps you

Week 3 is mantra meditation and meditation is now increased to 15 minutes/day. Gives a word /day to say while doing your 15 minute meditation. Later after finished , in the future , you can choose your own word if you like that helps you find your inner peace or happiness

Week 4 is now increased to 20 minutes of meditation but it's a mix of meditations. Author guides the reader through different other meditations , not done in the book up until now

I absolutely enjoyed being guided on a daily meditation path. I looked forward to each day, excited at what it was going to teach me, the mindful activity & becoming more focused as time went on. It really helped it starting out slowly but always given the choice as to how much you wanted to do. For me, it has helped me find an alternative to stressors, esp. now during the holiday season, and I now continue to use the book to re-read the meditations I found most helpful. I wasn't a fan of all of them, but was happy to have learned about them, & I don't need to use them in future if not for me since there are so many other forms of meditation explained in the book

I HIGHLY recommend this book if you love meditation, mindfulness and/or you're looking for alternative ways to help with stress in your life. For myself, prior to this month of meditation, my thoughts were all scattered, I was much more hyper & easily irritated. Now, I feel more at peace , calmer & able to focus better and control my emotions better. It's not a cure all but the author definitely gives the reader the tools to use within yourself!!

I can't praise this book highly enough!

Meditation is the act of conscious thought. It reduces stress and increases mental focus. In this ‘primer’ for beginners Inbar Shahar teaches the basic meditation techniques (breathing and mindfulness, mindfulness games, image meditation, Chakra meditation, Mantra meditation and a variety of other types.

The unique aspect of this book is the unhurried manner in which the meditation methods are presented. Inbar Shahar divides the book into weeks: Week 1 breathing and mindfulness, Week 2 Chakra meditation, Week 3 Mantra meditation, and Week 4 a fascinating variety of types of meditation - Zen meditation, Love meditation, Stone meditation, Nature – walking meditation, Passage meditation, Taoist meditation, Sense meditation, Open eye meditation, and day of Vispassana (the Buddhist practice of seeing the world as it is). She takes us day by day of this month-long journey of inspirational awakening, carefully explains how to enter into each state of the meditation, each day building on the next until by the end of 30 days we have been through a basic course of practicing meditation.

By the end of the 30 days, according to Shahar ‘you should feel relaxed, focused, and re-energized. After 30 days, meditation should be a habit for you. As you continue to meditate, you and your life will benefit. Soon, you may even crave meditation.’
Though this is a review of a book shared by Inbar Shahar, this reader has started the daily moments and the manner in which this gentle guide directs us works! An excellent book. Grady Harp, November 13

3½-4 stars depending upon what you are looking for.

This is a nice little workbook to explore meditation. It provides thirty days of meditation exercises. You can read each chapter in a couple of minutes, then practice the meditation outlined in that chapter, and be done for the day. Unless you want to practice some more.

The author is not asking that you meditate for 15-20 minutes twice a day. Start out with two three-minute practices. Try something slightly different the next day, and the next. Over time you will know what works for you. It is a simple, comfortable non-pushy approach.

Very well thought out. Starts out with short sessions and then goes into different types of meditation. I found it informative and thoughtful. Perfect way for the beginner or novice to slowly build the habit of meditating.
