1st recipe calls for pasilla peppers (really the chilaca pepper in its dried form) of which she never explains. They are NOT necesary and somewhat difficult to find except at Mexican grocery stores. Many people confuse them with fresh poblanos that are regularly available fresh or dried as ancho peppers. Poblanos are quite common and not really hot. They are nicely spiced but not hot. They are used as the stuffing peppers in chile rellenos. She calls for both chopped tomatoes and tomato juice on top of 6 cups chicken broth or, just plain old water. Sounds way too watered down to me, She suggests baking cheddar cheese (Paleo says NO cheese) into mounds but never lists a quantity or even an ingredient in the list. Then, and here's the other non Paleo part, she tells you to add tortilla chips but to make sure they are "paleo"! Huh? Does that mean you have to make your own "nontortilla" chips out of coconut and almond flour?

Paleo is about fresh not processed foods. Taco soup has both a large quantity of canned diced tomatoes (28 ounces is a canned size) plus 1 cup salsa in addition to the pepper and garlic and onion already added. She doesn't realize the difference between Mexican oregano and Italian oregano. Plus a 4 ounce can of roasted green chiles, again not fresh. Ground beef is NOT automatically low fat unless you take a lean cut of even grass fed beef and grind it yourself. Beef animals (even grass fed ones) put down fat between their muscles so you have to have lean cuts in order to get lean ground beef. It just doesn't fall off the bone into your shopping cart. Just check it out at Whole Foods sometime. She thinks "Cauilrice" gives this recipe its "taco flavor". Guess it is from the "Lard" she thinks Mexicans still use to cook with --most of them don't any more and Paleo NEVER does!

She claims white "Mushrooms are rich in Vitamin D" -- NOT! 100 grams of raw white mushrooms have 7 mg Vitamin D (USDA Nutr Database SR 26) and we need 400+ IU a day. She is one of the most uninformed, dangerous cookbook writers I've read in a LONG time!

She claims "Using sea salt instead of normal salt helps to increase the iodine content in the food which helps to stimulate healthy thyroid functioning." Not at ALL! Regular table salt with iodine added has MORE iodine that sea salt by testing.

Where do you buy "Mandolin - sliced (2 cups)" in the kitchen appliance section of Wal Mart?
"Slice the plantain into potato chip sized slices. Place it on a baking sheet and cover it with slices of mandolin. You should then cover it with the plantain." This is a direct quote!

Why do you add "Beef - half pound (roast or boneless or steak)" in a recipe called "Paleo Chicken Fajitas"?

I need a nap -- this is hard work finding all the mistakes in the first 44% of this book. No where near ready for even B grade movies!

Just the soup recipes alone would be reason enough for me to get this book. They are easy, healthy, and delicious. Adding the mexican-style spices and flavors to a Paleo diet is a great idea. It keeps things interesting for me, and I know I'm more likely to eat healthy when the food tastes good. Probably like everyone else, too! Stuffed chilies, chorizo egg bake, and tostadas with prawn and cod are also excellent. Great recipes!

I personally love paleo and this guide about Mexican paleo is what I just was looking for. It contains many healthy and delicious recipes that I can't wait to try all of them. If you love Mexican food, then this guide is for you. Highly recommend it

Mexican Paleo is definitely a complete Paleo recipe guide covering right from soups to appetizers to main courses to desserts with lots of innovative options, especially since there are so very few Mexican cooking guides for Paleo diet followers in the market.

Taco Salad dressing is an amazing spicy recipe for Paleo diet lovers since there hardly any Paleo dressings available commercially and works great for most of your salads. For those with a sweet tooth, there are some yummy dessert recipes. The chocolate macaroons came out very well and has become an instant hit with my family.

This is a great addition for those with a spicy tongue and who would love to learn more of Mexican Cooking!

There are some interesting ideas here for making Paleo versions of your favourite Mexican dishes but this book needs an editor with a box of red pens! If you can wrap your head around all the confusing and conflicting instructions you might find a recipe or two to add to your repertoire. I downloaded it while it was free so I haven't lost anything on this book.
