Here’s the secret that’s not even a secret anymore. It’s revolutionary, thrilling science. Positive thinking actually changes your brain, and not in some hippy, woo-woo kind of way; it changes your brain in a physical way.
The science is called neuroplasticity. It means that the thoughts we think are able to actually change the structure and function of our brains. The idea of neuroplasticity was first introduced in 1890 by William James, and it was vehemently rejected by scientists who as a whole believed that the brain is rigidly mapped, with certain parts of the brain controlling certain functions. They all said if that part died or was damaged, the function was to be altered or lost entirely. Well, it’s starting to look like they were dead wrong.
