5.0 étoiles sur 5 Unusual Paths to Simplicity...and Flossing 1 décembre 2013
Par Roger D. Pavey - Publié sur
Format: Format Kindle
I followed a link to the author's website because I was intrigued by the idea mini-missions. My practice is to not buy books like this because they are usually filled with a few dozen things that have already been thought of before...nothing earth shattering. But I purchased Mini Missions for Simplicity because of one bizarre reference to flossing in the shower. After the initial "that's weird" reaction, I became amused, and then...converted. For 46 years I have flossed about four days per year, only when a dentist appointment looms. Now I floss in the shower every day, because it is easy. Simple. You won't use every idea in this book, but I made notes as I went along and am using exactly seven. Seven new areas of focus. All are easy. All have added purpose to my life. I don't want to give away much more, but I can tell you that I now send a monthly care package to someone - just because. The second one is out the door and I can't wait to continue this all year. I had not mailed a package or letter to anyone in a very long time, and it feels great. I have reduced clutter in creative ways. I am even working on sleeping better. Not much success on that one, yet.

Simplicity is... simple to grasp but not EASY to attain, in our cluttered lives and minds.
Here's a book which teaches you how to reach simplicity, in every aspect of your life, by taking small actions, one at the time, at your own pace.

Over the last six months I've implemented a few of these micro-actions into my daily life with great satisfaction. Some have been easier than other but all of them have slowly unraveled the beauty and freedom of Living More with Less.

It's a challenge, it's counterintuitive at times, but you can't go wrong, you can always go back (should you ever wish to), and you can start now. Try it.

Giving this three stars because there's nothing new here. But I do like the format of the mini missions and how easy it is to go through the entire book. I recommend this book for those who've read other books on simplicity as you'll have the background knowledge on some of the reasoning behind the tips. This is also a good reference for when you want to take baby step in living a simple life.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Mini-missions is a good idea……but 22 avril 2014

I am a very organized person and have recently been doing a lot of reading on minimalism and simplicity (even though I already practice a lot of this). I found this book to be redundant from the blog site. It had a couple of refreshing ideas, but for the most part is common sense or things we have read over and over.

I've been a fan of Courtney's work since 2010, and her mini missions are among my favorite of her lessons. This book invites the reader to find a more lovely life, one little change at a time. A fantastic resource.
