The Morning of the Magicians by Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier... taught me live your life in the visible and the invisible world . --Paolo Coelho --Ce texte fait référence à l'édition Broché .

Présentation de l'éditeur

It is not science-fiction, although it cites myths on which that literary form has fed. Nor is it a collection of bizarre facts, though the Angel of the Bizarre might well find himself at home in it. It is not a scientific contribution, a vehicle for an exotic teaching, a testament, a document, a fable. It is simply an account at times figurative, at times factual of a first excursion into some as yet scarcely explored realms of consciousness. The Morning of the Magicians is a classic of radical literature, a book that has challenged assumptions and conventional knowledge for decades. It has shaken the foundations of beliefs all over the world and may be the most influential book published in the twentieth century. Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier spent years searching through all the regions of consciousness, to the frontiers of science and tradition and opened their minds to any fact or theory that went beyond the frontier of current theories. The result is this remarkable work, and the stream of possibilities that it contains: Do mutants exist, are they a future form of man? Does extrasensory perception reveal that human consciousness has advanced beyond its currently accepted limits? What connects the ancient art of alchemy and modern atomic physics? All that the authors ask is that their readers put aside all prejudice and assumption and consider a different method of interpreting reality. Open your mind and be brave enough to believe. --Ce texte fait référence à l'édition Broché .

NOTE, this book is the same text as the other separately listed book with same title, but the type face is different.
I did not read this book because I read the other version which has a better type face.
Amazon.com listing both books as if separate books is very much like false advertising. I was fooled and got both. Don't you also be fooled.

It was nice getting another copy. I had read it in the 1990's and found it fascinating sending my mind on several tangents which influence my work to this day. The copy I have is in excellent condition and for me worth the wait in getting it. This would be good for anyone interested in oddities of Charles Fort, or UFO's, "ancient astronauts", human evolution and of ancient history before our official history among other topics. Including human mutations that seem to appear and keep a mostly low profile yet are stellar beyond genius. You don't have to believe or accept any of to get your mind working on the concepts revolving around "what if?" and what it could hold for the future. And since it was published in 1960 and it is 2015 now. We have the luxury of looking back with the hind sight of history.

An entertaining and thought provoking read for the fantasist, SF, paranormal or just strange and exotic ideas. Take your pick you may be all right or all wrong. Who cares if it is entertaining and it gets you to think in different terms about things. Don't be an instant believer, and don't be an instant debunker. Just read, process and see where it leads. It won't bite.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Interesting in context, as a cultural artifact. 4 juin 2015

This book is mostly interesting as a literary artifact. It predates a lot of the "grand conspiracy theory" type of genre literature that has come into the mainstream over the past few decades (with even History Channel now well on board), so is invaluable to people who are interested in tracing the history and evolution of postwar conspiracy theory. The writing is awful and sometimes incomprehensibly verbose; the reasoning, sourcing, research basis, and argumentation is just as poor as most work in the genre. But still, people with an interest in the subject matter should probably at least skim through it and keep a copy for occasional reference.

This book has many elements and truths that are still relevant today. I felt the authors were kind of infatuated with all things pertaining to Hitler. Yes the Vril society, and the Thule are interesting, but a good 2/3 of the book is devoted to this. Otherwise I thought the premise, and scientific data, along with the exploration of the mind and consciousness, and the need to merge Spirit with science were favorable factors that contributed to this volume of scientific? exploration. This was an interesting read, but sometimes I felt the text was needlessly wordy. Overall though I did enjoy most of this offering.
