Brain and Heart Molds that work.
le 14 novembre 2014 - Publié sur Amazon.com
These are good molds. I'd say they were a reasonably good sturdy plastic and they hold a good amount of liquid. But they will require some support when you put them in the fridge to solidify because of the shapes. I set them in bowls that were just small enough that the lips of the molds rested on them. I noticed in previous reviews there were complaints about washing them. I would not consider these dishwasher safe and when hand washing, I've found being gentle has been helpful though it feels like it would take a serious amount of force to ruin the detail work on these. Getting the jello out of the molds isn't difficult. The secret is to apply a very thin film of cooking spray on the molds for easy removal. And by "very thin" I mean the suggestion of a whisper of a hint of thin film on the molds. Literally, I put them on the floor, sprayed them from high up then wiped them out with a paper towel so that there was the tiniest amount left.

Excellent product for Halloween feasting
le 2 novembre 2015 - Publié sur Amazon.com
I used both molds this Halloween. I did wash them in the dishwasher both before and after use, and there were absolutely no ill effects. I just put them in the top rack of the dishwasher. In my kitchen, everything must withstand the dishwasher. These molds are quite sturdy and will hold up for years, I believe. I made Martha Stewart's shrimp cocktail brain using this brain mold. It came out really great. Very creepy looking. Looked very professional. Just make sure to take time to line your shrimp up carefully. That recipe uses unflavored gelatin to hold everything together, and the recipe adds lots of stuff to the gelatin, apparently to give it flavor. I did not like the flavor, and will simply use unflavored gelatin with nothing added next Halloween. I used cherry Jell-o for the heart, and this was a mistake. The heart was too transparent, and the fine detail did not show up. Next year, I will use one of the online recipes that call for canned milk to make the heart opaque. I will also use some fine-tipped squeeze gel (the type that comes in a tube for writing on cakes) to accent the details. That should look great. To make the molds easy to unmold, I simply sprayed each mold with cooking oil (like PAM or what have you) before filling, and I sat each mold in a pan of warm water for about five minutes prior to unmolding to loosen them up. I turned them upside down, gave them a few shakes, and the contents slid out beautifully. I highly recommend these molds if you want some great looking dishes on your Halloween table!

I got this to make an alcohol jello brain for Halloween and it worked great. I added condensed milk for the opaque effect but I think I used the wrong kind or not enough because it settled at the bottom and I got this two toned effect, which actually ended up looking pretty cool. I forgot to spray the molds before I used them and and had some difficulties getting them out. I did learn though, after I messed up the heart that if you set it in bowl of hot water for a few seconds, it melts the edges slightly and it will easily slide right out.
These are great quality molds

These are great quality molds. They do not lay flat obviously or the brain wouldn't be around. So, knowing that you will need to put them in a bowl or wrap a towel around the base in order to keep it upright. I have tried several recipes in these molds trying to make it work. There are several online that work well. I recommend you add less water than traditional Jell-O recipes. Some recipes call for evaporated milk and some recipes call for cottage cheese. They are all great consistencies and will work really well. I have used the mold sense for Plato. I have seen and heard of other people making cheeseballs. All of these are great ideas. Just know, you cannot use regular Jell-O as written on the instructions for traditional Jell-O because it will not be firm enough to hold it shape.
and all-in-all they were a disappointment. First
le 21 novembre 2016 - Publié sur Amazon.com
We used these this past weekend for my daughter's birthday party, and all-in-all they were a disappointment. First, as others have stated, plan on using bowls to hold the molds steady because there is no support to prevent spillage when the mold is setting (this take up a lot of fridge space!). Next, plan on spraying the inside with Pam or olive oil because the Jello doesn't release very well. Our brain did not stand upright as shown but sort of flattened. The heart just broke into pieces and worked much better as colored ice. Bottom line, if you are using these for show and not to eat or to make ice for a punch bowl, the price makes it worthwhile, but if you plan on using jello and hope to eat the finished product, look elsewhere.
