Nikon DK-17M Oculaire Loupe (1,2x) de visée

Produit répondant à mon attente en apportant un confort de visée cependant un peu limité par le fait que le grossissement est un peu trop important et rend les bords un peu difficile d'accès à la vue.
Un grossissement légèrement plus faible (1,15 ?) aurait été peut-être plus adapté.

Bonjour, cet oculaire loupe associé à l'oeilleton DK-19 procure un confort de visée(sur le D 700 ) parfait: plus de lumière parasite,mise au point sur le dépoli, utilisation facilitée avec les objecifs manuels/que du plus !!!

I took ages deciding whether or not to purchase the Nikon DK-17m magnifying eye piece (also bought the Nikon Dk-19 soft rubber eyecup) for my Nikon D800 on account of suffering weight loss and sleepless nights trying toremove the viewfinder eye piece ring from my previous Nikon D700. Oh the embarassment and humiliation which had me standing in the 'Shutter and Lens' camera store in downtown Vancouver, Canada with a piece of cloth and a pair of pliers trying to undo the thing! None of the staff could undo the eyepiece either, but eventually I managed after sweat and tears and could fit a Nikon DR-5 right angled viewfinder whenever desired thereafter.

My recently purchased Nikon D800 also refused to play ball and despite locking the viewfinder window as instructed, the ring would not come off. Anyway, it was easy in the end if you do the following...

On the Nikon D800, remove the clear plastic protector that sits below the eyepiece and over the LCD screen and then you will see that underneath the viewfinder eyepiece ring there is the opportunity to place your thumb or finger on the rubber outer of the ring thanks to a cut out, just do so and turn with the viewfinder cover locked and bingo...off she comes.

Anyway, having successfully sorted the removal of the original eyepiece, I then ordered the Nikon DK-17m magnifying eyepiece and the Nikon DK-19 soft rubber eye cup feeling like a technical God, Thanks to Amazon, they arrived next day at the specified time. Fitting of the rubber cup over the DK-17m is a little tricky and confusing if you try and follow the enclosed Nikon leaflets, until you take a look at a video on You tube. Type in "How to fit dk-17m and dk-19" and scroll down to the excellent foreign language video by Thanatham Piriyakarnjankul on the DK-19 and suddenly it makes perfect sense.

The eyecup is very comfy and with the DK-17m fitted, your eye and face are held away further from the camera which works better, plus stray light and watery eyes are eliminated. Although fairly pricey, I really wholeheartedly recommend fitting both the magnifying eye piece and the rubber eye cup as it transforms your comfort and helps with focusing. Worth every penny and one very satisfied customer here.

1.2x is no miracle

Don't expect a miracle from this lens. 1.2 times magnification is subtle. Some of us are happy with any help we can get. The view is bigger, so you might ask why didn't Nikon fit this as standard ? well, on the down side, the corners of the viewfinder are now darker or slightly vignetted. Where you place your eye relative to the viewfinder is more critical. The viewfinder now stands out about 6mm. from the back camera body. I like this. Fitting is simple - unlock and unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. I am waiting now for my rubber eyecup to go with it, which I expect to make the camera significantly easier to use for me. Don't expect miracles or you will be disapointed.

Installed nice and easy, however i noticed after 1 day of use i was missing side objects in frame, it was just centre based, you have to move your eye around or you dont see the whole framing, which when you got a few seconds to decide is rubbish, ok if your a wildlifer, but events and portraits, nah, back to stock, Have the eye cup also which is nice with Original think its the DK-19, now thats nice to reduce light around your eye. I think if the view finder was Square then this increase would have been ok to use daily with less moving of the eye to see all corners etc.

I wanted this to go with my d800 and already attached DK-19 Eye-cup.

The DK-17M has a 1.2x zoom on it to enlarge the viewfinder (its not a lot for a massive difference but helps for DOF) and please note it has a bit of distortion around the ends of the view finder.

It does extend the viewfinder out so if you have any fitted cases for your camera please be aware it will catch on to something.

Also note that when attaching a the DK-19 Eyepiece to it you have to remove the top rubber ring and replace with the DK-19 otherwise it won't work as it should and you do have to re-focus the viewfinder for DK-17m as it will need adjusting.

I haven't had much time with it but will update if things change.

bought this for a D700 that I bought second-hand. It really makes using the viewfinder much easier and I will always try and install something similar on my cameras in future. What is nice is that the magnification is not too much to add noticeable distortion; so what-you-see remains more or less the same perspective as before.

If you have spent several hundreds/ thousands on your camera equipment already then I recommend this as a very good value improvement.

Do check that it is the right one for your own camera before you buy !
