What if our worldview was as important as technology in curbing climate change ?
Find out how, and much more, in just 2 hours.
The summer of 2018, with its series of heat waves and forest fires, made us aware of climate change and its possible consequences.
Many would like to see our society change course towards a way of life that is sustainable for the planet and place their hopes on technological improvements.
In «Nudge for the Planet », the author makes the case that our perspective of the environment and how we view the world are equally important in curbing climate change. By increasing our environmental awareness and trading our current worldview for an Earth-centered worldview, we fulfill the second half of the equation.
This book guides us in this change by presenting:
- The essential bases (current state of the planet, greenhouse gases, carbon sinks, etc.) to better understand the issues, and a structured method to guide our choices.
- Principles derived from indigenous traditional knowledge and promoting a life in harmony with nature.
- Circular economy and nature’s rights, as well as many initiatives demonstrating that a change of course is well underway.
- Dozens of direct links to references on the web, for further reading, and to the web sites of many organizations that contribute to this change.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Ginette Riopelle is an animal and nature lover. As such, she has always cared deeply about the environment.
Ginette obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 and works in the field of energy efficiency. She is a member of the Knowledge Network of United Nations’ Harmony with Nature program.
A few years ago, she realized that the world’s environmental problems went beyond developing technological improvements to solve them. She believed that the answers to understanding the human-earth connection could be sought by delving into the lives of people who lived very close to nature. Her findings led to the publication of this book.
