For example, in the training Quiz of Exam 1Z0-052 ( from CD-Rom), I found not a pleasant mistake, in the QUESTION number =64.
There are asked to provide steps to change static parameter in the DB.
In my reply, and how much I know it sure:
1) Change the static parameter with option scope = spfile.
2) Stop database.
3) Start database.
However, I have been shown that it is not the right answer, as it turned out in this exercise the right answer:
1) Stop database.
2) Change the static parameter using the option scope = spfile.
3) Startup database.
Can anybody say me from where the author find this steps? And how it works?))
Experienced DBA will agree, that my version is correct.
And the correct answer in this exercise is misleading.
And then I don't really want to be prepared to sit for the OCA/OCP/OCA book OCP Oracle Database 11 g all-in-One Exam Guide with CD-ROM: Exams 1Z0-051, 1Z0-052, 1Z0-053 (Oracle Press), because I found a lot of answers that are misleading.
I bought the Kindle edition of this book and was really disappointed by the product.
The file is not divided into proper chapters, it is therefore not possible to jump from chapter to chapter which makes it really difficult to navigate into the book.
It does not include the bonus content from the CD that is offered with the printed version of the book which means that there are no exam samples included and that we don't have access to the PDF version of the book.
Knowing that Kindles books are DRM protected and do not allow copy&pasting nor printing, it is really hard to do a resume of the important points of the books to study it.
The content has not been adapted to the format, the book is talking about the bonus content while the bonus content is not available (which makes its lack even more frustrating).
Knowing that the Kindle & the print version of the book are sold at more or less the same price, i really think it is a shame.
I used this book as my sole study material, and passed all 3 exams...I didn't "ace" them, but I did pass. I read and re-read it several times, created a test database and worked the exercises, did the end of chapter quizes and did the practice exam. The material presented was complete and the examples and exercises supported the material. Almost every question on the OCP exams was covered in the book. But on the downside, I found a number of errors from little typos to a couple of wrong answers on the practice exams, but those things seem to be common in this type of book. There are also a number of questions that are worded in an odd way that makes it difficult to figure out what is being asked. The actual Oracle exam questions are worded better and are more clear. The test exam had more "trivia" questions than the ocp exam.
You can pass the exams using only this book, but you will need to really work all the examples. I would recommend that you create a test database to work the exercises and then work them again, until you really understand how it works.
As far as the CD. Lets just say you're better off not installing the test program. Some of the answers for the questions are incorrect, and could very easily lead to a misunderstanding if you're not all that familiar with the topics (Which you might not be if you've just read this book). You also might note, as the book is not detailed, any correct answers from the questions are even less detailed. Just enough information that you can look it up in the book, or better yet, allow you to do some research on your own say via google.
Over all it's worth the purchase if your looking for an extra study aide. I would NOT recommend this book if this is the only book your going to study from, it will get you their, but just barely..
Edit: After a few bit more looking, I really can ONLY recommend this book as a secondary study aide. Anything else and you will probably fail the actual exam.
