Présentation de l'éditeur

A Master Artist Shares His Straightforward Approach for Capturing the Essence of Nature

One measure of a painting's success is the emotion it elicits from its viewer; William Silvers' wildlife scenes make your pulse quicken and your breath catch as you witness some of nature's most miraculous everyday moments. The midnight prowl of a wolf. . .a sea lion diving into choppy surf. . .a pride of elephants at a watering hole in the thick, dusty air. In this book, Silvers shares his secrets for capturing the drama, the atmosphere and the very essence of wildlife.
  • Accessible "whole painting" approach using limited materials and multiple acrylic washes
  • 15 mini-demonstrations illustrate key acrylic techniques and how to use them to best effect
  • 15 complete step-by-step demonstrations feature a stunning range of animals, including golden eagles, swans, wolves, foxes, giraffes, deer, elk, black bears, polar bears, alligators and various big cats
Full of rich colors, a gripping sense of life and masterful advice for achieving the same, this book will help intermediate artists and advanced beginners achieve new levels of success and expression.

'Painting Realistic Wildlife...' contains beautiful artistry and very clear, detailed step-by-step techniques that are sure to help both aspiring art students and the accomplished artisan alike. I am currently an art student, and I wish I would have had this book with me when I was taking my traditional painting courses. I have gained more from this book than I have in all of my painting classes combined. This book shows better techniques for fleshing in and blocking in painting compositions, and it helps to achieve photorealistic details with the more difficult elements like fur, textured skin and scales. William Silvers has done a fantastic job sharing his talent and techniques with the world!

Terrific new book. If you like Seerey-Lester's style you will find this a great book with a different technique. Be prepared to use big healthy brushes and be excited about this positive attitude. The artist is clear about his bold approach with his colors and techniques. He takes you from a reference photo to the finished painting. Easy to follow but no substitute for doing your own field sketches. He shows you "how" he paints with acrylics. Beautiful paintings showing the working techniques and readily shared with others.

This is an extremely instructive book, from basic work materials and tools, to completed paintings. Techniques in the handling of the brush [especially the 1.5 inch all-round workhorse] mixtures of paint and application of glazes are very informative. I especially liked the discussion about composition and how to attempt premier art instead of just good art. The section that delved into the aspects of painting that goes beyond technique was what caught my attention. This is a tricky area that deserves much discussion because most people can follow a recipe, few can create masterpieces. Art is Art because it is elusive and not everyone can produce it - certainly not by formulaic step-by-step execution. Hurrah to Mr. Silvers for producing his Fine Art works and thanks for allowing us a peek into his tent.

I am a silk painter and it is very hard to find books with exquisite reference and how to draw animals. I love this book because although you cannot copy the design, it gives you so many ideas to be creative.
Another plus book for artists.Strongly recommended.
