Descriptions du produit

Special Limited Deluxe Collector s Edition / Fully remastered sound shaped from 24 BIT digital technology / Features Bob Welch (Fleetwood Mac), Glenn Cornick (Jethro Tull) & Thom Mooney (The Nazz) / 16 page full colour booklet 3,000 word essay, enhanced artwork, memorabilia, rare photos and new interviews. IT S CONSTANTLY baffling how many great records get lost in the shuffle. Dig a little deeper into the void and the amount of utterly spellbinding albums, which barely registered a blip on the radar when released, can now be reassessed as works of staggering accomplishment. The debut Paris album is one such creation, a record that continues to defy all attempts to dismiss it as little more than a passing curio. In many respects Paris, the band, can be labelled as a mini supergroup. Formed by ex Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch, with former Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick and drummer Thom Mooney from the Nazz, they were signed to Capitol records and put into the studio with seasoned producer/engineer Jimmy Robinson (Detective). The recording took nearly a year and the results were spectacular. Unashamedly reminiscent of Led Zeppelin, the band s style focussed on powerful, crunchy riffs, laced with a funky undertow. But it wasn t all about the music as Bob Welch s bizarre, some might say, spooky lyrics provided yet another murky depth to the package. With references to both religion and metaphysical inspiration, the songs make for captivating listening; check out Black Book , Beautiful Youth , Rock Of Ages and album centre piece Narrow Gate (La Porte Etroite) for some of the best examples of mid-seventies hard rock crafted by any band this side of Led Zeppelin.

HASH(0x8884fe1c) étoiles sur 5 DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! 1 septembre 2012
Par Welchfanz - Publié sur
Format: CD
Having been a Bob Welch fan since his Fleetwood Mac days, I was very excited to see Rock Candy re-release this very unique and interesting recording of Bob's attempt to "rock out." I have owned the vinyl since it's release in 1976 and have always wanted to hear a CD remaster that was given the loving attention to detail it deserves. After purchasing this disk, it is apparent the creators have sorely let us down. It is dull, muffled sounding and just generally doesn't have anything going for it sound quality wise (although the liner notes are pretty cool)! If you want a good remaster, spend the money for the Zoom Club remastered reissue from 2000 and you will be glad you did. Of course, if you can get new vinyl you would love it as well. Bob would be disappointed with this one and hopefully it wasn't rushed to market just because of the desire to cash in on Bob's untimely passing. RIP Bob, I wish Rock Candy had not let us down on this one, but they certainly did!

HASH(0x8884fc60) étoiles sur 5 Classic Album...Terrible Mastering Job 14 décembre 2012

What a disappointment this Rock Candy version of this mega classic Paris album was. I already owned the Zoom Club version of this that came out years ago and Zoom Club is not known for their mastering jobs like Rock Candy is so I shelled out more money for what I thought would be a far superior version on the highly rated Rock Candy label. To my total dismay the Rock Candy version sounded terrible...this one is surely mastered from a vinyl source it has all the tell tale signs and when put side by side with the Zoom Club version I'd rather listen to the ZC version which seems brighter and has less distortion. Glad I didn't do what I usually do and sell the Zoom Club version. It really sucks when you have a label as highy rated and respected as Rock Candy and they do a terrible job and on one of my favorite classic's from the 70's...what a waste of money...if you own the other version don't bother with this one it's no improvement.

Again like the latest Angel remasters from Rock Candy, the sound is horrible! Get it only for the booklet, but stay with the Zoom Club release for great sound. What happened Rock Candy? You use to do these things justice.

HASH(0x88851714) étoiles sur 5 Bob Welch's musically outstanding hard rock album - nothing like Fleetwood Mac 14 juillet 2014
Par Timothy P. Scott - Publié sur
Format: CD
Other reviewers have provided really good information about the weird mastering and quality issues having to do with the CD versions of this album. My note here will only deal with my opinion of its musical merit.
I enjoyed several songs of Fleetwood Mac version 1, but it was not my favorite band in the world, as my taste leaned more towards hard and progressive rock. When I first heard this record I was stunned. Musically, lyrically and production-wise this is in my top 50 favorites of all time. It even veers into progressive territory with The Narrow Gate.
Welch's vocals, guitar and songwriting and muscular, wild and powerful. I have listened to this set for nearly 40 years now and still enjoy almost all of the songs. Cornick and Yorke's rhythm section supports his voice and guitar well.
The second album of Paris was definitely a disappointment and I only keep it for nostalgia. I got French Kiss and found nothing musicall interesting in it to me and took it to the used record store. To each his own.
I don't agree at all with the Allmusic reviewer's rating of 2/5 stars, but I respect everyone's opinion. (I guess Allmusic users agree with me since the average of 4 ratings is 5/5.) Definitely try to get a good pressing or CD version of this and I can't imagine you being disappointed.
(And finally, R.I.P. Bob Welch, it is very sad he was in such pain that he felt he needed to end his own life.)

If you like Led Zep meets EARLY 70S Fleetwood Mac your gonna love this. Cant fathom why this was overlooked back in the day. Talk about great guitar riffs and out of this world song writing. This was Bob welch at his best. Its not like his solo pop stuff, you've got to check it out. What a power trio Bob welch /Fleetwood Mac/ Glenn Cornick / Jethro Tull/ Thom Mooney /The Nazz. I highly recommend this classic. And dont get me wrong I'm not knocking Bob Welch's solo work this is just different.
