Présentation de l'éditeur

Will Montgomery is a successful professional football player and seemingly has it all. He’s not used to being told no, and certainly doesn’t take no for an answer. So when he turns his charms on his sister’s sexy rocker-chick friend Meg, he’s not only turned down, but met with open hostility, piquing his curiosity and libido. He’s determined to show her that he’s not the arrogant jock she thinks he is, and to get her into his bed. Megan McBride is not impressed with Will Montgomery, his fat contract, fancy car, or his arrogant public persona. She doesn’t have time for a relationship, and if she’s learned anything in life, it’s that loving means losing, so she guards her heart ferociously. But she can’t deny the overwhelming attraction to the sexy, tattooed athlete, and when Will starts breaking down her defenses and grabs hold of her heart, will she be able to admit her feelings for him, or will her troubled past cause her to lose the first man she’s ever truly loved? Play With Me is the third book in the With Me In Seattle Series.

Suite dans la série " With me in Seattle"
Encore une très belle histoire pleine de découverte sur les relations de couple.
J'adore les histoires compliquées qui finissent bien.
Les valeurs familiales et d'amitiés sont mis en exergue.

Since I loved the hot and steamy book My Nights With Kate, amazon suggested I might like Play With Me by Kristen Proby. Kudos Amazon, you nailed it! I had been needing a break from all the good girl meets bad boy stuff and these two have been a very refreshing change of pace. I really enjoyed Kristen's writing style as it made for a fun and easy read. Megan was a little bit of a potty mouth which I liked, so no over-the-top flowery dialogue here!

In the beginning Megan was a little overly mean to Will, because he hadn't responded to her request to visit sick kids at the hospital where she was a nurse. After that whole situation gets ironed out, they go through a "teasing phase" which was fun to read about. The only thing that concerned me a little was that Will seemed a little overly controlling and jealous. I think this was just the author's way of keeping us guessing a little through out the story, because I kept wondering if he was going to snap at some point.

Just like with Jack and Kate, the sex scenes between Will and Megan were fun and amazing. They really seemed like a couple who were falling head over heels for each other and having a great time in and out of bed. Their banter, adventures and burgeoning love for each other kept me interested the whole way through. It was a fun and captivating read.

Congratulations Kristen on a great book!

I stumbled across this series a couple of months ago and even though the previous installments left me underwhelmed, I decided to try give this latest installment a go. What a disappointment... it's basically just same characteristics as the previous installments for both the hero and heroine. So much so, that I really can't keep the characters straight in my mind. The men are all macho & controlling, the women are spunky with attitude. They all say the same things to each other in the same slightly immature manner, have the same desires and tastes, etc.

If it were not for the (many & sometimes repetitive) sex scenes, I would think this series is more suitable for a young adult fantasy novel. Every main character in her series is sexy gorgeous and mega rich. The constant references to pop culture are sure to date this series, though it was nice that there was not as much designer name dropping in this story as the previous two full length novels.

And speaking of pop references, Train is not from Seattle. They are from San Francisco. "Marry Me" has famously been sung as a duet with Pat & Martina McBride, so trying to convince readers and especially fans of Train or Martina, that the characters just came up with a duet years prior to this scene (before the album release, I guess) irritated me. Just because the heroine shares the same last name as Martina does not make her as talented.

I had hoped for more character development for both parties, but I think the author limits herself in this aspect because it's written in first person. At least with this story, we sometimes get to see the situation from Will's POV. I believe the two previous stories only offered a glimpse from the hero's POV in the epilogue. The development is mostly on Meg's part (because she found a perfect guy, you know), though the pivotal scene that I had anticipated happened so late in the story. The authors writing style flows easily and I was able to finish this novel in a matter of a few hours, but it didn't make me want to go back and re-read it. All in all, there was potential for a lot more with these characters but the story left me feeling like I was let down.

I really liked the love story, and there were some funny points in the book as well as...well, let's be honest, kind of boring, repetitive points. But I want to discuss something that I haven't seen any other reviewer touch. It took me nearly the first quarter of the book to warm up to Will and consider him a proper hero for our heroine. When the two first got together I wanted her to dump his controlling, domineering (read: pre-abusive) butt.

**Spoiler Alert**
Installing a security system on her house when you've known each other two days? "But his point was proven when a crazy stalker groupie made a threat," you'll say. It's still controlling and manipulative when he kept giving her crap for not remembering to use the alarm. The worst point for me, however, was when he got angry and pouty and passive aggressive (read: manipulative) when she only mentioned Leo's name. Seriously? A) you've known her only a few days. B) You have no idea who this other guy is or whether or not he's even a challenge. C) Jealousy is okay in some context, I guess, but acting jealous when you have no right and emotionally punishing a woman you supposedly like while speeding your car unsafely down the highway because you're pissed is NOT okay. The entire time I was reading these early chapters in their relationship I was thinking the book would be ending in a VERY different way, i.e. he would go full-blown emotional, verbal, and physical abusive, she'd dump his butt and get with a nice, hot, sympathetic former-like-a-brother Leo.

WIll eventually won me over, so, in the end, it turned out okay. But, Ladies, if you're in the early stages of a relationship with a man who acts like that right off the bat, please have the confidence in your fabulous self to recognize the red flags. This is fiction, so I won't harp too much, but it bothered me because I knew so many women were reading these passages and thinking it was romantic or something. Our WIll was romantic in many points of the book...but not at these points, Okay? Kay.
**steps off soap box**

Other than that I liked the book and will be going back for the first and second ones in the series (this was my first). As a football fan, I kept getting bumped out of the story by the mistakes in the NFL player's life and schedule minutiae, but I'm probably the only one. Frankly, it's becoming a relief to stumble upon romance books that are grammatically correct, so character flaws (see above) and errors in details are easy to get through in simply enjoying a sweet love story.

If you've read the other with me in Seattle books, then you've essentially read this one. I like how the author writes but honestly her style is total cookie cutter...I couldn't totally believe it, so I made a point of re-reading Come Away With Me, which i read months ago, after reading Fight With Me and Play With Me in the same weekend. Sure enough, cookie cutter story, slightly different personalities pasted on our latest H/h. The author is literally hitting certain mile-markers, and our characters are literally saying the same words.

Instant attraction, check.
Tough male character who is very dominant, check.
Spunky female, check.
Rich folks who live perfect, money is no object, lives, check (in play with me our h is a nurse, not so rich/glamorous, but Will makes up for it. And in Fight with me Jules is an investment banker who's glad to live rent free in Natalie's house (from come away with me), but she's still rocking designer brands).
"I love your body" quoted and acted out endlessly, check.
Spanking (not predominant to the story), check.
Abundant use of the terms "babe," "baby," "beautiful," and sentiments similar too "oh, he's soooo sweet," "oh, im so lucky," "oh, all these sexy men," "oh, this fantastic gene pool," etc., check.
Dominant male getting desperate for spunky female, check.
Same male falls in love overwhelmingly fast and immediately starts splurging, check.
Dominant male begging spunky female not to cry, because he just can't stand it, check.
Requisite relationship bulls***, misunderstandings, jealousy...check.
Happy ever after, check.
The end.

I like that were seeing the characters in each book, and that they're all friends, I really do..,just wish they were in fact their own characters. Any of these characters could be intermixed and we'd in essence get the same story...

If I read this story without knowing anything about the authors other works this would easily be a 4.5 star, but as it is, there's too much of the same across the board, and so far Jules and Nates story is my favorite (fight with me)

I really tried to like this book, I did, but couldn't really get into it. I read it entirely, only because I purchased it, but I wasn't blown away. I'm thinking there's far too many 5-star trigger-happy people out there, who rated this book. The story was good but DIDN'T go anywhere. Yes, Meg had issues with her mom growing up, but the parts where her mother came in just seemed to be tossed in there at random. It really didn't give anything to the plot...but there wasn't even really a plot.

Also, what's with the gross overuse of the "F" word?? Like in EVERY sentence practically. Seriously? I mean, wayyyy overkill! The sex scenes were good...but they were almost exactly the same as the one before...and the one before that...and before that. I guess I was just wishing the story had more keep-you-on-the-edge-of-you-seat kind of intrigue with all the passion in between. This one didn't do it for me. At all. I won't be reading the rest of this SERIES, unfortunately. Sorry.
