Présentation de l'éditeur

Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in the renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble,/i>. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to side in the club’s best interest if he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat or is one of them bound to get burned?

I have read almost all the novels wiritten by K Bromberg and I am still fan of the style of the author who has no equal to present us manly heroes with a macho side but who offer us a new image of them As soon as we learn to know them. I love sports romances because I know that I will spend a very good time reading with heroes who will make us live beautiful adventures, with a glimpse of romance, sensuality and intriguing twists.

Easton Wylder has everything from the sporty star self confident with his charm and his sex appeal. From the first meeting with Scout, the tone is given as he thikks she is a person who has come to spend a good time with him and not for the one who will put him back on track With Easton, we are sure to have a good time because he has this side very arrogant and charming at the same time and he knows how to put the humor in his words. So yes, at first glance you get the impression that it is a macho man who does not accept that a woman intervenes in a world full of testosterone but we will have to go beyond the appearances to see him as he really is. Indeed, Easton has two facets and the first is the one he has learned to master for years. On the baseball field his reputation is no longer to be made and as he likes to say so naughtyly he knows how to use his stick. Yet a game and a confrontation with Santiago, another baseball player, left great traces and important after-effects. The human being behind the player has given way to a war machine that must be quickly repaired and returned to the field as soon as possible. As a result, he can be proud and haughty, but Easton was bathed in baseball from a very young age as he was the son of a baseball star.

Easton is a superstar. He’s arrogant, confident, gorgeous… but he’s so much more! He has the biggest heart, he’s humble, generous and protective. He’s also scared for is future in his baseball team.
Scout is honest, hard-working, careful and she live with a difficult past (and present). But no matter the walls she builds around her, Easton has decided to destroy all of them.
Their love story is a real one, with challenge, secrets, compassion, humour and fun. They will help each other for better and worse.
I had a lot of fun to follow them, and I’m waiting impatiently for the rest of their story!

K. Bromberg has given us another fabulous read with The Player. Easton Wylder is a professional baseball player and on top of his game, until an injury by another player sidelines him. Doc Dalton has the reputation of being the best in the business getting athletes back in the lineup. His daughter Scout Dalton has worked with her dad for years rehabbing athletes. Her father assigns her the task of rehabbing Easton and to prove that she is not only up for the challenge, but quite capable and good at what she does. Her success will determine whether or not her father gets a contract with the Aces, the one team he has never worked for. Will Scout be able to rehab Easton on schedule or is her father always going to be chasing that one team to complete his career.

This was an great story. A story that will have you laughing at the wittiness and banter, and falling in love with Easton Wylder and Scout Dalton, while cheering them on to make the deadline. It's a story of trust, love, friendship, fighting for what you want, and not compromising who you are to reach your goals.

The Player is a must read. I enjoyed this book so much, I have already read it a second time and will most definitely read it again.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book-and bought it as soon as it was available!

Holy wow. This book was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. My heart is STILL in my throat after reading this. The writing paints such a vivid picture that you feel that you're right there with Easton and Scout-in the locker room, on the diamond-wherever they are, you are. This was a journey I didn't want to end-and certainly didn't want to end with a cliffhanger.

I fell hard for Easton. I adored how REAL he was. I could feel his struggles-from living in the shadow of his father, to taking care of his mom, to finding out who HE really was. I wanted to hold sit with him and just be, just process who he was and what made him tick. Add in the fact that he had some serious swoon factor? Yep, I was toast. I'll gladly add Easton to my list of Book Boyfriends...and he may even qualify as a Book Husband.

Scout was a great match for Easton. Their situations are similar in a sense, so they have something common to bond with even without their shared love of the game. I really, really wanted to give her a hug. She was pulled in many different directions and tried so hard to stay true to what she thought was the best thing for everyone. She had such a sweet heart under a tough exterior-getting to know her was a treat.

These two together were phenomenal. The chemistry is there-even when they both tried to avoid it. You can't help but root for the two of them, to hope that somehow things will work when it seems it would really be for the best if they stayed apart. The sexy times were AMAZING, but the quiet, getting to know you times were just as amazing to me.

The plot and pacing of this book was spot on. The author had me intrigued and invested in what was happening with these characters from the start. The secondary characters added a whole other layer to this already complex book-and they were fantastic in their own way.

Now, this book does have a cliffhanger ending. Normally I hate that. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers, of having to wait to see what comes next. This cliffhanger made sense-and also had me on the edge of my seat. I'm still speculating what may or may not happen next...and I probably will be until the end of June when the second book comes out. I highly recommend this book.

I didn't really care for Scout. Something about her just grated on me.
Easton, I liked after his jerk performance at first meeting Scout. He was a good guy and wasn't portrayed as a man ho.
Some chapters were too long, and boring.
The ending was crazy. And a cliffhanger which I didn't like.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 K. Bromberg’s The Player is in a League of Its Own 21 avril 2017

I’m not a huge fan of sports romances — I find them pretty predicable. In the case of a baseball romance, the usual plot involves a sassy jock, and an equally sassy baseball Annie, some locker room smack, and ultimately revolves around a pennant chase. That is not the case with The Player. Author K. Bromberg takes that trope and elevates it to the level of pure poetry.

Scout Dalton lives and breathes baseball. Daughter of the legendary physical therapist, Doc Dalton, the lovely Scout follows in her father’s footsteps, rehabbing injured players. Having learned from the best, Scout has gained a sterling reputation of her own in the league. When Doc can’t make the trip to Texas to aid the Austin Ace’s franchise player, Easton Wylder, regain his million dollar arm, Doc sends Scout in his place.

Like Scout Dalton, Easton Wylder was born into the world of baseball. Son of legendary Cal ”Iron Man” Wylder, the gifted and hunky Easton has become a mega star in the major leagues. Ever conscious of the long shadow cast by his father’s success in the game, Easton wants nothing more than to heal his arm and return to his team.

While Easton plays baseball, he’s not a playa. The same could be said of Scout — passionate about the game, Scout is no cleat chaser. Both Easton and Scout are people of goodwill, with noble hearts that have been forged by tragedy and loss. That they are instantly attracted to one another is no surprise, but what is beautiful about this story is how they bond with each other over their love of the game, love of their family, and, ultimately, the love they have for one another.

I could rave about K. Bromberg’s writing style, but allow it to speak for itself — here’s Scout, reflecting about a baseball field:

“And right now I’d challenge anyone who told me this diamond doesn’t sparkle as brightly as the rock you wear on your finger. With empty seats or with a sold-out crowd, this outshines jewelry any day.”

Kindle Loc. 1286 of 3982
And here’s a peek into Easton’s heart:

“Who needs grass that’s greener on the other side when you’re a huge fan of how green the grass is beneath your feet?”

Kindle Loc. 3858 of 3982

Bromberg’s characters have depth — they’re so well crafted. Even the secondary characters in this story are clearly written. The plot is solid and stunning — no filler, no wasted words. The reader experiences both the heart-lifting as well as the gut-punching events right along with the characters (no small feat in this reader’s book). My only complaint is that it ends on a cliffhanger — a HUGE cliffhanger. Take it as a testament as to how much I loved The Player that, as soon as I finished it, I preordered the concluding story, The Catch.

K. Bromberg’s The Player is so much more than a sexy baseball romance — it’s an outstanding tale of adult people dealing with the curve balls thrown at them by life.

Four and one-half stars.

The Player (The Player #1) by K Bromberg
4.5 stars!!!

“Who needs grass that’s greener on the other side when you’re a huge fan of how green the grass is beneath your feet?”

The Player is the huge reminder of why and how I fell in love with this authors writing in the first instance. This book took me back to my first read of Driven where I had that instant chemistry with this authors words, wordy words, sentences filled with love, longing and romance. While the premise of this book has been done before, K Bromberg made this her own with her signature writing, intense character connection and emotion by the bucket load, I loved it.

“The push and the pull. The give and the take. The need and the greed. The wish and the want. The climb and the release…”

Easton Wylder is an extremely talented and drop dead gorgeous baseball player. He is out on disability leave with a shoulder injury and now his surgery has healed he is ready for some intense therapy to bring back the movement and get him out on the pitch once again. Easton was an adorable character, yes, he had that signature sportsman cockiness about him, that bravado that seems to come hand in hand with those tight pants and cleats but underneath that was a man struggling to keep his parents happy and live up to his dad’s iconic reputation.

“Because there are women who are good for a quick f***. There are women you would f***, but are better in the friend zone. And then there are women like Scout. They make you wonder, make you crave them, and drive you absolutely effing crazy because you want them when you shouldn’t. They’re an enigma. Confusing, alluring, tempting, and effing perfection.”

Scout Dalton is also plagued by having to live up to her dad’s reputation, a physiotherapist at the top of his field and highly revered to boot. It is now up to his daughter to land the one elusive contract that has evaded him and Scout is definitely feeling the pressure. Scout was a professional who knew her stuff but as ever, a woman in a man’s world always has its drawbacks and being taken seriously is always at the top. Scout held herself well and could take and fire back barbs with the best of them and it is this side of her personality that really shone through the pages.

Scout is incredibly closed off and her heart is extremely guarded, everyone she has loved has left and she is adamant not to put her heart in the line of fire again. Easton is not the baseball norm, he wasn’t a man that chased after any woman with a pulse, he wasn’t a saint either, but he knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go all out to get it and it is this slow burn and the thrill of the chase that is a signature K Bromberg read.

“He tried to slay dragons for me.”

The chemistry was palpable, the dialogue and banter was on point, the character connection and emotion was prevalent in spades and that is what made this book a winner for me. K Bromberg has never failed to deliver a hero worth pining for, she has that knack of cementing her characters into your hearts and The Player was no different.

“God, yes.”
“I don’t think God has anything to do with this, but feel free to call his name… Cause we’re about to get biblical.”

This is the first book in a duet and while Scout and Easton’s story is far from over I cannot wait to see what happens to these two going forward. Even though it seems that the world is against them, I am hoping that their connection to one another is more than sufficient to keep the world at bay. The Catch is scheduled for release on June 29th and I for one cannot wait!!
