Présentation de l'éditeur

New York Times bestselling author Rodd Wagner and Gallup Vice Chairman Gale Muller explore the crucial dimensions of a successful partnership and the stories of famous pairs who epitomize those elements.

Many of the greatest accomplishments can only be reached by two people working together. Tenzing and Hillary were first to scale Everest. Malone and Stockton were the key to each other’s success on the basketball court. Eisner was never as effective at Disney without Wells.

But while some partnerships reach great heights, others fall short. Why do some people click while others clash? What do great pairs have in common? And what can you learn from the most powerful partnerships to strengthen collaboration in your work and life?

Based on Gallup’s groundbreaking research, Power of 2 details the eight elements that prepare partners to succeed in their most important endeavors. Rodd Wagner, coauthor of the bestseller 12: The Elements of Great Managing, and Gallup World Poll leader Dr. Gale Muller share the science and the secrets of successful collaboration.

Mixing key insights about human nature, field-tested discoveries, and the inspiring stories of partnerships that reached the pinnacle, Power of 2 will change the way you think about working with someone else.

Power of 2 is a book that takes research from the Gallup organization and develops a theoretical model of eight factors that make up effective/ineffective partnerships: complimentary strengths, a common mission, fairness, trust, acceptance, forgiveness, communicating, and unselfishness. The model is applicable to both work and personal relationships.
The authors present a blended approach to the content that makes it interesting and useful. They provide key statements for each factor along with examples that support their model. In addition, they provide specific strategies the reader may utilize in improving his/her own approach to developing and maintaining effective partnerships.
It's one of those books that I call a re-read---you read it once and can't help but re-read at a later date to enjoy nuances and further learning on the ideas presented. Power of 2 is an interesting book that has valuable lessons for immediate application!
5.0 étoiles sur 5 A powerful message for both business and personal life 22 septembre 2011

This book illustrates how great partnerships can achieve much more than either person ever could alone, and shows you exactly how to create these strong partnerships. The lessons are immediately applicable to business (and not just with co-workers, even with your boss or those you supervise!), but they can be applied to any aspect of life. Great partnerships will leave you much more fulfilled in everything you do.

The book covers eight important facets that a partnership must have to be successful:
1. Complementary strengths
2. A common mission
3. Fairness
4. Trust
5. Acceptance
6. Forgiveness
7. Communicating
8. Unselfishness

I highly recommend this book, no matter what industry you work in. You'll be amazed by some of the stories the authors share about some of history's best partnerships, and you'll want to apply these principles to your own life as soon as you read them! Now that I recognize "The Power of 2" and how much more I can accomplish when I'm not working by myself (believe me, a hard lesson), I'm constantly seeking out partnerships in my day-to-day life. I've been developing a new partnership within my business, and bought this book for my new business partner so we can base the work we do on these principles. Even if you've already had good experiences with partnerships, this book can teach you how to take things to the next level and become even more effective. It's a very quick read, but you'll undoubtedly find yourself coming back to this book in the future as you develop partnerships in all areas of your life.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Power of 2 important for many 25 octobre 2009

We all deal with key partnerships in our work, our personal relationships, and in important other areas of our lives (passions, hobbies, volunteering and more). In The Power of 2, the authors give a balanced, scientific view of the elements that are key to a lasting, long term relationship with a partner. If you have experienced the "flow" of a good partnership, or been locked into a poor one, you will recognize the importance of this book. The book is a great one for experienced "old hands" or those just starting out in the world of partnering.

Strong recommendation for this book - if everyone maximized their partnerships, the world would take a big leap forward.

I believe Rodd Wagner and Gale Muller have collaborated on an excellent presentation of what it really takes to establish and sustain a personal or professional partnership.
This book spells out the qualities of successful partnering in a smooth blend of complex concepts, delivered in an unpretentious, accessible manner - supported by significant research and interesting stories.
Upon reading it I immediately purchased multiple copies to share with my executive coaching clients.
This is clearly a book that can and will make a real difference in the lives of those who take it to heart.
