Présentation de l'éditeur

Practical SharePoint 2010 Information Architecture is a guide and tool set for planning and documenting the scope, navigational taxonomy, document taxonomy, metadata, page layouts and workflows for a successful SharePoint 2010 project. If you have been tasked with delivering an intranet for collaboration, document management or as a corporate portal, your only chance for success is to get all of these elements right, and then to make sure that you and your stakeholders are all on the same page. The author has done a great job distilling the topic down to easy to understand chapters. SharePoint is a very complex platform and Ruven obviously has a wealth of real-world experience. I really enjoy the business problem perspective that the author brings to the book. A very pragmatic approach to very complex projects!! A must read for anyone undertaking a SharePoint project!!

The biggest failure for any SharePoint implementation is the failure in Information Architecture. Ruven nails it on the head with this book. It is an absolute must read for anyone trying to implement SharePoint! I've been preaching about IA for years now and this book has justified everything that I keep saying. Thank you Ruven for writing this.

Par Björn Stenberg - Publié sur Amazon.com

I've been consulting around SharePoint for the last 5 years and this is the single most valuable book I've come across; and, I've read plenty. It centers around the hardest part of a successful SharePoint project: namely that we loftily call Information Architecture. I like to explain it as mapping how you and your organization think and work to the functionality of the toolbox called SharePoint. Besides describing the problems at hand the author gives us lots of practical examples of how he has worked. I love the hands-on approach to these soft problems. I have been recommending this book to colleagues and customers for a while and will continue to do so.

HASH(0x8cdef840) étoiles sur 5 A Must Read for any SP BA or PM 11 avril 2013

I've worked several years now with the various products of SharePoint, but it wasn't until I began to understand the intricacies of information architecture that my products went from basic sites to full features online solutions. I was new to my role as PM/BA, and had already developed some of the skills addressed in this book when I purchased it. For example, I've been an avid mind mapper for years, but Mr. Gotz's insights have taken my game to a whole new level. The importance of BA in planning stages is so often overlooked, and this book gives you an excellent foundation to reverse that trend. I also found the book very beneficial as a project manager, the anecdotes provided sounded very similar and the methods for dealing with them have been stored away in my bag of tricks. Reading this book as definitely made me more effective at my job. I look forward to reading more from this insightful, and funny, author.

This book stands out in its approach, which is largely aimed at helping SharePoint professionals orient their thinking toward the bigger picture in information architecture and away from common pitfalls. The author's writing is crisp and relevant, the content is excellent even if you've been at this for some time. And if you have been at this for some time, you'll immediately recognize the value here, given just how many people in the SharePoint world inevitably hit the same walls before coming to the author's points well on their own, if ever. Many bail out, others just muck up systems.

Worth the money and read.
