Praise for The Blood Magic Saga...

"Equal parts thrilling and romantic, HeartsBlood swept me off my feet. How the author weaves a story of science and magic so seamlessly still amazes me. And did I mention the
sexual tension between the dark stranger and the heroine struggling to accept the fact her reality has been shattered? Oh yeah, this is a great one folks!"

"Um... I just finished HeartsBlood less than two minutes ago, and I can honestly say that it has been a very long time since a book has affected me as deeply as HeartsBlood did. Not very often does a book come along that makes you feel so intensely that the tears actually stream down your face. This one did. In fact, I'm still tearing as I write this... THIS BOOK IS PHENOMENAL"

2.0 étoiles sur 5 A tragic collection of continuity errors and editing problems 5 octobre 2016

McCray says in the afterword that this collection has "been put through a gazillion rounds of edits." I can't see how that can possibly be true. There was a section in the middle of DeadBlood that was a word salad of sentence fragments and ungrammatical nonsense. Sections looked like they had been printed and then scanned back in using OCR -- how else to explain such bizarre typographical errors as "aruther" instead of "another"? LiveBlood seemed to mix multiple manuscript versions. At one point, the main characters split into two groups, one travelling by Jeep and the other by plane. In one chapter, Alex is on the plane. In the next chapter, he's in the Jeep. What?

I almost gave up on the collection in the first couple of chapters. They take place in an emergency room, but bore no similarity to reality of American ERs. I wish I had given up, but I stuck with it. It became like watching a train wreck. So much just doesn't make sense. At one point, the main character, Salista, is at a castle attending a royal banquet wearing a medieval-style formal gown. She's still wearing that gown when she's transported through time to San Francisco. So she's wandering around SF, doing things like eating in a restaurant, and no one comments on the fact that she's dressed in finery that would put a prom queen to shame?

I'm giving the collection two stars rather than one, because it did have some interesting ideas and, in a perverse way, it kept me reading to the end. Perhaps with some heavy cleanup editing it could be an excellent collection. But as it is, I certainly can't recommend it.

I enjoyed this collection of books so much... I couldn't put it down. This has been one of the best collection that I have read so far. The books are fascinating, different, sex scenes, and they hit the heart. With out giving to much away, I absolutely loved them and wish there was one more, the last page left me with many questions, so I do not know if there is another book.... I read all of 7 books in this collection totally AMAZING!!!!
Definitely would recommend.....
A must read if you enjoy True Blood, or any paranormal romance!!!! I wish it continued....

I'm not generally a reader of the paranormal genre, however, this series has really changed my mind. As always, McCray's characters are very well developed, and the plot draws you right in. There is also a lot of action and plenty of suspense. It's definitely a page turner and a series you won't want to put down until you've completed it and, in my case at least, written your review at 3:00 in the morning! Great stuff, and five stars all the way!!!

I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting....for the next installment after HeartsBlood (which I LOVED). I'd read--over a year ago--that DeadBlood would be available in the "fall of 2012." I joined a discussion group here on Amazon, only to find out a couple of days ago, that the author has published, "Praxis: The Blood Magic Saga Collection" containing Blood Oath (a new prequel to HeartsBlood), HeartsBlood, Blood Ties (an exclusive bridge short story between HeartsBlood and DeadBlood), and DeadBlood. What the heck??? I never knew this collection was in the works. When I read HeartsBlood, the afterword just talked about DeadBlood. According to the author's note at the end of Praxis, Amazon should contact me when the rest of the collection is ready. I've also read that DeadBlood comes out in Sept. of 2013, then LiveBlood (final book of the Blood Magic Trilogy) and Blood Letting SHOULD be out sometime around May 2014. Phew! How confusing is that?

I guess I gave up on this author, thinking she was never going to write the rest of Sal and Tyr's story, but I'm grateful I found out about Praxis: The Blood Magic Saga Collection. The prequel to HeartsBlood answered some questions for me, and the Blood Ties short story appears to be a good set up for the next leg of the story. This was well worth the purchase. I even read HeartsBlood again, since it'd been so long since I read it the first time.

I went to Carolyn McCray's web page and signed up for her newsletter, which I thought I had done before. Maybe this time I'll receive notice when the latest and greatest is available for purchase. There needs to be a better way of marketing this collection because it's a wonderful story. I cannot wait for September!

UPDATE: Praxis now has DeadBlood loaded and I read it over the Labor Day weekend. Since I don't want to ruin the story, all I'll say is, some questions were answered....and others were raised. I read to be entertained, and I was thoroughly entertained by DeadBlood. There needed to be some editing done, but it wasn't bad--I wish I'd thought to write down what I found to send to the author. I'm looking forward to May when LiveBlood and Blood Letting is released. I've never read "urban fantasy" before, but I've enjoyed this series.

I really liked Heartsblood. A lot. Lots of weird editing errors aside the concept was intriguing and the characters interesting enough to want to read more. Deadblood was also enjoyable as were the connecting stories. Today I finally had the chance to read Liveblood, billed as a conclusion to the series and the short Blood Letting, billed as a "wrap up". These last two were so disappointing! I have been waiting for many months now to read them and I feel let down. The ending of Liveblood was so.....predictable and boring. Blood Letting was NOT a wrap up story. It was a major cliff hanger for a "possible" series continuation. I guess I really have no one to blame but myself as I read another series written by this author and it had the same silly ending. So much promise unrealized. The first book actually moved me to tears at times. But hey, babies and weddings make everything okay, right? ugh.
