In fact this is more about your health than being a size 0. All of the weight loss success stories I have read, have a common denominator, "I've tried every diet, and nothing worked until I tried this." Don't give up! Try this!
I followed this plan religiously for one month, ending recently. I did the liver cleanse for two weeks which was AWFUL. I was shaky and sick and weak and got a cold 2 days in which I still have. Besides battling a cold for over a month thanks to this diet I also had to deal with crippling overwhelming fatigue which I now know was triggered by following such an insanely low carb diet (I know veggies are carbs but Adrenal Fatigue sufferers have to add specific grains which are not allowed on any of the diets in this book). Due to my crashing energy levels and misery I added in protein during the 2 week liver diet as this book suggested but I was still miserable. I did lose 6 pounds during the first 2 weeks or so which was fantastic since I haven't lost weight in years, and it was enough to keep me motivated to move on to the Adrenal diet plan once the two weeks were up despite the awful cold I couldn't shake and feeling like I wanted to cry every time I saw pancakes or a cocktail. Plus I suspect now that that 6 pound weight loss wasn't due to any magic in this diet but just cutting out sugar and carbs completely. Any crash diet can tigger a 6 pound weight loss in one month. I also ordered the $40 Cruciferous supplement and $160 Adrenal Fatigue kit sold on his site and Amazon to assist in my recovery, though by this time I was reading books on actual Adrenal Fatigue and starting to wonder if that was more what I was suffering from.
I even spoke with one of Dr. Berg's support staff during this period since you can submit questions via his website. I thought I might, at most, get an email back but I got a call back. The personalized service was nice but ultimately clearly a sales call. The person was surprised that I was still run down and suffering from major cravings, she tried to suggest the Cruciferous Supplement and Adrenal Body Type kit but I already had both. She then suggested that I focus on inches lost, not pounds. I haven't lost one inch anywhere since then. Not one. She praised how well I had been sticking to the diet, including the 7-9 cups of raw veggies a day, and said that even she couldn't do that. I wondered if she was losing any weight but didn't get a chance to ask.
The Adrenal Body Type kit, consisting of liquid trace minerals to be taken daily with water, two supplements to be taken with meals and one supplement to be taken at night has done virtually NOTHING. It has not improved my cold or cravings or fatigue. I do not feel better. It has not made the two weeks in on the adrenal diet any easier. I had hoped I would at least perk up a little but last week, after nearly a month of shaking and suffering and feeling awful, I finally broke down and ate some quinoa. Bam. Felt much, much better. Mind you, still not back to how I felt BEFORE this magical diet that is supposed to heal me and make me healthy and happy, but better. That is when I figured out that I must truly have genuine Adrenal Fatigue and cannot follow this diet.
The Adrenal Body Type Kit I paid over $160 for was clearly a waste. The night supplement seems to help with sleep but then again I am so worn out from this never ending cold and diet that it may be doing nothing. I'm glad I bought the supplements if only for the knowledge that I tried them but they didn't work for me. This entire diet won't work for me, I have to follow a plan for genuine Adrenal Fatigue.
The Cruciferous supplement I paid over $40 for was even a bigger waste than the Adrenal Body Type kit. That seriously did NOTHING. I had no energy boost, no improved skin/hair/nails/nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'll stick to eating my raw veggies, thanks.
The book is a great starting point and will likely help many people if they are dedicated and committed and actually fall right into the category of one of the body types. I know I should focus on the 6 pound weight loss after this month and be happy but I'm worn down and miserable. I can't wait for this cold to finally go away and I'm reallllly hopeful that dropping this diet completely and switching over to a Adrenal Fatigue plan will work.
If you suspect you may have actual Adrenal Fatigue try "Adrenal Fatigue: The 21sr Century Stress Syndrome" by James L. Wilson. I have several more books to read on Adrenal Fatigue and will update if those are any good.
For those wondering about my actual diet:
Liver detox 2 weeks:
For the 2 week liver detox I drank the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar mix with plain fiber, dilluted to 32oz, every day. I cut the cranberry juice because I knew I couldn't have any added sugar.
Organic hard boiled eggs
Raw walnuts and pecans
Organic green olives
Omega 3 caplets
Organic greek yogurt
Raw Chia seeds
At least 4 cups of raw baby kale or spinach a day
At least 4 cups of raw veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and radishes a day
Steamed artichokes with organic mayo
1/3 cup blueberries every other day
At least one apple a day, for the first few days 3 or 4 apples but only 1 a day by the end
Dr. Berg's Cruciferous supplement
Adrenal detox 2 weeks:
Same as above but cut back on nuts and apples
Added in organic meat and salmon (expensive!)
Cut back on lemon drink
