A worthy successor to the previous prize-winning Mr Pusskins, it has the same vital, dramatic style (The Bookseller 2007-09-21)
Vivid and confident (The Bookbag 2008-07-29)
Every child who has been unjustly blamed for something another child has done will identify with Mr Pusskins, a long-haired furry ball of rage, indignation and hurt from his quivering tail to his expressive whiskers ... Irresistible (Books For Keeps 2008-09-01)
A fantastic, comical tale (Maternity & Infant 2008-09-01)
A telling tale of rivalry that comes to a happy and satisfactory conclusion (Junior 2008-10-01)
Hilarious (The Guardian 2008-01-19)
Funny and endearing story with stylish pictures (Bournemouth Daily Echo 2009-03-13)
A witty and charming read with endearing characters, conflicting emotions and a touching ending. Wonderful illustrations, too (Junior 2008-02-01)
My prize for the best-looking picture book goes to Mr Pusskins. Extremely funny, and crammed with chic, colourful illustrations. (The Daily Mail)
In picture book fiction I was excited by the energy of Sam Lloyd's Mr Pusskins and Little Whiskers. Working in the tradition of the great British cartoonists, and with a limited colour palette reminiscent of 1950s magazines, this is a super sequel to Mr Pusskins. Any older child who has suffered at the hands of an innocent-looking younger sibling (yes, that's me) will respond knowingly to Lloyd's cat tale. Lovely. (The Bookseller)
'How the grumpy old puss and the spirited kitten come to terms and settle into a comfortable life together is revealed with a sprightly touch in Sam Lloyd's hilarious illustrations.' (The Guardian)
"Every element of this confidently crafted picture book is beautifully orchestrated. Irresistible." (Books for Keeps)

Mr Pusskins is happy with Emily, all is well. And then she gets a new kitten. Oh dear... Nothing is the same now, but can Mr Pusskins manage to get rid of the little furball?
It's entertaining while also teaching small children about the sharing of toys, parents a house. And how it can be enjoyable. Mr Pusskins learns not to lie, about feeling guilty, about friendship.
It helps that Little Whiskers is cute as anything. And that grumpy old Mr Pusskins is just adorable even when he's miserable.
These stories are accessible even to 2 year olds, and would still have value for a KS1 class learning about values. Hope there are more on the way!
Sam Lloyd has done superbly, capturing the imagination of young kids with this great set of books.
