1.0 étoiles sur 5 The user functionality and countdown timer sucks 16 janvier 2014
Par Jermaine Forbes - Publié sur Amazon.com

The reason I was influenced to buy this product was for the fact that it advertised 4 countdown timers in one watch. When the watch finally came, I put it on and tried to access the countdown timer. The good news is that they do have a countdown timer feature. The bad news is that the functionality to setup a countdown timer is frustrating and annoying.

The process to setup a timer

In order to even setup a countdown timer, you have to flip to the countdown timer mode, hold the mode button for two seconds, then use the reset button to increase the amount of time you want to have on the timer. The biggest problem about this is the fact that you can increase the time, but you cannot decrease the time! If you wanted to set the timer to one minute and you went over a minute on accident, you have to hold down the reset button which flips through the 60 minutes until it comes back to 0. That is very annoying to do all the time because there are moments where you go over your desired time on accident, so now you have to hold down the reset button until it reverts back to 0. Not only do you have to do that , but you also have to load the countdown timer in order for it even run. I think that is completely stupid because my last watch that had a countdown timer didn't need to do all of that. All you had to do was set the time and start the time, but with this watch you have to do so many additional things in order for the countdown timer to work. Another issue I have with the countdown timer feature is the fact that it doesn't let you set up a countdown time into seconds. They only let you set up a countdown time into hours or minutes, which is a problem because sometimes I would like to countdown into seconds. My final and major gripe about this watch is that once you start the countdown time and it hits 0 it only beeps 2 times. ONLY 2 TIMES! and then it restarts itself. So lets say for example, you wanted a countdown timer to be at 1 minute. So you set it up and start it for one minute, once the timer hits 0 it only notifies that it ended by beeping 2 TIMES.After that it will restart itself back to 1 minute and countdown again. What type of countdown watch autostarts itself when I never commanded it to do so? In addition, these beeps are very faint, they are not loud beeps so if you were outside in a pretty noisy area you will not notice it going off.

So in conclusion if you are thinking about buying the watch for the countdown timer , I suggest you look somewhere else. There are other modes like the time, a second time, a chronograph, and a alarm. If you're buying the watch for that then go right ahead and buy it. But if you're looking for a functional countdown timer , DON'T BUY THIS WATCH

5.0 étoiles sur 5 So great for swim training I am getting another for my spouse 22 novembre 2013

So good for swimming I am buying another for my husband. I use Emmitt Hines techniques and also Total Immersion techniques for improving both my form and speed. And, so, I've used this watch, tucking it into my swim cap, to pace myself. At first, when I was really working out a better kick, and removing asymmetries in my bilateral breathing, I used the painfully slow 40 chirps per minute pacer setting (60/40 = 1.5 seconds between beeps)! At that slow speed, unless each side of your body works just like the other side, you'll have difficulty hitting the beep on your catch.

Then, once my form was flawless, I bumped it up to 45 bpm , then 50 bpm (a 1.2 second interval) etc. As I went faster, I refined my kick for each speed, and noticed improved efficiencies as I did so (both better times due to streamlining and less strokes per distance, or alternatively more distance per stroke).

The only downside is that you don't specify the interval (such as 1.2 seconds), but the chirp rate, in increments of 5. But, if you can live with that granularity, then it is a great cheap solution for working on your stroke. I've also dropped it in the deep end a few times, and it is still ticking. Sure it is a little awkward under the cap but you hear it just fine, and wont bother anyone else. You could probably cut off or remove the arm band if you wanted.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Also a Tempo Trainer & a Lap Counter in the Pool 12 juillet 2013
Par Frau Schott - Publié sur Amazon.com

'Just used this watch for the pace (tempo) and lap counting functions for the first time today in the pool-- this watch is good. (The lifeguard of this 4-lane/25-yard pool was wondering where the beeps were coming from, ha...)

I purchased this watch instead of the possibly-unreliable Finis Tempo Trainer Pro for use as my "Tempo Trainer" and lap counter in the swimming pool. The pace function can be set from a super-slow one beep for every 1.5 second to 3 beats for every second.

For the pacer or pacer & lap counting combined functions, I tucked the watch (unbuckled, spread out, above my forehead, with the counter and stop buttons on top for easy access) under a 3-inch wide head band that I cut from a ripped swim cap. (I don't like ear plugs digging into my ears under the swim cap. So, I wear the head band over my swim cap to extend the cap coverage over the ears).

I'm glad that I bought this instead of the Tempo Trainer Pro.

P.S. As of 4/29/2014, this watch is still working fine.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 This watch works great in the pool 28 octobre 2014

I decided to buy this instead of the Finis Tempo Trainer - after reading a review of someone else who had done that. This watch works great in the pool. I took the wristbands off, so it fits nicely under my swim cap. The tempo function works great and it was a fraction of the cost of the Finis. I don't really use the watch itself, but it has plenty of useful/average features and set-up is quite simple.
3.0 étoiles sur 5 Beeping all the time is annoying 20 novembre 2013

This watch was meant to be just a cheap timer stopwatch type of thing, so I bought it. Whatever... it's fine. It's cheap. My main problem is that when I put it in a bag or something, it accidentally get's the button's pushed and starts beeping. It always ends up beeping on me, and so I can't take it anywhere without somehow trying to wrap it up so that it doesn't get the buttons pushed. But, it never works. Very annoying to have to pull it out of my bag to make the beeping stop.
