Présentation de l'éditeur

In this powerful book of quotations, Byron Katie talks about the most essential issues that face us all - love, sex, and relationships; health, sickness, and death; parents and children; work and money; and self-realization. The profound, lighthearted wisdom embodied within is not theoretical; it is absolutely authentic. Not only will this book help you on many specific issues, but it will point you toward your own wisdom and will encourage you to question your own mind, using the four simple yet incredibly powerful questions of Katie's process of self-inquiry, called The Work. Katie is a living example of the clear, all-embracing love that is our true identity. Because she has thoroughly questioned her own mind, her words shine with the joy of understanding. ''People used to ask me if I was enlightened,'' she says, ''and I would say, 'I don't know anything about that. I'm just someone who knows the difference between what hurts and what doesn't. ' I'm someone who wants only what is. To meet as a friend each concept that arose turned out to be my freedom. '' --Ce texte fait référence à une édition épuisée ou non disponible de ce titre.

Biographie de l'auteur

Byron Katie, founder of The Work, has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. When Katie appears, lives change. As she guides people through her simple and powerful process of inquiry, called The Work, they find again and again that their stressful beliefs - about life, other people, or themselves - radically and positively shift. Through The Work, anyone with an open mind can learn to identify, question, and heal the thoughts that cause them pain. Katie not only teaches that all the problems in the world originate in our thinking: she gives us the tool to open our minds and set ourselves free. It has been her heart's desire and tireless privilege to Work with millions of people at free public events, in prisons, hospitals, churches, corporations, universities, and schools. Participants at her weekend workshops and her unparalleled nine-day School for The Work and 28-day Turnaround House report profound experiences and lasting transformations. ''Katies events are riveting to watch,'' the Times of London reported. Eckhart Tolle calls The Work ''a blessing for our planet.'' And Time magazine named Katie a ''spiritual innovator for the new millennium.''Byron Katie is the author of the bestselling books Loving What Is: Four Questions That Can Change Your Life, I Need Your Love - Is That True?, and A Thousand Names for Joy: Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are. .... . On her website, www.thework.com you will find her blog, her schedule, a network of facilitators, a free hotline, audio and video clips, articles, and basic information about Katie and The Work, including free materials to download. Her book with Hay House, Question Your Thinking, Change the World: Quotations from Byron Katie was published in 2007, and her latest book, also with Hay House, Who Would You Be Without Your Story?, was published in October 2008.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Interesting way to look at.... 5 février 2011

This is Byron Katies work with quotations separated into different topic areas. It is a nice refresher book but better to get one of her other books (Loving What is or I need your love is it true?) first. It has brought up some questions for me since some quotes are taken out of context. I am enjoying the book though, but if you are new to the work, get one that explains the concepts.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Loosen the stronghold of ego 24 septembre 2012

If you have read Loving What Is, you know that Katie doesn't pull any punches. As she says, don't fight with reality; you lose 100% of the time. In this book she clarifies what is your business and demonstrates how to stay out of other's business (thinking you know what they should do with their lives) and "God's" business (worrying about natural disasters or anything out of your control). By asking hard questions that challenge the stories we tell ourselves, Katie shows how to loosen the stronghold of ego and release the freedom that is our essence. This book is a selection of short quotes from her work, placed in five chapters: 1. On Love, Sex, and Relationships, 2. On Health, Sickness, and Death, 3. On Parents and Children, 4. On Work and Money, 5. On Self-Realization. If one of the five topics is hot for you, I suggest reading the full chapter. Or, I find that each short quote is food for reflection.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Saves My Life Daily 19 juillet 2009

Byron Katie's inquiry work saves my life daily. With 56,000 random, recycled, thoughts flowing through "the mind" each day, getting attached and playing out dramas can be enticing. This book is a size that I can carry in my purse and bring out with unexpected periods of waiting show up.
Each reference seems as if it has been written directly for me and about my life experience. I suspect others who read this can make a similar claim. The clarity of each reference flowers and gives me pause. Each tidbit of consciousness resonates deeply into my cells. Katie reminds me on each page that "the mind has no answers and the heart has no questions" a quote by Philip Golabuk, [...].

5.0 étoiles sur 5 One of the clearest voices on the planet today. 22 septembre 2013

Byron Katie discovered in 1986 that we all hold the keys to open the doors of the prisons of our minds. She helps us to see those keys in the most gentle/fierce way. This book allows us to see The Work in action as she artfully guides the participants through their stories toward reality.
