5.0 étoiles sur 5 Still the Best Home Color Around 13 mai 2011

I've been using Colorsilk for over 20 years now and it still works better AND looks better than any of the more expensive brands out there. It always gives me a multi-dimensional color - lots of highlights and lowlights. I always use the touch-up method and it never comes out too harsh (or over colors the ends). I've used various shades over the years (even mixing them) and they've all given me the same great coloring. The coverage is great. I've tried the foams and mousse and cremes of all the major brands and have always been disappointed in comparison to this inexpensive haircolor.

It's very easy to use. One tip: rather than rinsing in the sink, rinse in the shower - it makes it a very simple clean up. I've dropped the solution on the sink, in the tub, on the shower curtain and walls with no staining. Simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel and it's gone. It will stain clothes.

There isn't a strong odor to the solution - no ammonia. I do love the rinse. It used to be sold separately as Revlon "Milk" conditioner. I always use the full package which seems like too much but it really works. After rinsing out the solution, my curly hair is very rough, tangled and generally "icky" feeling. After the conditioner, my hair is in better shape than before I colored. Even when I wasn't coloring regularly, I often colored when my hair seemed droopy or dry just for the conditioning.

Another tip: If you find that one shade comes out too dark and the next shade lower is too light, you can mix them together to get the perfect shade (you can also tone down the reds by mixing a golden brown with an ash brown). When you mix, pour 1/2 of each color bottle into one solution bottle and put the 1/2 filled color bottles and the unused second solution bottle away for the next coloring - costs exactly the same per coloring.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great warm reddish brown! 30 mars 2015

This Medium Golden Chestnut Brown (46) turned out as a lovely warm, reddish brown, on my fine, medium dark brown hair. My hair already had hints of red, so it just amped them up quite a bit. My hairdresser likes the outcome, too.

Love this color, for me, and the Colorsilk line in general.

Did my homework on this one. After years of salon color to cover my 80% grey, this old lady's shoulder-length tresses were looking dull, brittle, fly-away, and my scalp was frequently stinging or itchy. Spent much money trying to "condition" the problem away, but instead found that none of the formulas worked.

The obvious next step was to investigate other haircoloring methods. Styling blogs and product reviews commented on demi-permanent hair-color as a good solution for those with resistant, fast-growing grays in the crown of the head. I was finding at 5-6 weeks after the last visit to the salon, an inch-wide halo of white growth along any part on the top of my head...not a pretty sight.) I've found on the plus side for demi-permanent solutions, they are gentler, can be used a little more often. and don't result in a sharp demarcation line showing up between gray and color as the hair grows out.

Interestingly about the last, and several blogs had commented on this. It appears the gentle blend of grey and color, between old and new growth, is due to the color coverage not being as complete, While that's something you would not think that could work to anyone's advantage. in fact, it does, Subtly blending of gray and color makes the new growth less obvious.

At this point I've probably tried almost every Colorsilk blonde and found it not possible to get back to that bright blond I once had with permanent color. But light gold ash will work, if my hair is healthy and the scalp feels great. And as the Colorsilk fades fades out some between colorings, the fade is mostly on the ash and that the gold tone brightens up.

If you do have resistant gray, perhaps like me, you probably find your hair is selective about which haircolor tone it absorbs. For me, trying the medium blonde boxes resulted in drab or orange tones predominant and the more subtle warm, non-brassy gold tones, absent or covered. And going with a color with blond tones alone, the demi-permanent solution was just not delivering enough coverage. For me, it seems the very lightest bit of ash results in a light-medium ash just after coloring, with the color lightening and the gold showing up more, as time passes between coloring.

I used this product years ago in the same shade of pure darkest brown. It is now ammonia free which is great. However, I feel like the color of the brown has changed. It used to come out an almost black color. This time, it came out a dark brown with a kind of Orangeish hue at my roots. My hair was already dark brown, I was just freshening up. Well my hair feels amazing! Soft and silky and I had very minimal hair damage or strand loss while using. However, I was expecting darker.

To Revlon's credit this is the first time I have ever used a boxed dye that wasn't a foam by myself and I definitely missed spots; so the orange tint at the root may be because I missed my roots lol who knows. Will most likely use again but probably in black. If you're concerned about hair health.....this is the product for you. The conditioner is insane!!! It's so amazing.

Also I didn't straighten my hair so it's frizzy so just ignore that. Actually, I really hate it now, the color bc I did it uneven. If you don't know how to use box dye. Have someone else do it lol omg!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great price for 3 boxes 29 octobre 2016

Because I have long, thick, & relatively coarse hair I do need to use about 3 boxes of hair dye. This set of 3 was beyond cheaper than I would normally pay at a salon or even that with other at-home hair dyes. Only con is that it takes quite a while for the excess dye to wash out; took about 5 days of daily showering for the water to run clear. Looks natural, covers white hair great, & didn't really damage my hair! :D

EDIT: just saw this at my local Target for $2-$3 per box...smh I should've shopped around! It's only a couple dollars but still...
