Description du produit
The fifth title of this exclusive and all new DVD collection for fans, we take an inside look at the British actor, producer and musician for five decades: David Bowie. Most famous for his alter-ego, the ostentatious, androgynous ''Ziggy Stardust'' during the glam-rock era of the early 1970s, Bowie has continually reinvented his music and image and is regarded as an influential innovator, particularly in rock music. He has had numerous top ten hits in the UK charts, most notably China Girl, Modern Love and Starman, with Space Oddity, Under Pressure and Let s Dance reaching #1, amongst others. Bowie is also a multi-instrumentalist, singing vocals as well as playing Electric, Acoustic, and Twelve String Guitar, Keyboards, Alto, Tenor, Piano, Harmonica, Xylophone, Tambourine, Drums, Percussion and many other instruments, making him one of the most multi-talented musicians in the world. Told through missing-believed-wiped archive interviews and rare and unseen footage, this insightful DVD is a worthy addition to any Bowie collection. Items genuinely unseen and never before appeared on DVD including film from the ITN archive. Includes lost and now restored TV interviews from the past and rare film of the singer talking about his career. A must for the die-hard fan! Includes Easter Egg!

Basically the dvd is the well bootleged russell harty interview and a few bits and pieces which include some snippets from the brilliant carlos alomar and peter frampton with some rehearsal footage mostly from super channel from the late 80's and most of these cover the year of 1987 and glass spider era, there's also bits from the cut and paste interview david gave prior to the release of heathen of which was shown late night on itv, you also get a short pre show interview from london weekend with janet street porter from 1978 and a tiny interview from the tube.
So not bad i hear you say ,um no because the entire dvd has been edited to pieces and is all over the place and to be honest it's a complete mess.
i'm sure many bowie fans would enjoy the prospect of a newly restored russell harty interview but instead of just keeping it complete the editor has seen it appropriate to keep freezing the interview and throwing in random clips of the aforementioned interviews all the way through, it's quite pathetic really especially when the exact same clips are shown again in the latter part of the dvd and all this totally ruins what should have been a must buy.
What makes matters worse is every few minutes you get so called bowie impersonator stevie riks singing bowie songs, and i will pre warn you now these are absolutely dire and quite frankly painful so be warned this guy cannot sing nor does he sound anything like david and makes a mockery of his songs!
And that's it......yes that's what i thought as well, oh i nearly forgot the easter egg......Click on david's signature and you get something really special.
You remember me warning you about the the impersonator, well for just over 7 minutes you can hear every clip of mr riks one after the other! What a waste of time.
To sum it up if you are a casual bowie fan then don't bother with this, if you are a big fan id still be hard pushed to recommend this to you as you will have seen all this before (and without stupid editing) and honestly it's a bit of a mess and borders on perhaps the worst official release bearing david's name ive ever seen.
The cover claims to include an unseen rare interview from 1999. It's actually a segment from the 1997 ITV broadcast Bowie @ 50. At one point on the disc, a whole section is repeated again for almost 10 minutes for no apparent reason. If you're still reading, the programme also includes snippets of Bowie songs performed by a so called sound alike. He is truly atrocious and should be hung, drawn and quartered for his despicable contribution.AVOID.
Buy Janelle Monae's 'ArchAndroid' CD instead.
I don't usually leave feedback but being a Bowie fanatic i figured other fans may be tempted to buy for the same reasons...DON'T.
There really is very little on here you couldn't dig up online for free and learn more about the great man in doing so. More to the point, what you view online will be better compiled and edited. Avoid this product, a complete waste of money.
