5.0 étoiles sur 5 A fragile tool to be sure, but a valuable one 19 octobre 2012
Par John Wheeler - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Cuir/luxe Achat vérifié
The "critical review" (no irony at all intended) given below, and the other comments given, are very helpful. That said, I am really looking forward to using this tool. As with so many Bibles, it uses very thin paper and so the pages will wrinkle very fast with all but the most careful use. The binding is flexible and durable but it too must be handled with care. But these matters are no worse than in the compact Letteris Edition/Delitzsch Hebrew New Testament combined that I use, and I have no real difficulty using that - this Bible is simply on a larger scale.

I give this 5 stars because of the potential usefulness of the content. Not only will it enable me to improve my fluency in reading Biblical Hebrew, but it will help jump-start my reading of the Greek New Testament beyond the beginner's stage. Reading Franz Delitzsch's Hebrew New Testament is valuable to me in many ways but no translation conveys everything and despite what some people allege, the New Testament was written in Greek (even if sometimes drawing upon Aramaic and Hebrew sources). For someone on the "low road" of original-language studies, this will be an excellent companion if treated the way I believe all books should be treated anyway.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Brings Joy and Ease to Reading Greek and Hebrew 18 novembre 2012
Par Bror Erickson - Publié sur Amazon.com

I bought this volume a year ago to keep around the house. I normally keep my Greek and Hebrew texts at the office but often found as I would be reading scripture or getting into discussions at home that I wanted to have a Greek and Hebrew text close at hand. This is especially true when Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons come knocking.
Many of the comments here criticize the binding and the cover material, and I don't understand that. The book opens just fine for my liking. The fonts are great, nice and large, which I find very helpful with my fading eyesight.
If I were to complain it would be that the definitional glosses for unfamiliar vocab, though overall they are great, they can also be a bit misleading at times. I also think the book could benefit from some grammar charts. That said, it is a reader's edition. It works great for that. Grammar charts can be found, printed and tucked in the pages. Stronger dictionaries can be found. There are even some great ones that are relatively cheap. Kindle editions of Strong's lexicons work great in conjunction with this book.
What I have found since buying this is I end up doing a lot more study at home than I used too. My other Greek and Hebrew texts remain unattended at the office. My mornings start at the kitchen table with prayer and reading and before I know it they have ended there too. This reader's edition somehow just brings a sense of joy to reading Greek and Hebrew, and for this, I am very grateful.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 This is intended to bridge the gap between the vocabulary ... 23 janvier 2017
Par Janet Miller - Publié sur Amazon.com

This is intended to bridge the gap between the vocabulary one learns in first year Greek, and the vocabulary one needs to read New Testament Greek, however, there is still a gap, since a first year student might learn all the words that are found 50 times or more in the Greek NT, but the readers' lexicon on each page only covers words found fewer than 30 times.

An additional problem is the Greek text is that behind Today's New International Version, rather than that of the standard UBS' Greek New Testament or Nestle-Aland's text.

The Old Testament, however, is the only such text with a reader's lexicon built in, and it uses the standard BHS.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Better Quality Binding 24 mars 2017

I was so impressed that I immediately bought a 2nd one so that I can have one on a scanner and use the other as my personal Bible.

I have a copy of "A Reader's Hebrew Bible" which is totally shot and requires a new binding. This Hebrew/Greek Bible does not use the rubberized binding that they used on the "A Reader's Hebrew Bible". Instead it uses what feels like a strong smooth leather. I do not see this Bible breaking down even under my abuse. It definitely will not be leaving small rubber flakes everywhere like their other binding does when it starts to break down.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Well designed 21 juillet 2016
Par S. M. Graydon - Publié sur Amazon.com

I think whoever designed this has had the experience of learning to read the Hebrew Bible as an adult or at least well understands what it is like. The Hebrew text appears on each page with all the hard words listed at the bottom of the page. This is exactly what the new reader needs. Doing a Hebrew course will acquaint the student with many words but of course there are many others which have to be looked up - this is where this book is so well designed with the hard words on each page so one doesn't have to look them up. Today I read Deuteronomy 16 and there were some new words there, I try to read 1 chapter a day or perhaps half a chapter a day, there are almost always new words. I certainly recommend this volume to those who wish to read the Bible in the original languages.
