It is about time that the Alkaline Trio put out another CD like this. Even the most devoted of fans can have a hard time getting their hands on some of these rarities. This CD is a collection of some of the B-Sides, unreleased tracks, EP tracks, split CD tracks, etc. that the band has recorded over the past few years. This one is very similar to their self-titled release, but listeners will notice some major differences. This is some of Alkaline Trio's more recent stuff, and there are some interesting tunes to be found on this CD.

Those who favored "From Here to Infirmary" and "Maybe I'll Catch Fire" will probably like the following songs on this CD: Hell Yes, Queen of Pain, I'm Dying Tomorrow (Live). And for those who liked "Crimson," there is a live version of Dethbed. I don't think there is anything on here that is in the same vein as "Good Mourning," but that could just be me.

And then there's some obscure things on this release as well, such as My Standard Break From Life, Old School Reasons, If You Had a Bad Time, We Can Never Break Up, and Buried. All of these songs stray away from the "normal" Alkaline Trio path.

The DVD is something to speak of as well. The closest the band has ever come to releasing anything like this is their backstage footage from their "The Show Must Go Off" DVD put out by Kung-Fu records. This is more than just footage of live shows, it gives a glimpse into what an Alkaline Trio tour is really like.

All in all, this is a much better buy than trying to locate all of these songs individually. If you are a long time fan of the band, you probably have most of these songs already, but it worth buying for the DVD and cool cover art. If you have never listened to the band before, this would be a good place to start. This CD gives an adequate sampling of the band's music in its more recent years. That said, give it a try.

I agree with some of the previous reviews that many songs are not new but there are plenty that are and the ones that I had previously heard happened to be some of my favorites so no harm, no foul for me. I am a 43 year old original punk and discoved this band three years ago and I have to admit they have become my favorite. My 13 year old loves the album also, he loves Metro, which is my least favorite since it was an overplayed pop song when I was a kid. Rooftops, Old School Reasons, and If you had a bad time, are some of my favorites, although I have to admit that I have been listening to the disc non-stop for a few months now and am very grateful for the band. I am a little confused by their sophmoric infactuation with blood, death and depression.

Cheers to Alkaline Trio! Keep em coming boys!

Nothing new here, but for the live tracks, but what's here absolutely rocks. This band is nothing short of incredible, both recorded and live. Incidentally, to the other reviewer, "Rooftops" was not written by the Trio, but is a cover of a Hot Water Music song.

After I heard one of their songs online I decided to buy an album at Borders (God rest their soul.) Remains caught my eye because of the non-jewel case cover and the name. I brought it home and fell love.

It's been 5 years, many Alkaline Trio songs and albums later, and this is still my favorite album. As it's B sides from their different albums, it's very representative of the band so far. It has some of their punky songs, rocky songs, and some of their softer-sounding songs (I'm thinking Don't Say You Won't.)

If you're looking to pick up an album by them and don't know where to start, this album has the highest possibility of having a song you'll love on it.

It also has a super detailed lyric booklet with notes from the band, something that I always LOVE! I hate when artists fill the lyric booklet with dumb pictures and a short 'thanks' message.

In total, this is a timeless, talented, awesome album.
