Présentation de l'éditeur

In Requiem for the Assassin, El Rey, the world's deadliest assassin, is called into the field to terminate a list of seemingly unrelated targets on behalf of CISEN, the Mexican Intelligence Agency. But things are never as they seem in the murky world of intrigue, and he quickly goes from being the hunter to the prey.

Q&A with Russell Blake

Q: This is the sixth book in the Assassin series?

RB: Depends on how you count them. If you include the prequel, Night of the Assassin, it's #6. If you start at the first book in the series and look at the prequel as sort of 1a, it's #5.

Q: How is this different than the others in the series?

RB: I take a little more time to set the stage, but the main thing is the approach to the story. I wanted to craft something where the reader wasn't sure what the story was really about, to mirror the characters not knowing what's actually going on even as events play out around them. That sense of disequilibrium was key to the concept - the reader discovers how everything is connected and makes sense just as the characters do. It's different than any of the prior books in the sense that we aren't really sure who the bad guys are until the denouement, whereas in the prior books it was pretty obvious up front who was good and who was bad.

Q: Is there much more road for El Rey and Captain Cruz?

RB: I see at least one more episode, maybe two. Depends on how the next one finishes. I do love both characters, so I'm reluctant to write the last book, but I've got no interest in dragging it out and inventing story just to pad a series. My sense is we're nearing the end, but how or when it ends, I'm not sure yet.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Requiem Moves Like a Bullet! 8 septembre 2014

Requiem for the Assassin moves like a bullet! In what is inarguably the best book of the ASSASSIN series, Russell Blake has outdone himself. CISEN has ordered El Rey to assassinate multiple targets, among them a glamorous reporter, an admiral in the Mexican Navy, a clergyman and a farmer who is virtually unknown. Kidnappings also play a prominent part in the story. Cruz, as always, is on El Rey's trail. Blake keeps his story moving and he is satisfactorily able to tie everything together by the end in a way that is not a cheat.

Requiem will have you writhing as you frantically try to turn the pages as fast as you can. Russell Blake is a must buy author for me and once you start any of his series, you will automatically click on the purchase button just as I do when you see a new offering.

It will be difficult for Russell Blake to outdo Requiem for the Assassin, but I know that he will. Well done, Mr. Blake! Keep them coming!

I just finished Requiem for the Assassin, and I think I like this book the best of all. (Although all the books are great!) I love the idea of liking the "Good Guy" and the "Bad Guy". Can't wait for the next book---hopefully within the next year. It almost sounds like El Rey will have a romantic tie---hope so! Once I started reading, I couldn't stop until the end......very satisfying !!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 "Requiem for the Assassin"--Blake's best yet! 11 septembre 2014

"Requiem for the Assassin" is Russell Blake's best yet! I was on the edge of my chair, it was so thrilling, and finished it much too quickly. True, it was a bit, um, gory in parts, but you don't read the Assassin series for sweetness and light, do you? Although I've enjoyed every single novel in this series, this is the best so far. El Rey seemed a bit more human, if you can believe that.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading another new Russell Blake book-- it's to be hoped, this year! I'm also enthralled with the Jet series, although I do wish that poor woman could get some rest occasionally.

I loved the whole series. This book was one of the best of the series. I hope the author will continue with another book with the characters working together as a team.
