If you refuse to buy knives made in China, then you can stop reading now as this is where the knife is made. For those who are okay with off shore production, what you're going to find is a well-made knife with excellent fit and finish, a nice tight blades with a good snap and wonderful tobacco smooth bone handles with a Rough Rider Acorn Shield. (The acorn shield is used throughout the Rough Rider Ourdoorsman Series.)
The Frame of the closed knife is four inches. The main blade is a three inch long sheepfoot blade. I really like this blade because it fits better in the pocket and is easier to sharpen than a standard hawkbill blade. The secondary blade is a 2 1/4 inch long pen blade. As pen blade go, on pocket knives, that's pretty big.
Both blades are 440a Razor Sharp Stainless Steel which is common of Rough Rider Knives. As mentioned they have a great snap and absolutely no wobble when opened or closed. The blades are separated by full brass liners. They both have a distinct half stop when opening and closing. Bolsters are ringed nickel silver as is the shield. The smooth bone handles are held in place with epoxy as well as brass pins. The strong back springs made of stainless steel provide excellent support for the blades while not exerting so much tension that the blades are hard to open.
If you collect cotton samplers or rope knives or are just looking for a great quality folding knife for gardening, pruning bushes, or cutting rope then this a knife to consider buying.
I just wished they gave it a lanyard hole to a bale! (Of course the original Loom fixer also lacked a lanyard hole.)
The fit and finish is outstanding. Better than any Boker I've had and as nice as any Case I own. Scale to bolster. Blade to backspring. Grind lines. Walk and talk. Half stops. Top notch all the way. Pen blade slightly off center but not enough to scratch it up, won't affect it's functioning. It didn't come shaving sharp but sharp enough to use until I can touch it up. I've paid twice as much for knives that weren't half as nice. Get one, you won't be sorry. - Frank V
Yes, there were a couple fit and finish flaws, but many higher priced knives also have fit and finish flaws.
For the price, this will make a good daily use knife without worrying about losing or damaging a high priced pocket knife.
Get yourself one...you won't be disappointed.
