This is the review for the NX1100 with galaxy tab and Adobe Lightroom.
Its a pretty decent compact camera, feature rich and capable of high quality pictures.
Three outstanding features are 1080 video at 30 frames a second, 20 mega pixel images and extensive Wi-fi.
Outside of the camera there is the Galaxy tab which is a very respectable size and which comes with 4GB of built in memory.
Then the lightroom software which is great for developing your images and is very good at managing them too.
One thing I found really useful was to install the Lightroom software as soon as - and to then immediately upgrade to the latest version which is version 4.4 or later (get free upgrade from Adobe).
This allows you to process Raw files with ease which provides for best quality. This advantages of this can't be overstressed.
Now for the big downer: I found the software supplied by Samsung practically useless. It would not install on one computer and on another it installed but the Wi-fi feature never once worked.
This is more than made up for by the Lightroom software which is very professional and has excellent support from Adobe.
A lesser issue is some of the Wi-fi features are hard to set up - it does take a bit of time to get everything working.
I've tried the e-mail feature which works a treat (odd having emails being sent to you my your camera) and the smart phone app which allows you to share images with the Galaxy tab or a smart phone. Very nice - you can view pictures on a larger device anywhere you go or share pictures with friends.
The actual pictures it takes are pretty cool and at the current price (around £350) pretty amazing, considering that you get Lightroom and the Galaxy tab in the bargain.
The camera has a recent firmware upgrade which allows for improved performance.
I'll definitely be considering other lenses having seen the performance of the kit that comes with the camera, which is good, but which lacks Optical image stabilization - a feature I am really keen on.
This is not a basic camera - it takes some time to learn the basic controls, and then there are the advanced controls --- but anyone who has ever used a DSLR will find this pretty easy to get used to.
If you are new to photography you should definitely take time to read the manual, but even advanced users will find some very useful features tucked in somewhere in the extensive feature list. The manual focus assist is definitely something useful to look at because manual focusing without it is a drag, but the continuous auto focus also works pretty well.
The ISO range and shutter speed range is pretty vast. This allows you to get the good images with a wide aperture even in strong daylight. And if anything doesn't come out right, a trip to Lightroom can fix even major problems with many images, but this again is something that takes a bit of time to learn to get right.
All in all the experience has been first rate and I am still discovering what the cam has to offer.
