Présentation de l'éditeur

San Francisco's vibrant street art scene exists in areas off the city's well-worn tourist paths. The alleyways and hidden side streets of the Haight, the Tenderloin, and especially the Mission district's Clarion Alley offer unexpected treats to visitors lucky enough to stumble upon them. For more than five years, photographer Steve Rotman has obsessively documented this scene as it evolved on walls, sidewalks, billboards, fences, doors, and other public spaces. Culled from thousands of images, the result is a collection of work that attests to the artists' personal and stylistic diversity, from Mars1's robotic depictions of alternate universes which reflect the local counterculture spirit, to Neck Face's whimsically ghoulish creatures that serve as a testament to entrepreneurial hipsterdom, to Bigfoot's friendly green primates inspired by the area's rich graffiti culture. San Francisco's charm as an international destination also causes foreign artists to contribute to the street dialogue-Brazilian duo Os Gemeos, Londoner D*Face and German painter Dome have all graced the city's walls with their unique points of view. An enterprising photographer, Rotman has forged relationships with many of these often-reclusive artists, allowing him access to some of the lesser-known corners of the street art world.

Très bon état pour un livre d'occasion. Collection sympa (qui ne prend pas de place) pour les amateurs de graffitis.Arrivé à mon domicile plus tôt que prévu.

is an dizzying array of artistry, often lurking below the average person's perception. This book demonstrates the sheer beauty of "street art," the stencils and pastes and murals that pop up on just about every urban street, yet are easy to miss, particularly in a city like SF that has so much going on. The author, Steve Rotman, is a fantastic photographer--check out his other recent book, "Bay Area Graffiti"--who gives you a sense not just of the art people are making, but the context in which this art appears. I'm somewhat confused by the distinction between "street art" and "graffiti"; street art seems more accessible and message-driven, and for that reason more interesting at first glance to the novice viewer. Both of Rotman's books, though, introduce you to a visually stunning world that you may have gotten glimpses of in the past, but never really saw.

Steve Rotman has again captured the San Francisco street art scene with amazing photos. This small book pulsates with energy and vibrant color! The book is packed with a large-sized selection of images.
Rotman knows how to capture shoot the famed Bay Area scene.

Bought as a gift for a son who loves street art and lives in SF. Nice photos, but not much bigger than post cards, which wasn't clear from the description. I didn't expect a huge coffee-table book for the price, but art books are generally considerably bigger than this! I think he will still like it, but it'll end up as a stocking stuffer at Christmas.

I bought this for a friend who recently moved to San Fransico and didn't know anything about the place. He is really into street art so I thought he would really like this and can possible go walk around and look at the art himself. I got this sent to me because I didn't have his address yet. So I got to look it over and realized that it's only the art, it doesn't have any addresses or street names on where the art is located--which I was a little bummed about. The book is still really nice, but it would be even better with art locations.

Well I always enjoy picture books, but in this instance, I wasnt careful about checking the dimensions. The book was about as big as 2 decks of cards side by side. However the content was pretty good. Certainly not a cofee table book.
