I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano. This book not only teaches basic notes and scales but technique as well. It has nice diagrams and pictures to make learning much easier. It is very simple and has a nice step by step approach to teaching. I like that it has YouTube videos to accompany the book. It's great for the visual learner!

Not only does this book teach you technique and form, but also helps get that muscle memory moving by taking you deep into the pianist's mind. An example, shared quite early on in the book tells the beginner to not only play the simple three note exercise with their right hand, but to say the note names as they play as well. Incredibly simple, but also incredibly effective.

While the book is easy enough to follow along with - provided YOU have the desire and drive to learn - I must say the best part about this release is the related free video lessons on the YouTube channel. As long as you have an internet connection, you have a digital piano teacher to assure you along the way. Other books may have more detailed writing, trying to explain how to position your fingers to play a certain scale, but actually seeing it done on your computer screen is a godsend.

Overall, for the the price, and including the free video lessons, I believe this is one of the best beginner piano books out there. Now it is up to YOU to become the pianist you've always dreamt of.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 It will get you playing 27 décembre 2013

If you want to learn proper theory and technique then this is the piano book to get. As a piano teacher, it is nice to come across a book that covers this from the beginning to advanced levels. This is important even for the casual player. It improves performance and minimizes the chance of a hand injury. You don't want to stress the hands. If you are trying to teach yourself, check out the accompanying youtube videos.

The ebook is quite handy. Next time one of my students forget their books, I'll just pull this up on my phone! The instructions and pictures are easy to follow. I will be supplementing this to the current books I teach from. This book doesn't have songs in it. That's a good thing. Many songs in lesson books tend to be outdated. Not everyone likes that. Following this book, you'll be able to jam to your fav tunes in no time, and hopefully make up some of your own.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Very effective tool for everyone! 9 janvier 2014

I am a pretty weak pianist when it comes to technique. This book provides all of the information I need to learn scales, arpeggios, chords, and harmony in every key and mode! I was really impressed with the amount of detail that goes into every section. The text is very clear and the print is easy to read. Fingering suggestions are offered throughout the book.

As an educator, I would find very practical use of this book. For today's generation, YouTube videos supplement the course by providing a reference to work from. I believe that most students today can pick up a lot of info from video instructions, in addition to a book. Even I may utilize this book some day as teaching instruction, because it also teaches theory along the way, and I believe that the keyboard is a fast way to learn theory.

I will be recommending this book to any educator looking to teach piano or theory students, but I also recommend it to those who want to learn the piano on their own.

This Piano Scales Book is Friendly, starting from the Basics all the way up to Advance. They go from Finger positions, motions, postures, to Music Theory and different types of Clef to make anyone who is willing to learn Piano Highly easy to do so. If you want to jump right into the fray of Piano playing and techniques, this will help you start where you need to be at. With each Lesson having its own video and friendly instructions, it makes even me who has trouble with the finger positions along with each key strokes, has lead to me being able to play my favorite songs without must trouble. Which I am still going through the book myself, I can at least play a few scores from Harry Potter without much trouble. The Videos they've presented with each lesson is pleasant and capturing to the eyes, with a smoothing voice behind each lesson, that leads to no drowning and boredom that most people feel during a classroom. With Damon showing us how each lesson is meant to be, its very easy to stay on track and keep on track.

Each Lesson shows where the finger positions should be located, what the lesson will be concentrated on and a video below so everyone can not only see, plus hear what each lessons means but they get a way of how playing the piano should be. Once you start going through each lesson, they have you start from Level 1, to Level 5 which means your basically able to start your own style of piano after level 5 Advance Piano techniques. I'm currently on level 2 which I start with multiple major cords and scales, it keeps on advancing as you go throughout the book. Take your time with each lesson till you basically can do it with your eyes close then continue to the next level. With a book both entertaining and informational it will only take a short time to fully learn the Piano.
