The Schwalbe Kojak is one of the later tires. It is light in weight, rather narrow in profile, and very fast~! It is *not* the best at protecting against flats, nor is it that great on non-paved surfaces like limestone, gravel, dirt, etc.
I love and have used the Schwalbe Big Apple tire (20X2.00) for about 1600 miles and completely love it, PERIOD! It *IS* great for smoothing out the bumps, for pavement, and non-pavement, and is probably in the top 3 or 4 for flat protection too. But the BA is not a fast tire for pavement!
That's why I bought a set of these puppies! A set of three of these (20X1.35), with tubes, cut right at 4lbs off the weight of my trike, and not just weight, but rotational, spinning weight. Right away I can tell that I can get up to speed much faster than with the BAs.
Plus, on smooth pavement, my average speed has increased 1.3 to 1.5mph - simply by doing a tire change.
I do plan to get another set of BAs, as much of my riding is on a limestone MUP. But since swapping tires is easy (these mount tool-free on my wheels), any time I plan to do any long pavement rides, I'll throw these on.
The performance change is worth both the hassle and cost, I am well-pleased, and will buy these again!
