HASH(0x905f533c) étoiles sur 5 No thank you... 12 décembre 2013

Oh my word. I really don't know where to start...especially given all the rave reviews. I guess it was just written for a MUCH younger audience.

First off, I hardly liked ANY of the characters, except maybe Seth. Rylie was obnoxious before becoming a werewolf and definitely after. With few redeeming qualities I found myself wishing someone would slap her. Often.

SPOILERS -
I felt as though the author sat down every few pages and thought, "what cliche social issue should I throw in now?" I mean, we've got: divorce, teenage rebellion, drugs, gay best friend, lesbian aunt with HIV/AIDS, losing a favorite parent at a young age, hitchhiking, boyfriend's family hates her, teenage sex... (at 13? really?!), "mean girls"...and those are just off the top of my head. Ridiculous. And I stopped at 50%. In fact I don't even know how I lasted that long. I asked my husband, "do you ever keep reading a book that you just don't like?" When he said no, I realized I should move on...there are much better books out there!

HASH(0x905f5588) étoiles sur 5 A lot of typos and errors in the story line. 30 décembre 2013

The book is somewhat of a different story idea, but it was honestly frustrating to read it with so many typos and errors in the story line. Seemed like the author got ahead of herself in writing the story that she forgot or jumbled up details consistently, at some point she even gave away details about the plot by getting ahead of herself in writing.

Still, it is a good story, as long as you can over look all the typos and misplaced details.

HASH(0x905f554c) étoiles sur 5 Fun read! Read all 4 volumes back to back... 7 juin 2014

Geeze, I was surprised to see all the negative reviews on this work! Having passed 60 years of age, I still consider myself a fairly young reader and found the angst in coming of age in these books contrasting with supernatural issues to be quite interesting and entertaining! (Oh, to be THAT young again). Firstly, I have read Sara's work before and I LIKE IT. Let's face it, this is not a scholarly tome one reads to dissect the every nuance of motive, character and deep universal truth, nor is it a technical manual on the anatomy and physiology of Were Folke for long-haired veterinary school students ... For crying out loud, it's a FUN read that's meant to be enjoyable! I think most people would enjoy it and, as the adage goes: "If ya don't like a book, sit down and write a better one, ya twit!"

HASH(0x905f5840) étoiles sur 5 Passable with some goofs. 4 mai 2013

Six Moon Summer - I enjoyed this story about a high school girl shipped off to camp due to her parents' divorce. It's interesting to follow the changes as she becomes a werewolf and deals with the stress of camp, death of her father, and the punishment for her rebellion.

The other books were a continuation of the same story with various twists and turns. I did enjoy the story.

There were some problems: a wolf's knee bends in the same direction as a human knee, so the transformation description was distracting; the new moon is not in the night sky but is on the Sun side of the Earth; a revolver's barrel does not rotate, only the cylinder does; and casting silver into bullets is difficult and not something that can be accomplished on a kitchen stove (search for "silver bullets" and see what it says).

HASH(0x905f58a0) étoiles sur 5 Great Series!! 1 août 2014

Six Moon Summer

This is a great start to the series! I have to admit, some parts of the book were pretty predictable, such as the werewolf's true identity, but even with the predictability, this was a fun and action packed read.

I really enjoyed Rylie and Seth as characters. Such a star-crossed love! The wolf and the hunter. I really like this dynamic.

One complaint I was going to make was that the book seemed so short! When I finished, I wondered if it was a novella, I read it so quickly, but then I looked at the page length and realized that I was wrong. It's a full length book at nearly 200 pages, but I was so into the book that I read it very quickly.

Again, a great start to the series! I'm so glad I have the entire series so I can eat it up. I can't wait to start book two!

All Hallows Moon

Wow! Here I thought my mama was a pain in the butt, but she has nothing on Eleanor! This is a great sequel to the first book where Seth has to choose sides between the girl he's falling in love with and his hunter family.

Just like the first book, this is a fast and action packed read. I wasn't able to put it down, reading it in a single sitting. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little bit more lore behind the All Hallows Moon, but even without the lore, it was a great read. I just feel that adding some lore would put these books into an amazing place.

Fun read, definitely recommended.

Long Night Moon

This is another great installment of the series! So far this series reads like a single book, even though it consists of four total. I really enjoyed this installment more than the others so far for the mere fact that this installment showed more of Rylie's animalistic side. So far, Rylie's showing some alpha tendencies, willing to fight anyone that comes near her territory. Before this installment, I was starting to think the transition was going a bit too smoothly for Rylie. It showed so much of her human side! I'm very glad that this book evened out the score, showing her animal instinct.

I also enjoyed the addition of silver poisoning. I felt that this was a very interesting ailment that I foresee being important further into the series. I'm definitely looking forward to completing the last book!

Gray Moon Rising

Although this is a great ending to the original series, I'm very glad the author decided to continue on with Rylie and Seth's story with the Cain Chronicles. Normally while I'm reading a series, I always end up rooting for the man that first enters the scene, but I can't help but feel that Seth might not be the best match for Rylie. Abel seems like a pretty good match for Rylie, in my opinion!

Once again, Eleanor proved that she is beyond a doubt the craziest mother in the history of crazy mothers. Maybe I'm just a bleeding heart, but I doubt that there's much of anything that my son could do that would make me want to kill him! Even if he turned fuzzy, which would suck since I'm allergic to dogs.

To me, the most appealing aspect of this book was the fact that Rylie returned to the site of her wolf creation. I just felt that it was a great place to end, right where the entire mess began.

Great conclusion, but definitely left me wanting more!
