Where to even begin? I LOVED this book! Seriously. This has got to be one of C.C. Wood's best books yet.

So based on the blurb, you can get an idea of what the story is about. Such a heartbreaking story. I'm not a mother so I couldn't connect with the deep emotional connection that Charlotte had with her baby but I would be lying if I didn't say that I was emotional when it came to reading what happened. Her loss, her sorrow was deep. And that her husband Derek was such a jerk just made you feel even more for Charlotte. It was like she was a single parent dealing with the loss by herself instead of a married woman and husband sharing the grief. And Derek - I didn't like him in the beginning and I certainly didn't like him as the story progressed. When you read the book you'll see why.

Brandy and Greg are Charlotte's best friends and her rocks of support. Greg - loved him immediately. They really do help Charlotte, or Charlie as they call her, try to get her life back. You can see why they are such great friends and for so long. I was totally Team Greg from the beginning. They let her grieve but keep her from the brink of going too into herself, which could have happened.

I highly recommend this book. I could not put it down once I got started - unless I had to go to sleep because I had work the next day.

Beautiful story about a mother's love for her son even after so many months and her finding her voice and self again after everything she has to go through.

Seasons of Sorrow

Five stars

I must begin by saying that I have read several of C.C. books and have enjoyed them all. I knew by the title that I was certainly in for a much different experience than in her previous work.

It was a beautiful but heartbreaking story about one woman faced with loss, tragedy and betrayal who gradually learns to live and love again. Thriving through it all because of undying friendship and unconditional love.

Charlotte or Charlie as she is called by her fiends is a 30 year old married woman with a 3 month old son. When the unthinkable happens she must try to heal and make her way through the grief and sorrow. She is at one of the lowest points in her life when she falls victim to her husband Derek and his ultimate betrayal and deceit.

Charlie is blessed with two of the most beautiful and loving friends that anyone could have ever asked for. Brandy and Greg have been friends with Charlie since college. They have always loved and supported Charlie each in their own way. They realize that she is an extremely shy and sensitive person and have always taken the steps necessary to protect her. They have now been left with a friend who is a shattered shell of her former self and have taken it upon themselves to help her put her life back together.

Their journey helping Charlie back to normalcy is amazing. Greg is such a strong , beautiful man. He also has been betrayed by Derek a man he thought was a friend and his business partner. Derek had taken everything from him including the woman he had always loved. Brandy becomes her rock and begins to help her sort through the legal system and criminal investigation. I felt like each time Charlie was climbing her way back up she was yet again beaten down. I couldn't imagine how much more one person could take.

This was an extraordinary story of rising from the ashes and learning to strengthen, heal, trust, rebuild and love with all your heart again. A beautiful Story. ~~Michele~~

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review

Received an ARC of this book for a review and all I can say is WOW!! This story is one woman's emotional journey to survive her child's crib death and her husband's betrayal. She is on an emotional roller coaster that she fears she will never escape. CC Wood has captured the desperation, unimaginable heartache and fear with sensitivity and extremely well written characters and storyline. The author takes you on Charlotte's journey to hell and back with caring and dignity throughout the book. You cry, laugh and hate but survive this beautifully written story. Loved it and look forward to more from CC Wood.

HASH(0x8f417360) étoiles sur 5 Emotionally gripping journey! 5 février 2014

Seasons of Sorrow is an emotionally gripping novel about restoring your hold on life after finding yourself at rock bottom. This is by far C.C. Wood’s best book to date. I sobbed, my heart shattered, and I fought alongside Charlotte as she pieced herself back together little by little.

The story follows Charlotte Fallon as her world is demolished after one unexpected tragedy. Abandoned by her husband, she is left to cope on her own with the help of a small but mighty support group. Action takes place mostly in the present, but the reader is given glimpses into the past as a point of reference for Charlotte’s relationships with Derek, her estranged husband, and one of her closest friends, Gregory Swift. The story is structured around the seasons as Charlotte slowly regains her footing and establishes stability once again.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved this book. The dedication, emotion, and passion C.C. Wood invested in this story radiated off each page and engulfed me within a matter of paragraphs. Charlotte’s mourning was not brief. Immersed in the story, I journeyed with the heroine through each step towards closure and acceptance. There were times where Charlotte was at a standstill and drowning in her own sorrow. Other times progress prevailed only to be halted by fleeting moments of regression. It was both tragic and at times beautiful. These conflicting ideas resonated deep in my heart and I can honestly say this book has left a lasting impression on me.

Women who can relate to Charlotte will find Seasons of Sorrow to be soothing and therapeutic. For readers who have not been in Charlotte’s shoes, this story will still have an impact and leave them with a sense of both heartbreak and healing. I strongly recommend Seasons of Sorrow by C.C. Wood for all readers. It’s a definite must read for 2014!

I loved this book from the first page. I was looking for an easy read and I am so very happy it wasn't that at all. This is a difficult topic to address and I assume it was as difficult to be able to write about it and keep it balanced enough not to fall into a dark area. The dynamics of the three major relationships that took place in this story where pretty well handled. Marriage, friendship and motherhood.
Charlotte had always been an easy person to be with, a good friend, a great wife and a loving mother. However, as everything start to unveiled and the truth of what her marriage and friendship is revealed she realizes that nothing is what it seemed to be. She was gifted with the two best friends any person can ever wish for. And that is where my only complained about this book relies. Brandy and Greg not only have been there for her for the last 10 years but they take care of her every minute after she looses Adam regardless of what it took to get her thru the day. But Charlotte never seemed to REALLY ask, checked or show concern about Brandy and what is going on on her life besides work.
I loved the book, but when things started to get sorted out and getting to end there is nothing about Brandy. What happened there? She is the BEST friend anybody wish they have, so how come when the end is written it does not includes her? A sentence, and update, just to show that her relationship with both Charlotte and Greg was still as important at the end as it always was. That is the only reason I would like to take .5 star for.
