Présentation de l'éditeur

Gregor Buckingham, a young metaphysician scarred from a childhood fire, doesn't have much going for him, but now Sedona is calling to him. In the Northern Arizona town celebrated for mysterious energy vortexes, UFO sightings and other paranormal activity, Gregor will soon discover a lost ancient power, his first requited love and a mortal enemy he must fight to save them both.

Biographie de l'auteur

Born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee, Mikel J. Wilson moved as a young adult to Los Angeles, where he partied all through his 20’s and has been desperately trying to reclaim them ever since. He currently resides in San Diego with a fat border collie, a cat who likes to BASE jump from the third-story balcony and an adult son that he's too young to have. His debut novel, "Sedona: The Lost Vortex," is the first in a planned series of books building on the legends of Sedona.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Now for the movie and the sequel... 4 décembre 2012

Let me start by saying, I could not put this book down! Mikel Wilson is an incredibly talented writer. Not since I read the DaVinci Code have I been so gripped by a story. Each character is wholly develped and based soundly in the real world with typical to tragic stories that make them accesible and yes, believable. All are woven into the context of the story beautifully. I loved the way Christianity, spiritualism and metaphisics are contrasted into perhaps the idea that they are the same thing with the same God (maybe even an Alien) in differnt clothes and sets of rules. The idea of Aliens as the reason for our existence has always been a possibility in my opinion and the book just begins to open the door to this (which I hope plays out more in future books). Having a spiritual connection to both Sedona and the unknown wonders of the universe, the book instantly drew me in on several levels. Friendship, the goodness and evil of human nature sculpted by our upbringing, and the bonds of love that develop over a lifetime, even a few days, catapult the story forward on a quest to find meaning in it all. The story asks us to ponder what the unlimited power of God would bring to someone should it fall in their hands. What would it mean if we could save the ones we love from disease, injury and impending death with the touch of a hand and what if the power to do this falls into just anyone's hands? A religous zealot, a wayward lost soul looking for inner peace or a young misguided youth with sociopathic tendencies? The possibilities make for unlimited stories and a world that Mikel's vortex has just barely opened. Not only is this an outstanding novel, it would make a great movie. Hoping to see where this wonderful adventure will take us next!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Entertaining and action-packed 6 mars 2012

I enjoy stories with a bit of a twist, and I very much enjoyed this action-packed and entertaining storyline of paranormal activity / relationships / and religious fanaticism. It's just "out there" enough to be fun (and potentially possible!) and "real" enough to be scary. I had to keep my dictionary handy early on, as the author seemed to enjoy some of the lesser-used (but correct) words in the English language. This could trip up some folks, but, what else are dictionaries for? And how nice to expand the brain! I cared about the characters and what happened to them, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds in what surely will be a second book.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 A bit winded... but good. 4 août 2012

I am finishing up the last chapters of this book, and I must say that although I generally enjoyed it, I often found it long winded, and it seemed to be much longer than it should be. I guess I'm just eager to finish it... but just when you think you're near a closing, something else happens. I found this annoying, at times, which is why the book just seems to go on and on. Also, I found the extensive biblical passages in the book very tiresome to read after a while. We get it that August is a kook, and a religious zealot. I felt like the author had to drive this point home, over and over... and it was all a bit much. I think he could have seriously cut back on doing that, and the readers would have definitely gotten a sense of the creep that he is. I also found the dialect of Lucas, with his "nothin, liken, somethin, and so forth, a bit strange. I couldn't tell if he had some kind of accent, or was just a 14 year old boy who didn't know how to elocute his words very well.

With that being said, I did find the subject matter fascinating. The author's vivid descriptions of the blue light, the space ship, and what happens when Gregor and others flip into energy was amazing.. and with very vivid descriptions of their exporting experiences. I could honestly see this book becoming a movie. It has all the right qualities, and would certainly draw a good audience with the subject matter.

Not bad for his first try at writing!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A new genius in science fiction literature has arisen 5 février 2012

New author Mikel Wilson is hot out of the gate with his first published novel Sedona the Lost Vortex like a prize winning filly. The story grabs your attention from the first page and you feel like you're living the story with the characters until the very end. Creating a science-fiction novel set in today's time and world makes the story extremely interesting and easy to read. Wilson's characters are so well established they come to life as you're reading along. The plot is original and fascinating. Wilson has created a world and story people will want more of in the coming years (I hear a trilogy is in the mix?). You will eventually want to see this visually as a movie or TV series. Thank you Mikel Wilson for writing a wonderful new sci-fi novel, I truly enjoyed reading it. You have my vote for sci-fi novelist rookie of the year. I wish your novel Sedona the Lost Vortex and your writing future great success.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 WOW - What an AH-mazing book! 3 février 2012

What a GREAT and thought-provoking novel! I really couldn't put it down (except to eat and sleep and even then I didn't want to!). From start to finish Wilson does such a great job of imagery-filled story telling and excellent character development. You develop a love for some characters and an absolute hatred for the others. Although I'm not much of a sci-fi reader, this one is definitely not your typical sci-fi novel. It incorporates elements of religion, philosophy, love/relationships, adventure and the mysteries of Sedona's famous vortexes. You can truly picture this novel as a blockbuster movie on the big screen one day; it's inevitable. With such a cliff-hanger ending, it truly leaves you wanting more. No doubt that the sequels will be just as compelling as the first in the series and I'm looking forward to more amazing novels from Mikel J. Wilson. Very well done - BRAVO!
