Grande qualité sonore, bien isolée des bruits de l'environnement. Belle présentation et petit coffret de transport très pratique.

At less than half the price of the Shures, I was impressed initially on overall build quality and supplied accessories. You get a relatively small but thick carrying case, 3 different sizes of ear tips in 2 designs, an airplane adapter (for dual-mono plugs), over-the-ear wire guides, a cleaning tool, and an extension cable with built-in mic, volume controls, and activation switch. I say "extension" in a joking manner because without this cable the headphone wire is unusable short.
Build quality is very good on the driver units, but the wires are thin and not suitably protected from strain. I'd hope for better longevity or at least a replaceable cable if I was going to pay this much for a pair of headphones.
But ultimately the sound turned me off on these headphones. Yes, they would be a significant upgrade from your $30 ear buds. But I found the bass to be overpowering, especially compared to a very noticeable absence of mid-range frequencies that leaves the sound "hollow", and shrill with a more accentuated high-end. I just couldn't listen to anything more than spoken word for long the sound was so disconcerting.
My big problem with the product was the remote control--it was dreadful. You have to push a button once to play or pause a track--and then push it twice to go to the next track and three times to go to the last one. No matter how fast you push the buttons, the product keeps recognizing it as play or pause. The remote control did work for volume so no problem on that front. The remote control can also be used for calls though--again--the same button that gave me problems with advancing and reversing music tracks came into play. Based on conversations I had, the microphone is weak--especially as it is a bit lower than it should be with the extension cord in play. The packaging was very stylish and effective-the product came through the mail with no problems.
This product was not bad by any means--but I was expecting more. I would be very hard pressed to recommend friends buying this product at Amazon's current price of $179.99--and the normal retail price of $269.95 is outrageous.
I will admit that once I got these installed on my head and hooked up the Ipod I was very pleased with the sound quality of them. Once I got used to it that is. I mean they are very loud, and extremely clear, with exceptional highs. In fact the highs are so loud and clear the sound sorta reminds me of that of a super tweeter that some folks hook up to their home speakers. Super tweeters raise the treble to a much higher frequency thus bringing in a much sharper and crisper high. Unfortunately not all people enjoy that for the very tinny sound it can produce, or are able to get used to it that easily. If you have ever heard a super tweeter you know exactly what I am talking about. These babies can really belt out the volume, but they sound just like they have super tweeters built in. I think this may be the reason why there seems to be such a discrepancy in the opinions of the other reviewers here as to the sound being really superior, or terrible. You either like a treble that peaks at around 25,000 khzs, or you don't. As much as opinions may differ on the highs, I think one would be hard pressed to be dazzled by the bass on these phones. It really is as disappointing as the treble is outstanding. I have a deeper bass in my cheap phones. It's clear and crisp, but just doesn't bottom out very well for phones that cost as much as these. Once again, some people like a bass that doesn't vibrate your ears, but many do. I happen to enjoy a good base in phones and am very disappointed with these in that respect.
As to the actual operation of these with the in-line control piece, it does a very convenient job of increasing your volume up and down without fishing your Ipod out of your pocket. But I have to agree with the other reviewer here that is frustrated with the button sequence to FF, rewind, etc. There are only two buttons that control everything. You enter in a certain number to control what it is you want to do. Your intent with them can be very easily misconstrued by the control if you should hesitate for just a moment. Personally I have even more of a problem with the in-line control for it is just so small. Like a lot of things these days that has taken downsizing to an extreme, the control is very small and one with big fingers can easily screw up the sequence even more. However if you do get used to it and don't have any problem with how small it is, the control is very convenient in its operation. A little clip on it allows one to clip it to a shirt pocket or some other convenient place..
In conclusion, I would say that recommending these head phones pretty much comes down to how much you have to spend, and whether you enjoy such sparkling clear highs that may be irritating, and a base that to me can only be called fair at best. Also as stated above, I don't own an Iphone so the calling features cannot be reviewed by me. Other reviewers here seem to find it easy to use and the calls clear for the most part, at the time of this writing. There is a lot of sound and convenience here in one package. But it all comes at a big price. One final note. The item description and other reviewers here have mentioned a cleaning tool included, as well as some kind of extension cord. I received neither in my package. No tool, and no extension cord. I may write Sennheiser for the parts, but just wanted to mention it. I would inspect the package carefully and make sure that all parts are included, should you decide to go for it. I rate the Sennheiser MM 80i at two stars...
