Présentation de l'éditeur

Abby Sinclair deals in risk assessment—but it’s lives, not fortunes, that are at stake. The Los Angeles investigator goes undercover to figure out whether a client’s stalker is simply an overzealous fan or a dangerous psychopath. She’s learned the hard way that the difference isn’t always apparent until it’s too late. In Raymond Hickle’s case, however, Abby has no doubts.

The awkward loner’s fixation with gorgeous news anchor Kris Barwood has progressed from creepy to murderous. So Abby befriends Hickle, trying to gauge when and how he’ll strike. Yet her target is as wily as he is unhinged, and Abby has unwittingly made herself a madman’s latest obsession. With her reputation and life on the line, Abby races to save Kris before Hickle eliminates them both.

New York Times best-selling author Michael Prescott takes readers on an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride packed with ingenious twists and gut-churning suspense.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Shadow Hunter by Michael Prescott 26 janvier 2017

When I read, I "turn off" my brain. Which means...I work in a law department and experience "life" everyday. So, when I read, I am doing it to be entertained. Strange genre to find entertaining, but what can I say. I have an add personality. Anyway, this book was very entertaining and had a most unexpected twist at the end. I was engaged from page 1 until the end! I am not one that will offer you a great technical review on how the book is written, but can tell you if I can easily see the movie in my mind that the book creates and if I am not only engaged, but remember the characters after I have finished the read. This book performed wonderfully on both of those points. Very enjoyable read!

I gave this book a shot because of its mostly positive reviews. I'd say that it's an OK read most of the way. The characters are all interesting and it's got a good main plot that will keep you turning pages. Towards the middle and end, however, it became too predictable and the writing towards the end was lazy in my opinion. We don't need a character to do a play by play of the plot twist :/ I think this is one of (or the first) the author's first books, so I'll give some of his other highly reviewed books a shot. This one is a good read for a plane ride or long trip.

Travis owns a security company whose current job is to protect an anchorwoman who has been receiving threatening messages from a stalker. Abby is his #1 operative, and her skills, physical and mental, are phenomenal. All the characters have histories that come into play (but nothing concealed from the reader) as the stalker attempts to get to his victim and Abby and Travis strive to protect her. Abby takes a beating more than once, but she is resourceful and capable. It is much more exciting than I have made it sound, but I don't want to give anything away. It is probably more adventure than secrets revealed, but the characters can mislead you if you take them at face value. Read carefully, and have a good time!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Suspense; Very Enjoyable, Worth the Time and Money 1 janvier 2013

Wow, another great novel by Michael Prescott. At first I thought it was slow to start, but it paced well and kept building in suspense. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen but was stunned when the betrayal was revealed. In hindsight some of the clues were there, but the surprise still packed a punch.

The author developed Abby's character well; the emotionally sterile protagonist, the loner who focused on survival and not really living. The smooth, but vindictive Travis: a charming predator in his own right, intolerant of failure and bent on revenge. The newcaster, her husband, Hinkle, even Wyatt: all played skillfully into the story. I became angry when the author exposed the betrayal, but to me the emotion was a good thing. A good book gets you involved in the lives of the players so that you care about what happens to them. It elicits emotions so the story is meaningful and alive. Nice job!

Why not 5 stars? Well, there is no 4.9 option so I didn't have much other choice. And to be honest, I measure all of Mr. Prescott's books against his novel "Stealing Faces", which was nerve racking and my all-time suspense favorite.

The Shadow Hunter has great character development, good flow & pace, throws in a curve or two, good suspense and end well. Definitely worth your time and some space on your Kindle!

Loved the main character, Abby, and the premise of her role in the book. A psychologist that goes deep undercover is something I had never seen before and I have read A LOT of this genre of book (crime/thriller). Also, Michael Prescott's flawed characters are starting to grow on me. I especially liked where he's started to go with the relationship between Abby and the cop she draws information from (for the life of me I can't remember his name at the moment and too lazy to go back and look).
