From New York Times/USA Today bestselling author, Deanna Chase, the fifth book in the Jade Calhoun series.

Starting a new job is tough...especially when your boss thinks nothing of interrupting your wedding.

After a year of battling ghosts and demons, white witch Jade Calhoun is finally marrying the man of her dreams. Or is she? Minutes before Jade and Kane say I do, the High Angel arrives with a job for the newly appointed shadow walkers. Another witch’s life is on the line and it’s up to Jade and Kane to save her.

With a black magic user intent on destroying one of Jade’s friends, more demons on the loose, and a hard to find incubus, can the almost newlyweds save the witch and get their own happy ending?

HASH(0x930047e0) étoiles sur 5 Must Read For Jade Calhoun Fans 12 avril 2014

I started this series on a whim and was hooked. I am not the target audience for this genre (as I am older and male) but grew up reading fantasy and found this to be a good read for those of us so inclined. There is a bit of a "Lord of the Rings" flavor as Jade works her way through constantly changing challenges while trying to keep various forces in check.

Ms. Chase has a clean writing style and draws you in quickly providing plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading. I tend to keep my reviews more about the authors craft and steer clear of summaries that could spoil the book for a reader. So if you like paranormal stories that have a bit of a dark edge to them (Denise Grover Swank, Mindy Klasky, Elizabeth Reeves or HP Mallory) you should like this series. There is a little humor and a little pathos but on the whole this is series that chronicles the growth of a white witch and those around her and the shifting conflicts that come with that growth. There is a lot to the story that plays on the setting of New Orleans, that settings lends lot to the tenor of the story as well as the continued unfolding of the stories of the characters that surround Jade. I am not sure of any setting other than Savanah that would support the story as well. Well written and well plotted, though this episode Jade seems a little more tentative than the last.

I strongly suggest reading them in order. The story makes much more sense that way and I found it more enjoyable to follow the story as it built. I can see this series going on for a number more episodes.

I have read these from the beginning, they have all been awesome, this one was no exception. So much happens in this book you can't seem to let it go, you read until it's all over. I love the characters, the way they care for each other and are always there. Can't wait till the next one comes out in the winter, we will be reading it as soon as it is available . Love Deanna Chase Keep Them Coming!!!

HASH(0x930049f0) étoiles sur 5 Wasn't a diamond Ms. Chase...Kane gave her an emerald. 2 novembre 2014

Wow. This one was pretty bad.

Jade handed over her diamond engagement ring to Kat to act as her anchor. Problem is, while the author refers to this ring twice as being a diamond, it is incorrect. A mistake not caught by author, editor or publisher.

Kane gave Jade an EMERALD engagement ring in a previous book. Stupid mistake.

There was quite a bit of stupid going on. Bam! Chessa barges into their wedding and demands Jade and Kane help drag her sister out of another dimension, but couldn't it wait the measly 5 minutes more to finish the ceremony? Yes, they could have. Every reader thought this same thing. I guarantee that.
It was a silly, silly move on the authors part. The big explosion by Chessa and whats-his-face, intended to cause a major upheaval at the festivities, failed miserably and only annoyed the reader. Dumb. Wait...I already said it was stupid, so I don't need the word dumb in here. Ok. Forget I said dumb. It's only stupid.

They drive to a town where their car is riddled with bullets from rednecks opening fire at them simply because they drove down their street.

Didn't make any sense. They're driving down a street and some hillbilly steps out of his house with a gun. They drive a bit more and his neighbor comes out of HIS house with a gun and suddenly, an entire street of toothpick chewin' Bubba's open fire on Kane's Lexus. First of all, this part of the story (while again stupid.....oh ok, AND dumb) made it sound like Kane was only driving 5 miles an hour or less. If you're driving through a neighborhood, how would you know all these people are stepping outside their homes with guns unless you're crawling down the street at a snails pace? Speed limit in residential neighborhoods is 25 MPH. Both Kane and Jade knew they weren't where they needed to be yet so this whole scenario just didn't work and really had no place in this story whatsoever.
The whole shooting street thingy was never explained.

Then the other coven was insanely hostile, cruel and askin' for it. Especially Dayla. It would have been completely worth it to get zapped by a witch just to have the satisfaction of belting Dayla across the face. Jade seemed so weak. Pathetic at this point.

Then of course, Dayla turns Kane into an incubi and readers are now facing yet another group to train Kane. gun shooting hillbilly's were introduced. A new coven of witches were introduced and the entire brotherhood of incubus was introduced. Way too much going on here.

Seriously? Drop everything so Kane can train for a week or more? Lol.
I'd have told everyone I was under contract with Chessa and before you lay a hand on either of us they'd better think of consequences of Chessas wrath. The higher-up angels trump everyone else. the whole thing with Kane didn't work and it didn't make sense. He's under contract with the main angel. He can't just take time off. Jade also wussed her way through that entire bizarre day letting everyone and everything intimidate her..

Weird, weird book. Odd story line and mistakes that don't belong in a book that readers pay for.

While I love this series, I couldn't wait to finish this installation. I love Jade as a character, but I hate what the author did to her. If she's supposed to be this all powerful witch then show me. Telling me that over, and over again, and have her fail the entire time doesn't make sense. I mean Jade fails at almost everything in this book. Why? How is it that someone as powerful as her literally gets soooooooooooooo overpowered all the time. It was aggravating. I couldn't wait to finish the darn book. I only kept reading it because of Kane. I love him, and I wanted to know his story.

I always hate to come to the end of one of Deanna Chase's books. She makes me love her characters and I feel like I'm right there with them. I hope that Jade Calhoun keeps going for many, many years!
