Présentation de l'éditeur

AUTHOR'S REVISED EDITION! A Small Case of Murder is set in the quaint West Virginia town of Chester, where everyone knows everyone, and there is never a secret that someone doesn’t know. In such an intimate town, how many suspicious deaths can be left unquestioned? Following his wife’s death, Joshua Thornton leaves a promising career in the U. S. Navy’s JAG division to move across country with his five children into his ancestral home. While clearing out the attic they find a letter written to their grandmother postmarked 34 years ago. In the letter Lulu Jefferson wrote “…Remember that dead body we found in the Bosley barn?...I saw him today…I went to talk to the reverend and there was his picture on the wall.” What dead body? His interest piqued, Joshua asks about Lulu and finds that in 1970 she died on the same day that she penned the letter implicating the pastor in an unreported murder. There is much more to this story than a 34-year-old letter. It’s a 34-year-old mystery! Today, a double murder has the whole town under a microscope. The state attorney general appoints Joshua special prosecutor to solve the crimes. In a small town where gossip flies as swiftly as a spring breeze it is impossible to know who to trust. Asking simple questions about events long ago could prove to be deadly for Joshua and his family. Read this Author Revised Edition of Lauren Carr's debut mystery novel. It's the same GRAND mystery, revised and edited for re-release by the author herself!

Just got book number 3 but dicided to reread number1 to refresh my mind. Talk about riveting, "ASmall Case of Murder" kept me page turning. I could not stop reading this book even a second time. The character interaction and overlaping details lead the reader to making their own conclusions, until the next bit of information is suggested. Everyone thinks all tge evidenve points to obe charavter but the plot is so convoluted that you begin to wonder. Keep it up Lauren Carr, you are the best.

Is it just me?

Ilove the works of Carr with the mac Farraday series. But this one I cant for the life of mr get into. It has too much information and jumps all over the place. I persevered for 21% of the book and simply gave up reading any further.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Worst book I ever read 29 septembre 2008

I was influenced by other readers' reviews and want to give future potential readers a moment's pause with the only (so far) negative review. I would be considered an avid reader and can almost always find at least something I like in a book. But not this one. The one word which would cover everything from plot to characters to writing style in this book would be the word SILLY. Way too many murders -- it got to be boring. The plot unfolded in a contrived, ridiculous manner. It's as if the author took every plot she ever heard of and put them in this one book. And then tried desperately and unsuccessfully to connect all of them. Many of the characters were painfully annoying and unbelievable when they were meant to be just the opposite. It seemed as if the author thought she would be considered a good writer if she could include as many different physical characteristics in this one book as she could conjure up. This book is the literary equivalent of a HORRIBLE television soap opera. I sincerely do not mean to be unkind to the author, but rather to warn fellow readers that not everyone thinks this book deserves 5 stars by any means.
