First problem is that it needs to load everything ever used for any song on boot.
This software could learn a thing from Fl Studio, only loading plug-ins on song load
Second problem, crashes at random
Third problem, the automatic loop playback setup... I know it's an easy fix but let ME start it, not the start of a new project
well, it can import mp3's.... cough....
I like the track "freeze" rendering
kinda ok to work with.
This is..... probably not a good beginner Daw for those looking to do recording
I see this as a good tool for those who want to do mastering....... though the tools are limited.
I really don't have any friends who this would work for..... and I know about 13 which are into recording music.
I really would only use this for editing..... and after having it for years....... that's all I do with it.
My only issues with it is it sometimes can be a little stubborn. It rarely crashes but it does freeze up a lot when a lot of tracks with effects are used in the mix. Sometimes for whatever reason the overall mix down can have skips in it or distortion (even when levels appear to be below red) which is its most problematic issue, but it is often easily fixed by just mixing it down again and lowering levels a tad bit as necessary. The layout is kind of ugly too, but it is very easy to find everything you need which I prefer over aesthetic. I also don't find it that powerful as a mastering tool but very easy to use as a recording and mixing tool.
If you want a solid product that won't let you down in terms of quality and content, Acid is right for you. Although it is not an industry standard I consider it a very helpful stepping stone towards more professional music software and equipment.
Even at first I got no sound and started watching youtube videos and searching forums, nothing. I learned a lot about the MPKmini and suggest everyone new to these do the same. But when I would hit the keys nothing. I had everything configured correctly as I found on a forum on the Akai website. Loaded presets downloaded from Akais website. Still no sound. I was frustrated and I turned off the MPKmini editor, hit the keys on the virtual keyboard (that pops up after you load the MPKmini into Acid 7 for Input and Output) and then hit the keys on the MPKmini and whalah, sound to my ears. It has been nothing but fun since. I read a lot of reviews that Acid 7 is to complicated for beginners but i find it perfect for the MPKmini and not so hard to pick up either just playing with it. You can also download it here from Amazon without having to go to the store or wait 5 days to get it in the mail.
