Présentation de l'éditeur

After having her cover blown and risking everything to stop a nuclear Armageddon, covert operative Chandler figured she might have been shown some appreciation for the sacrifices she made. Instead, the very organization that trained her locks up Chandler's sister, Fleming, for treason, intent on extracting every last scrap of information from her broken body and mind.

Despite impossible odds, Chandler launches a desperate rescue mission, recruiting old allies (Jack Daniels and Harry McGlade, from Konrath's novel Whiskey Sour), and new ones (Val Ryker and David Lund from Peterson's Pushed Too Far, and Tequila Abernathy from Konrath's Shot of Tequila) to break into a black site--an ultrasecret military prison on US soil where no one gets out alive. But standing in her way is a squad of deadly psychopaths and a rogue government agency determined to destabilize the nation--and conquer the world.

Buckle up. It's going to be one hell of a ride...

4.0 étoiles sur 5 I liked this book 12 décembre 2014

I liked this book. Basically my review is the same as for the first book in the series. I listened to the trilogy on audio and didn't care for the choice of narrator for it--I feel she has too much of a monotone voice and delivery to narrate a thriller, I liked her as narrator of a chick lit book I listened to, where her reading conveyed depth and emotion despite the lack of range. Here the reading felt flat, a dry recitation of scenes that were supposed to be tense and were action-filled. Very odd juxtaposition.

The story is entertainment so I am not looking for realistic. A lot of crazy things happen in the book, improbable scenarios, incredible odds, and that is fine. It's for fun and the authors wrote a thrilling story that I enjoyed.

Another action packed spy thriller with our favorite sisters Chandler, Hammet and Fleming. This is a way over the top spy novel that includes characters from other books but you really don't need to know everyones background to enjoy. I'm not a fan of how quickly these women recuperate from beatings and torture. Most women won't have sex with a headache let alone broken limbs so it has a tendency to be over the top. I did enjoy reading Tequilla again he was a great character and I will, of course catch "Three" when it hits the stands. There's cameos from Jack Daniels and Harry McGlade we also meet the fun loving Rochester who introduces us to a new fighting style. There is never a dull moment for these three spys.

I found the atypical heros struggle, or coming-of-age grapple with normalcy riveting. I enjoyed reading about when a soldier of war starts to question the idea of "just following orders" versus where that lands in relation to his awakening morality. Especially so when the original seven were all female It was a fun and scary read!

I purposely bought this book about a month ago and waited to read it. Why? Because I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down! This was like watching a movie in your head! I know at least one review said it wasn't entirely plausible, but come's FICTION! Isn't that what the purpose is? All the Bourne and M.I. movies have stuff in them that might not happen in real life...I say just go with it. The book is great. I am hoping Konrath considers making this a long running series like the Jack Daniels series, I love it just that much! I can't wait for Three to come out.
Buy this, read it, love won't be sorry.

It's getting harder and harder to like Chandler. The woman is an elite killing machine, trained by some of the most hardened men the US government has on offer. She is being hunted by her own equally aggressive twin sister, among other psycho killers, whilst trying to save her other twin sister, who is also a trained operative but is on the good side, and she still manages to get laid. Honestly, who has the time with all that going on?
Also, Chandler's bizarre mind wanderings are getting old. Concentrate!
