Présentation de l'éditeur

Find love 10,000 years in the future!

When Mandy loses her job, she thinks she’s hit rock bottom – until her plane is swallowed by a strange storm that sends her and everyone else on board 10,000 years into the future. At first, she thinks the scary world is nothing more than a bad dream. The war-torn Earth is unrecognizable. Black fog blocks the sun, and the oceans are dry. Even worse: the planet is inhabited by half-human, half-alien creatures dying from a mysterious disease. Horrified at the thought of spending her life here, she clings to the knowledge that there’s one man who can open the star gate to send her home.

As the Naki prince who controls the star gate, Akkadi gets first choice of any human female that makes her way through the star gate. Only by breeding with purebred humans from the past can his race hope to remain immune to the disease and hopefully, develop an eventual cure. With shrinking resources and a raging battle for the human planet, dutiful, commanding Akkadi is less than thrilled at the idea of trying to figure out Mandy, a woman he views as wild with neither discipline nor respect for someone in his position.

He’s ready to write her off, when she offers him something too tempting to resist: her body for the chance to convince him by any means possible to send her home. Neither intends for the arrangement to be permanent or to fall for the other. Only when Mandy learns Akkadi’s secret and walks away does he realize he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her – even if it means losing his war.

Another great read. I love all of Lizzy Ford's books, but sometimes it's very nice to have a stand alone novel to read....simply because then I don't have to be impatiently waiting to find out what happens next! However, I would say that StarKissed certainly has the potential to become more of a series; there are many untold tales and adventures that are in Akkadi and Mandy's future. The story is complete in and of itself though.

I think this novel would make a wonderful movie too. It's got great character development, edge of your seat action, and a storyline that wants to make you swoon. The characters are all very believable and I love the futuristic environment. The emotional development of the characters, mainly Mandy and Akkadi, is very enthralling. There are times when one just wants to slap one or the other and yell at them to get over themselves.

Overall, great read, and definitely recommend to all.

3.5 Stars

I mainly give these 3 stars because the story kept me interested. I wanted to know how things were going to end and play out. Also, some of the secondary characters were interesting and fun. I'd like to see them explored more in a sequel. Particularly Cesar and Assaka.

But Mandy ... Oh, Mandy. Where to begin. This was one book where I literally could not stand the heroine. Since most of the book is told in her POV that made this book laborious at time. Mandy was the typical blonde, air-headed, vain, self-centered model type. As someone who used to model, I found the portrayal worthy of an eye-roll. Mandy had no redeeming qualities at all. There wasn't much development either. She remained vain, vapid, and selfish until the end. And I got so sick of hearing about how gorgeous she was. It was pretty much the only thing she had going for her. Oh, and how she could get any man she wants but is insulted by Akkadi spurning her. Newsflash, honey, not everyone wants you. For a book targeted toward women, this was such a huge turnoff and I had a hard time identifying with this woman at all.

While she annoyed, Akkadi intrigued. As a hero he was flawed but noble and sexy. I love a rigid man with passion boiling just under the surface. He had way more dimension than Mandy and made the story likeable.

The plot was a bit confusing at times, as far as the worldbuilding and background of the futuristic society. There were a few plot holes as well. The most glaring to me was the fact that Akkadi's mother was supposed to be from the human world, brought 10,000 into the future. yet it is stated several times that she came to Akkadi's father with a huge dowry. Where did this dowry come from? Her human father on earth 10,000 in the past???

Anyway, those little things had little bearing on the story. And while the characters behaved foolishly at times, the story progressed nicely. I appreciated the ending more and wish the pace had been that way throughout. The action and suspense in the end gave it that extra half star, that plus the fact that I liked Akkadi.

If this book had a sequel, I would likely read it, as the fate of the villain was kind of left hanging out there. Plus I'd be interested to see what happened to Cesar. That said, this was my first read by Lizzy Ford and she has a reputation for being a great writer. After reading other reviews, I was left with the sense that this wasn't her best work. I look forward to maybe checking out others she has written to get a true sense of who she is as an author.

Hum, romance, hum, sci-fi, hum, adventure... What to call it, that is the question, and since I don't give out spoilers, I can only tell you that it was interesting and fun to read. Some would call it a whacka-doodle, but I prefer Spaced-out-Romantika. Trademark alert, it's mine!!!!!

Can I just say that I am always pleasantly surprised at Lizzy Ford's ability to create new characters, as well as worlds, with each of her series? I mean this is the third series of hers that I have read and I am just blown away!
Specifically with Star Kissed I loved the whole book. Let's start with the future Earth she has created. Yes, we find the characters 10,000 years in the future, but it is a future, that with the intervention of aliens is believable. Plus taking Mandy from present day Earth and throwing her into that world makes for a great read. For the beginning part of the story she is convinced she is still dreaming. I don't want to spoil too much, but she even goes so far as to leap out a window, convinced it will wake her up. Her reactions to this future earth are also hysterical, especially once she realizes she isn't dreaming. I'm torn on my favorite parts being her reaction to the futuristic bathrooms and her new favorite purse. I also liked how she worked the Naki in as the original founders of the human race. It helps to give foundation to the reason why the Naki are so committed to curing the plague.
I love the characters. As I said above Mandy is hysterical. Her views are sooo different than Akkadi's and watching their outlooks clash kept me turning the pages to see if they would ever be able to find common ground. I also liked the supporting characters. I think I got even more of a kick out of watching Cesar tease Akkasha than Mandy did. Then there is Akkadi's mother, Helen. She is from a time on Earth close enough to Mandy's that she has similar view points. But at the same time, Helen has been with Akkadi's father, and in the Naki's world, long enough to see things from their point of view as well.

I do hope in future installments of the series that the author explores more of the Naki's universe. I really enjoyed the Kini. I think they are a great counter point to the Naki's logical views. However there really isn't a whole lot revealed about them and I soooo want to know more! I can't wait for book two to come out! If you are already a fan of Ford's then don't worry, you won't be disappointed in her newest novel. If you haven't yet been introduced to her work, then pick up a copy of Star Kissed and say hello! This is a great novel to start out with and a great romance with lots of adventure to pick up and read before the summer ends.

I don't think it's possible for Lizzy to write a bad book. This was not my favorite book of hers and it was not perfect, but it was still very good and kept me reading until the end. I don't read many books about the future but I'm very glad I read this novel. It was frustrating and I was dying for everything to fall in to place.

Mandy was a women who lost her chance as a model- a bit selfish and absorbed. Her whole life was changed in the matter of moments when she suddenly ends up in the future where Earth is nearly dead after her plane is transported though a wormhole. She is not my favorite character, but she was stubborn and strong except for when it came to Akkadi. Her obsession for getting home was very understandable but selfish when she learned of what it would cost.

Akkadi. I just wanted to knock some humanity into him. His lying to Mandy and pushing her away drove me crazy! Man, if Mandy was stubborn I don't even know what to call him. All he knows is duty and honor. To him there was pretty much no such thing as happiness or desire. He was a rigid soldier and leader, willing to do anything to win the war. Learning to be human was tough for him and meant he had to learn to care.

The introduction to the new world was not long and agonizing. It let the reader see and experience it, giving a feel for the new setting without overdoing it. When Mandy wakes, you as a reader feel just as confused and disoriented as she struggles to understand what is going on.

The two leads were fair characters. I loved many of the supporting characters and hated one in particular. I wanted to kill her myself. The plot was was one that kept you reading, though I was disappointed in the romance. I wanted more of Mandy and Akkadi bonding and knowing each other outside of the bedroom. There were of course some grammatical errors and typos, but I barely noticed them as I was devouring the book.

I don't want to say much more and ruin the book for anyone! I highly recommend reading Star Kissed, it's a quick and entertaining read and a journey into a whole different world.
