The Street Fighter series has had a huge fan base for many years. So if you are going to publish a book like this, you had better be a grandmaster at it's history. Instead it looks as if it was made by a typical fan who has no knowledge of anything to do with layouts, designs, editorials, research etc etc. You have probably ran across those cheesy fan made sites of some movie, book, or any genre. It's a random mess with obvious or plenty of facts or opinions that have been stated before. Only this time it's in book form, and there is a huge reason why I got this book super cheap. That should of been a warning, but I made the mistake and bought the book anyway.

The first thing I noticed about the book was the piss poor layout of any magazine or book I've read. Nothing is organized, the book (or the history story) is all over the place. It bounces back and fourth and so much content and characters are left out. There has to be a few street fighter games left out as well, so right there this is not a complete history. False advertisement. Book should be titled. "A Street Fighter Fan's random blogs"

I've seen plenty of better served articles and reviews put together by people who do not even work in the authors profession, nor do they really play street fighter. Do yourselves a huge favor before you buy this book. Read the other low star reviews, and take the high stars with a HUGE handful of salt. (not grain) Because it shows that A: They haven't read the book before they wrote the review. B: They will like anything with Street Fighter on it C: Must be a friend of the author trying to promote this horrible (for the lack of better words) book. Save yourself plenty of time, money, and disappointment and use the internet for better SF trivia and arts. I really wish I had made the above discovery in a bookstore. I would have been able just to simply put the book back on the shelf and walk away. Now I have to get rid of this mess.

I bought this book because I wanted to learn more about the making of and the story behind one of my favorite video game series of all time. Sadly this book is just a quick synopsis rather than a "complete history" as the title eludes to. Despite given an official Capcom stamp, there are no in depth interviews to speak of, no real conceptual sketches, nothing most fans didn't already know and most of all the book it written without any insider insight. It's very US-centric, with little information of what went on in its country of origin.

In addition, what little information that is in the book is uneven. It primarily focuses on Street Fighter II, and short changes pretty much everything that happened before and after, which is a ton.

In terms of art, most fans have seen everything in this book already. Street Fighter: Eternal Challenge and convention circuit favorite Gamest Mook Vol. 17: Capcom Illustrations are vastly superior.

Like many other reviews here note, the title touts the content's "completeness", but in reality it feels like the author read a few articles on Hardcore Gaming 101, some old forum threads on Shoryuken, and downloaded a handful of artwork from other Street Fighter gallery collections, and modified everything until he had 100 pages worth of content. If you were looking for new or future insights into the series, you won't find them here. Pick up Udon's art books instead (especially Eternal Challenge) if you are seeking more in-depth information.

Street Fighter...the memories. This book is an awesome trip into my childhood.Wouldn't recommend it for the uninitiated: this is strictly a Street Fighter Bible.Great artwork and informative content within the pages. You learn everything you need to know about the history of SF.Even better, you hear from fellow fans about their thoughts playing this game. The author even throws in tidbits like how to get Guile's hairdo. If you ever feel nostalgic about the good old 90s,buy this book.

This features a lot of artwork, most of which can be seen larger in more informative volumes, like "Street Fighter: Eternal Challenge". Every book that Udon has published about Street Fighter is better than this book.

The bulk of the book is pretty shallow. It feels like Chris Carle is writing a high school essay about his favorite hobby. Most of the history is glanced over and generalized. The side stories in the book are equally uninformative.

Most of the main characters are give a few pages of artwork, but MANY characters are omitted and the book leaves a lot to be desired.

The design in the book is ok, with some interesting spreads and full page images of classic Street Fighter imagery. The covers crease VERY easily though. You will likely leave creases in the cover just from reading the book.

This book is hardly a complete history. It is more of a general overview. This would be a great book for someone who knows nothing about Street Fighter, but why would someone who knows nothing about Street Fighter want a book of its history?
