Description du produit

Présentation de l'éditeur

Lucy Hathcoat's best friend the supermodel is getting married to a billionaire—what better place than their week-long wedding in a luxury eco-resort to find a new man? Lucy isn’t picky; she just wants a decent guy who’s eager to start a family. Someone as logical, responsible, and practical as she is.

Definitely not the six-foot-five, fun-loving Miles Girard. Being totally hot and charming is not important. She doesn’t need a college dropout who makes her laugh. A man who makes her jump in his lap and kiss him. A man who is pathologically wary of marriage and thinks she needs him more than she needs a husband.

Then again, Lucy’s starting to feel like maybe, just maybe, she can’t live without him…

Un petit livre qui ne paye pas de mine mais qui peut se révéler intéressant. A ce prix là, on s'en prive pas ;)

I fell completely in love with Miles and still adore this book, re-reading it every few months for the pure pleasure of going into this awesome world Galway created. I recently read Alice Clayton's Wallbanger and absolutely loved it, and it reminded me of The Supermodel's Best Friend.

TSBF has Lucy, an overplanner who thinks that she can project-manage her way to finding the most suitable mate after being dumped by her live-in lover on Skype (ouch). When her best friend has a destination wedding where the bridal party gathers at a resort for a week, she has her chance. In walks Miles, the complete opposite of what she thinks is ideal -- he's an enormous bear of a man, alpha to the core, but with a reasonableness and a skill with children that makes anyone (except Lucy, of course!) see that he's perfect.

The chemistry is right on pitch, and all the secondary characters are strong. As Lucy tries to make herself like Alex, her "perfect match" that isn't, we see Miles fall deeper for her. An incredibly hot beach sex scene changes everything, and Galway's world is so amazingly tangible that I hope like hell she does a sequel/spinoff/whatever. I laughed out loud so many times while reading, from the comic relief of some of Lucy's friends to Miles' way of dealing with wedding issues (he's the best man).

I think this is an undiscovered jewel of a book and can't stop recommending it to friends.

When supermodel, Fawn, and her wealthy fiancé invite their wedding party to a new-age spa for a week of indulgent pampering, the up-tight Lucy decides to hand over her search for a husband to her friends. Recently dumped by her long time boyfriend, and with her best-laid plans of a suburban home and 2.5 children out the window, Lucy no longer trusts herself to pick the right guy. But who did Fawn choose for her, Mr. Obvious, the anal retentive lawyer or, Miles, the laid-back teacher?

Lucy's had it with the people she loves abandoning her--first her mom and dad, and then her fiancé Dan. There is no way she's handing over her heart to Miles, even if he is beyond sexy and makes her heart pound right out of her chest. Lucy is convinced that Miles is wrong for her. Fawn and Miles conspire to prove Lucy otherwise.

This friends-caper is hilarious, filled with well-fleshed out characters and loads of poignant moments. Galway hits just the right note, peppering the reader with witty one-liners while placing the characters in unexpected situations. Think new-age wedding ritual where everyone is required to be nude - including the aging in-laws. Yikes!

Gretchen Galway writes clever, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy. I'm telling all my friends!

After reading the synopsis of the book, I downloaded and thought it would be a book that I could be into Sadly, I was mistaken. From the get go, it seemed that the main character, Lucy was a bit confusing. That never changed throughout the book. It was difficult to sympathize with her for that very reason. Miles, the main male character was just as bad. We're lead from the beginning to have a certain idea about their personalities, yet they changed drastically the entire book and not in a very appealing light.

If that were the only down side to this book, I could look past it. But my biggest annoyance was the relationship with her "friends". Fawn (the model), Krista (the Charlotte), and Betty (the lesbian). Holy cow! How were these women friends. From the time they get together for the wedding it was all catty remarks, jealousy and just down right being MEAN to one another! It was really aggravating. I can see how some friends can act a little bit like that towards one another but honestly it seemed as these women couldn't stand one another. And when they had "moments" of friendship, it fell flat and didn't seem real. That really upset me and I couldn't get past that throughout the book. Maybe that's why I didn't really feel this book as something I could fully invest my interest in. Besides all that, there were just too many unfinished side stories. You're thrown around so much it was almost like following a pinball game. Yes, I said pinball. Just all over the place.

I try to be as upfront and honest in my reviews as possible. This is only my opinion and obviously not the only review. Take it for what it's worth, because there are others out there that found this to be an enjoyable read. I, unfortunately, wasn't one of them.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Romance full of Dysfunctional People. 30 mai 2014

This is basically a romance,I use the word loosely, about very dysfunctional people. It's characters are all in their 30's and older who's romantic lives are full of misunderstanding, unreasonable expectations, and lack of love. Characters who are hungry for a certain ideal mate and are in a rush to push out kids. But they have no sense of reality when it comes to obtaining those things. This is a romance where lust replaces love and money + good genes = marriage material. It wasn't a terrible book because I will say I read the whole thing. It kept me interested but it was in a way a reality show like real house wives keeps you interested. This is not a book for the typical romance fan but more for those who love very complicated and dramatic plots with painfully flawed characters. Overall, I personally wasn't a fan but it wasn't because the writing or anything was bad it just wasn't my personal tastes. It also seemed to drag on with getting to the point. I felt like it could of wrapped up quicker since you get the drift of what it's all about by the 50% mark. The rest of the the book is a back and fort of the drama playing out with little resolution.

This was a nice story - 3.5 stars. At first I was having a difficult time with it because it I was having trouble connecting with Lucy and her friends but I am glad I stuck with it because she redeemed herself and I ended up liking her (and it helped that her friends weren't such a huge part of the story).
Lucy is consumed with having a plan for everything. A plan that includes being married ASAP and having kids before she's 30. After her fiancé who she has been with for 8 years leaves her for someone else all her plans came to and end and now Lucy is on the hunt looking for a man to marry to set her plans in motion. She doesn't care if there is love involved either.
Miles is a big burly man who has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to his dad and has commitment issues. He seems to have a sense of humor and is a fun man. He's good looking too.
Since Lucy is on a bad luck streak with her men and seems to be picky she enlists her friends to set her up with the man she will marry. So they do and choose a man who just happens to be friends with the groom of her best friend whose wedding they are attending this week for a week long extravaganza. Alex, the man the chose, is nice enough, good looking enough and has the right "whatever" enough to be a good husband but he's just not right for Lucy. They don't have many things in common and she's not feeling it. However she doesn't feel that way about a certain best man to her maid of honor. Lucy and Miles have this interesting sexual awareness going on and after trying hard to ignore it Lucy gives in to her desires and shares a few intimate kisses and later on finally sleeps with Miles. Throughout the week they spend lots of time together and develop feelings for each other that neither want to admit to themselves. However after their friends wedding they can't hold back anymore and profess their love for each other.
Overall I enjoyed the story. It had its weak moments and strings ones and I'm glad I ended up sticking with it.
